  • Sorry what is Paypal pay in 4?

    • +2

      their version of afterpay

      • +2

        Do they do credit check

        • Want to know this as well, got stung by zip pay sign up for credit check even though I didn't end up using them.

        • -1

          Yes they do

        • I got rejected by latitude because I essentially have no credit history (never had a credit card or loan), but I was able to use paypal pay in 4, if that helps.

        • Used it a few times and it didn't show on my credit report, but Zip did

        • +1

I don't think they do. I paid several items with pay in 4 and no credit check.

        • +1

          no they don't.

    • PayPal buy now pay later, like afterpay

  • +1

MIght get this to replace my Laggy as ****k Samsung A53 5G

    • +4

      A53 is newer, what's wrong with A53?

      • A53 has a significantly slower SoC than the A52s.

        • +1

But still won't laggy as ****k

  • +1

Good replacement for a Note10 that has a broken camera and screen?

    • +1

Only replaced my Note8 with this because of my cracked screen. I would say it is, 120hz is super nice, new battery helps. If my screen wasn't cracked, I probably wouldn't appreciate the upgrade due to my low phone usage though.

  • Good to spend the 80 on extra microsd

  • +5

Awesome price. I've had this since launch and it's been great. Still smooth, no lag. Still getting updates.

    • +3

Can you comment on the following issue some reviewers report:

"This phone has widespread touch screen issues and cannot be fixed with updates. Screen is constantly jittery and scrolling is slow. Pinch to Zoom makes the phone stutter and becomes un-usable. Avoid until a proper fix is found."

      • Yeah I've read a lot about that but I've never had any of the aforementioned issues personally. Might be luck of the draw.

      • have not found that to be the case

      • This is what's stopping me from getting it for my folks.

      • I bought mine last year, have not had this issue with mine. Been a great phone to use.

      • +3

No issues with mine as well. 256GB 5G (Snapdragon) variant. It's a great phone, lasts me 2 days and takes great photos.

      • Had the jittering with mine. Ghost touches.

        • +1

Same. Had with several Samsung though. Still recommend. Except this is the last Sammy I'll buy as no sd slot on newer ones.

          • @seraphim2017: Yeah same, I'm done with Sammy too.

I wouldn't recommend the purchase however because if someone gets the issue the warranty is a headache (at least it was for me).

      • Mine never had this problem but gf's did until it got some updates and was fine after. We both had 5G 128GB models.

        Very good phone btw

      • Mine was fine. I think these are old problems.

      • Had mine since Dec 2020 and no issues since I got it, still runs great

      • I've had my S20FE since launch day, preordered the day it became available on amazon.
My only touch screen issue was random dead spots towards the top of the screen, mainly where the top row of apps would appear on screen, restarting the phone would fix the issue but would eventually come back.
The initial android 12 release update seemed to have fixed my issue and it's been fine ever since then.
        Phone has been solid otherwise.

      • +1

I have this issue. touchscreen is not working!!

      • Despite what this says it has been fixed in subsequent updates.

      • No problem with mine

      • Had my phone for 1.5 years and had no issues! (6GB/128GB 5G version)

    • Heard the battery life sucks. What's your screen on time like?

      • +3

it definitely shouldn't, especially with the 5G snapdragon model. I got about 8 hours screen on today (yes I am a chronic youtube shorts addict) and sitting at 20% right now.

        • Nothing wrong with that!

      • +2

I think its great. Much better than some of the other phones I've had. I can usually get close to 2 days out of it before charging. I think I've only had the phone die on me once in 2 years.

Your Store Credit cannot be used in conjunction with any other Store Credit
offers or to qualify to receive another Store Credit.

If you have store credit, don't use it.

  • +1

Only downside is lack of case options

  • Looks like the store credit offer excludes all unlocked mobile phones, plans etc

    https://thegoodguys.sirv.com/Content/2022FY/HubPages/EOFY-SA…

    • how about the paypal pay in 4?

    • It says 'Mobile Phone Plans'. Pretty sure this is included especially since it is showing on the product page as an offer

"Excludes all Unlocked Mobile Phone, Prepaid mobiles and all Mobile phone plans."

      • "unlocked mobile phone" is what this is categorised as…..I've ordered already but I thought it would be worth mentioning as I suspect it's not included in this order. $577 is still a good price

        • Yeah fingers crossed, I've ordered one too. I checked a product like Loewe which is on the exclusion list and the credit doesn't show on it's product page. Would be poor form to show an offer implying it the product is eligible if it is not.

