But have you ever taken a moment to think about those people who have an important part of their lives (i.e. families and friends) overseas or outside your state? You are thinking from a position of privilege which a lot of people in QLD/WA don't have, and the lack of compassion from these governments and from people like you towards these less-privileged people is absolutely shocking.
@MassEffect: Nice way to shoot yourself in the foot. I can holiday (and indeed currently am) and go to funerals and see my under privileged friends in any state except NSW (…and Vic which unfortunately got dragged into the NSW mess).

When the so called national plan was released we didn't have specific dates, only thresholds as vaccine supply was still a major issue. This Christmas opening date simply came out of the PMO's media team and has been used to frame attacks on all of the states which would not have reached the vax thresholds by then.

Grow up, there's hard choices to be made, there's no GREAT options like you think, and people separated from their loved ones is the least worst of the options, speaking as someone living in lockdown curfew Melbourne to keep us including my kids from being absolutely overrun and ready to batten down the hatches because s**t is getting real with triaging ICU within the next month (for ALL emergencies) as hospitals have to decide who lives and who dies while we race to vaccinate. This isn't a zero-sum state-vs-state scarcity game like some think. Ya know what exponential growth looks like? No we can't live in a bubble forever, but we can keep it out of some states for as long as possible while people get vaccinated, rapid antigen tests become available, and vaccinations for children under 12 get approved. You might be "impatient" at the "privilege" of not having to deal with this fear, but get real mate.
Nothing brings families together like a funeral, except you can get arrested attending one of those too these days. And most people have to die alone. As long as it's not you, eh? 60% of people in the UK who died from COVID had a disability, and the open-uppers show their true colours when they say COVID aint a concern compared to their freedumbs. It's a privilege that some people's lives revolve around the state they live in. Others, like myself, don't. You've got your family living with you so things aren't as bad. Don't forget that a lot of people in this country are immigrants who have a significant part of their lives overseas. You don't have an ailing parent or a grandparent living by themselves overseas with no one to care after them. And then when they pass away, you are not allowed to go to their funeral.
As someone said earlier, you will not understand this because this doesn't affect you.

I found selecting the $199 in initial screen, and then when selecting the flight you want the $22 flights appear. Just make sure your searching the relevant dates obviously.

If you normally have lounge access and live near the airport, it might be worth buying a $22 ticket just to get into the lounge, eat some food and drink a few bevvies.

Assuming you'll need to check in to get lounge access, yes, it's an empty seat which might otherwise have been occupied.
You might also hold up the flight, if you care about other passengers (aircraft will often depart ahead of schedule if all passengers are boarded).
