Free delivery with most restaurants on the Deliveroo platform in Victoria from 8:00pm (AEST) 05/08/21 to 11:59pm (AEST) 12/08/21. Excludes bottle shops, KFC and restaurants marked ‘delivered by restaurant’ in-app. Minimum spend (excluding tips) of $10 for most restaurants, $12 for McDonald’s and Baskin-Robbins, and $15 for Red Rooster. The delivery fee must show up as ‘Free’ in the basket at checkout in order for the offer to be valid. Offer subject to change without notice. Geographical restrictions and T&Cs apply.

        Yeah Dan is a loser can't handle the outbreak very well. QLD premiere is doing a better job at handling as we don't instantly go into lockdown over a couple of cases

      Even if they offered free delivery, they'd still charge their scummy service fee.

        Uber eats has apparently changed their pricing model. The 'delivery fees' are now significantly lower, but a new 'service fee' makes up the original difference.

    Not 100% related, but there also seems to be a targeted coupon "ROOGET15" which gives $15 off $20 spend. Hopefully this works for some people :)

      Why downvote a guy who is just sharing his experience. Some people on ozbargain need to check themselves. I’ve had bad delivery experiences from Deliveroo too. It certainly can and does happen occasionally

    Looks like they deliver to selected areas/suburbs only… I checked mine n the website says "we are not there yet" enter email and we will let you know when available.

    If only their customer service wasn't so atrocious when things go wrong! $30+ food order and only a can of soft drink was delivered… for the "Inconvenience" I was kindly offered a $15 refund to cover the $30 odd that I had spent on the order. Took several chats as they considered the matter closed with the offer of a $15 refund & then harassing their CEO after going on a drunk online rabbit hole search to find his details to finally get it sorted.

    Now, if anyone wants to get in contact with Ed McManus to let him know how bad the service is, let me know! ;)

    Does anyone know how this works out for the restaurant and delivery person?

    Like, who is really bearing the brunt of the discount? Is it really Deliveroo waiving its fees or are riders/shops losing out?

    I love the free delivery but I don’t think I want to use it if the people doing the work are being screwed.

      It's generally Deliveroo/UberEats in this scenario. They are still making money off the restaurant, usually more than the customer pays for delivery if it's a bigger order. They are probably still making a slight loss, but it'll come out of their growth/marketing budget.

      I'm not sure in this case but with Uber Eats there was a rider who was killed in an accident and they refused to pay his family compensation because he logged off about 20 minutes earlier even though they kept sending new jobs.

    Has anyone had issues with getting refunds from deliveroo?

    Had a restaurant deliver the wrong item, and had an email response: "We can't provide compensation this time".

      I had a wrong item delivered last week, uploaded a photo. Received refund a few hours later. Did you upload a photo and asked them why no refund?

        Ordered a coke Zero > got a Coke. Ordered a macadamia nut cookie > got a chocolate chip one…

        This is just the 2nd time I've complained in like 20 orders….

    Deliveroo has much better pricing IMO. Pricing for 4 items from the same restaurant: Deliveroo = $24.92, Uber Eats = $33.15. During most lockdowns, Deliveroo has offered free (with some T&C's) delivery and does not charge a service fee, whereas Uber Eats still charges delivery and service fee (usually 10%). You can also stack Deliveroo voucher and use link from ShopBack. As OzBargainers, we are duty bound to use Deliveroo lol.😊

    Just out of curiosity.

    How does using delivery services like Ubereats, Deliveroo etc with their fees and charges and loaded food prices, fit with the OzBargain ethos??

    A local fish and chip shop here sells it's food for a higher price on Ubereats than if you walk into the shop and buy it, eg, a pack of fish, chips, dim sim, and potato cake is $10.50 if I go and buy it at the shop - 5 minute drive. If I buy it on ubereats, it costs $15.50 plus delivery plus service charges - AND, just as important, the food was almost cold by the time I got it delivered!!! Don't know about other people, but I like my fish and chips hot and crispy, not soggy and cold. Needless to say, I never did it again. I only tried it once because I had a free voucher.

    For a group of people dedicated to saving money, this makes absolutely no sense, though I do accept that some people have (1) more money than sense and, (2) they are bone idle lazy. I guess they might be in the same group of people that are happy to eat stone cold food at Maccas without a whimper.

    A lot of take away food places are independent businesses doing it tough right now. Support them, not multinational ripoff merchants.

      I only use Deliveroo cause Citibank have a spend $25 - get $10 back :)

      I would not bother other wise.

      in my experience with deliveroo food comes hot, and usually similarly priced to in-store (i dont use ubereats tho, they are by far the most expensive)

      It depends where you live and I don't want to spend upto 30 minutes getting the food myself (drive there/back and maybe food is delayed). The extra $1-2 is definitely worth it.

        If it was only $1-2 extra then I might consider it for the very rare occasions I have have take away food. $20 odd for a delivered meal will buy me sufficient food to cook at home for several meals.
