Dick Smith Direct Import Vs Buying Local AU Stock

Hi Ozbargain,

Apologies if the question has already been asked, did a search of the forums and couldn't find much information.

Hoping to buy a robot vacuum (Dreame D9 or L10) from Dreame, but note that the D9 is much cheaper as a direct import with Dick Smith (Kogan) at $359 vs $599 on the Dreame site - not all time low, but want to pull the trigger soon. Apparently the direct import will come with an AU plug.

My only question - is the charging dock for the AU version the same as the international? Is the only difference the plug and the dock is identical? Reason being I am quite risk averse in general and was hoping to get something that is AU compliant in the unlikely event there is a fire and I would not be covered by house insurance for using a non-compliant electrical item.

Thanks in advance, and would love to be corrected about any of the above if I am wrong. Cheers

      I'm happy with writing off a product for that price, and assuming there will be zero warranty/support. My plan is to root it anyway.

      Only curious about whether the product will be electrically AU compliant or not. If unclear or unlikely (like eBay chargers with travel plugs) I'll just steer clear and buy it from the official distributor.

    if anything goes wrong with the direct import you will probably not be able to get it repaired under warranty by the manufacturer, i don't know how warranty works with dick smith / kogan but it probably isn't easy to get them to honour one, if you can get them to do it at all.

        Dreame seems to be a foreign company, correct me if I'm wrong. I guess it may be easier to deal with Kogan as they are local company. Thus even it direct import, Kogn still have to honour locl ACL. ACL with Logan is shorter die to the price.
