Arlec Grid Connect 6W Smart RGB GU10 Globe $5 in-Store Only @ Bunnings

330

Popped down to the local Bunnings and between all the trolley doggos and instore pony rides I came across these smart GU10 globes on clearance. They're a nationwide clearance and no longer showing on the website.

Using the GRID Connect app these can have their colours changed, colour temp changed from 3000K (warm) to 6000K (daylight), brightness adjusted, power toggled on/off and scheduled on a timer.

There were about 16 at my local store on the shelf. Staff confirmed neighbouring stores have stock and they're instore nationwide. Stock I/N is 0148683 if you want to call.

Just be aware that the Grid connect is possibly one of the worst apps I have used.

It was impossible to get it to connect to set a set of Arlec LED strips. I spent hours and even support couldn't solve it. Returned them in the end.

Tuya based so Smart Life or any app should work. I have some of these and they're fine. Can't put Tasmota on them but.

Ive been using it for a couple of years and has been ok for me.

      • same,

my brother has been using TP Links KASA, and since joining Origin's Spike program I have added 2 TP Links energy meters.

Smart Life should work fine. Biggest issues usually can be traced to it not supporting 5ghz wifi networks - so if you only have that, you are out of luck. They can also get confused if you run 2.4 & 5 using the same ssid- if it happens you need to either rename or turn off the 5ghz network temporarily when configuring the device. Afterwards they are usually ok.

  • Any way to check stock levels of these?

    • Bunnings tightened the API so it's not so easy to check. One guy has broken it here but he's selfish and won't share how.

Only other way would is to call Bunnings and have them check stock based on the code.

        Sausages on the floor

  • hard to know the stock level.

  • Just called my local store in Victoria, the price is $14.90

    • Can probably go instore and try and price match based off the image.

  • Just a question: you mention 6W in the deal, but the ticket says 5W. Are there 2 different models?

    • Yes I think you're right. Updated.

    • Just checked a box. Definitely 6W.

      • Oh how interesting!
Maybe the product tag has a typo on it

        • Yep the receipt said the same. Definitely charged at $5

  • Anyone can comment how is the heat dissipation from these old style housing LEDs?