          • @unleadedFuel: I've got the fingers crossed, but I'm also going to be realistic that it is likely to be excluded

          • @unleadedFuel: Any news on the credit? So far nothing on my end.

            • @aim54x: Same for me, nothing yet… bit dodgy how they have no communication around this

  • how does the paypal credit works? can we use that for other paypal transactions and is it instant?
also cant click and collect anyhwere in sydney.

  • would be good if someone can confirm Paypal Pay 4 cashback.

    • what is this about cashback paypal pay 4? I haven't heard of that before

        • Those T&C's already state it….PayPal bonus is dependent on a qualifying purchase paid using PayPal PayIn4….

So if it qualifies then paying using PayPal payin4 you get the extra.

2.5 year old phone. One more major update left.

Consider s21 FE or a53/a73 series for 4 year support.

    • +4

If this is the Snapdragon variant, it is much better than S21 FE

      • Will be better for a year then stuck on Android 13/One UI 5.

        • +5

If buying for my father-in-law, the lack of updates is a feature not a bug… I don't want to have to explain a new Android to him…

          • @astevens: Except missing the security updates increases chance of it getting compromised

            • +1

@silenthillrocks: If security updates are so important, then you should get a Google phone. Samsung doesn't provide that many security updates. Had a Google phone before, lots of updates. Samsung phones simply pale in comparison.

Also, no OS update doesn't mean no security updates. You get 4 years of security updates.

            • +1

@silenthillrocks: Android is pretty safe unless you invite trouble yourself by installing some randomass app from the internet.

      • Even better than S21 FE that is a snapdragon variant?

      • S20 FE 4G was originally Exynos, but the "2021" variant that is currently sold everywhere now is SD. 5G was always SD.

    • +4

s20 is much more advanced in the "yes it still has a micro SD slot" compartment. Selling feature for me!

    • +1

This phone was released October 2020 so it's not even 2 years old.

  • With PayPal pay in 4, can we get an invoice to claim TRS?

  • Looks to be not snapdragon processor.

    • +2

      5g model is snapdragon

      • That's what I thought. Went to compare and description says octa core and doesn't say snapdragon which is $700+ on their website (which doesn't say 5G). It the description has been swapped around.

      • mine is snapdragon

    • +1

JB description with the same SKU says Snap Dragon:
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-s20-fe-5g-…

      • Yes.. I wonder if they stuffed up and got the price mixed up between the 5G and 4G since the technical specs as octa core on good guys. If so, get in quick :)

    • Picked mine up…can confirm it is the 5G version…so SD not Exynos

  • Good upgrade from Samsung S8 and Pixel 3a?

Store credit has to be used this month, June?

    • +1

Good upgrade from S8, that's what I upgraded from last year

      • Thank you! S8 is still going well.. it's just the battery life which is awful and given how long in the tooth it is getting I'm thinking probably time to upgrade rather than swapping out the battery for a new one.

    • Curious about Pixel 3 as well. Mine still works well (great photos, snappy interface) but battery only lasts a few hours. Wondering if this would be a good upgrade, or wait for the new pixel later this month.

  • This was released Oct 2020?
How many years left for system updates?

  • Have one, zero issues
Great phone, don't confuse with the non-5g one which has the worse soc

    • +1

That's what I have, and it's fine too. No issues at all for me.

      • +1

If you bought it recently, chances are it's a SD865, not an Exynos.

        • Mine is Exynos. I bought it while it was on pre-sale. Maybe my use of it differs from that of others, but I suspect that for many people it does not make a difference which chipset it is.

          • @Make it so: Performance probably not, but a battery life penalty too I believe

            • @Lonewolf1983: That could be right. Though I usually have >50% left at the end of the day. The battery in this thing is massive.

  • +3

Good deal, but can't see any items for click and collect in Qld :(

    • +2

      No stock in Vic either

  • Make sure you "subscribe to their marketing emails/sms" for these bonus credit offers. Just got my Mothers day one that was meant to be sent out on 26th May. They said my marketing was off but yet I still got 4 emails from them in the past month so they credited me after I asked if they breached the spam act instead lol

  • Looks like I'm going to miss out from the gift card as I had to have it delivered (said no product found within 500km). For the prices it's ok.

  • +1

Good update over iphone 12 mini? iOS sucks big time. Nokia 3300 was better than this smartjail..

    • Lol, iPhone 12 mini is about $1,000, this about half that. Shouldn't be an upgrade.

    • First thing I ask someone if they want iOS or Android. If you're not happy os wise, then this would give you less shackles to work with.

  • in the market for a new phone, is this worth it though with 1 OS update left? Was going to take the plunge for a ip12 (not fussed about OS).
