$96 "half price" or close enough.

  • Great camera worked well in indo, actually took it down to 5m without any issues, mind you it was the xp30 which is the same except with GPS. $96 is a steal

  • One hour deal? when does it start?

    • +1

Ignore, found it on the home page… 7pm-8pm

  • Quite poor reviews concerning image quality however. This looks like quite an old model as they are to the xp50, and the xp30 was released in 2010.

Good for kids I would think though.

    • Released early 2011 - 1 year old, so 1/2 price

Image quality & low Res screen is usual design issue on similar rugged cameras, and can be expected at this price.

But it is larger than it needs to be to fit the waterproofing, shockproofing, etc. If you don't need that, there are smaller cameras around this price point. There was a $55 Sony a few weeks back, which is quite acceptable & fits in the pocket nicely (but no HD movies). http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/64808

So its a choice in a reasonably priced camera - slightly better images or a camera that can be used underwater, on the beach without wrecking the lens with sand (2 of my cameras met that fate), dropped from normal usage heights (broken battery cover on another), …

  • Handy video review http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AMt_8BwfCuw

As seems usual on these rugged models, reviews say low Res 2.7" display, poorer image quality (seems to be an issue with all these internal lens systems). In addition there are poor quality buttons - especially zoom, dodgie camera cover, etc.

A few weeks back, BigW had $112 rugged Lumix DMC-FT10, so similar issues were discussed at http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/63746 … an issue with waterproof cameras is the need to replace seals - which is expensive & should be done every year with the Lumix!!

    720 movies with zoom
    5x zoom

Should be good holiday (snow, beach/surf/fishing, reef) pics camera at the price.
Lots of cheap cameras at the moment.

I may have a look at this. I'll be in Thailand during Songkran and will be getting drenched for 4 - 5 days straight.

    • Sounds like a sensible idea - beats having to spend a small fortune to replace your regular camera after it gets soaked.

      • True. Had a cheap Nikon fail when in snow country in Japan. Nikon Australia never responded to emails, warranty only covered repair in Oz, quote for repairs started at same price as the month old camera, so bought 2nd hand camera as new cameras were so expensive. If you can avoid that on holidays, its worth it!

  • Bah, delivery wasn't free.

    • $4.95 Oz wide

  • Bought and still stock left, thanks op!
