      updated thanks

  • +6

Nice. So I just need to see if the website accepts the $250 Coles Mastercard as a valid payment to get a better discount after it activates on Wednesday. Current plan is to get the 4% discount with RACV.

    • +4

Last time I tried with the old Coles mastercard, they don't work as a valid payment because they can't send a one time pin to your mobile

    • +3

That's what I'm wondering if it will work on top of the 4% with RAC. Thinking it might not though because you have to go thru the RAC portal and it inserts a coupon code to reduce it.

Even if that doesn't work it's ok, because it's still 5% off rather than 4%. Stack with Hiver 5% cashback on their card

EDIT: confirmed it won't work on top of the existing 4% RAC/V discounts. As it logs you in when buying from that portal and doesn't show up with this promotion when you click through on the link.

It's basically 4% or 5% as your choice, not stacked on top of each other.

      • -4

I can confirm that the old purple Coles $250 mastercard worked with RACV so quite likely will work with the new Yellow one. I'm also waiting for my HIVER credit card to arrive. Already transferred in $5000 in preparation. :-)

      • Does this offer stack with Hiver?

        • Not the 4%. It's either you do that or do this deals 5% and then pay with it using Hiver card.

    • +5

I tried using my Coles Mastercard Gift Card not long ago; I was able to place an order and the money has been deducted from the card. However, my order status is stuck in In Progress and I have not received a tax invoice, which makes me think my order will be manually reviewed (and it is likely in that case that my order will be manually cancelled, because you're not supposed to use prepaid gift cards on this gift card portal).

I'm a little surprised I was able to place an order, but only because the payment page shows the Mastercard ID Check logo, which I thought meant that 3D Secure 2.0 was mandatory and my payment would be automatically declined (but it evidently wasn't, because I was able to place an order and money was deducted from my card).

      • +2

        Watching this space.

        • +8

It worked! I just received my Woolworths gift card.

          • @WookieMonster: maybe they have now closed that loophole. I just tried with mine and it won't work, just comes up with an error
Something went wrong. Our system is temporarily unavailable.
Your card hasn’t been charged. Please try again later.
not sure if this is just for the Coles Mastercard or if they are having an issue with their website. I tried to get a $250 wish card (+ 5% bonus value) using a $250 Coles Mastercard I purchased today. I checked the balance online and it seems the $250 is loaded and ready to go. Not sure if I still have to wait 24 hours to be able to use it?

            • @souths123: They have probably closed that loophole (which doesnt surprise me, because there would currently be a sudden uptick in the number of orders attempting to be paid using Coles Mastercard Gift Cards.

However it could be they're having wider issues… who knows!

            • @souths123: Did you waited a few hours after you purchased your Coles prepaid MCGC?
I bought some Coles Prepaid MCGC this morning, and able to use it to purchase a $100 WW eGC right now.
              12:55 Order Confirmation email
              12:57 Tax invoice email
              13:00 WW eGC received

            • +1

@souths123: I just paid by CMC yesterday at 5:30pm.
Credit was withhold, no error message, received confirmation email. But still haven’t receive the gift card after 12 hours 😮‍💨

              • @Babyboss: Edit: card received on 9:30am, can save in app

                • @Babyboss: Which app are you using to save the WW card?

    • I wonder what would be the total amount saved if using the Coles Mastercard when purchasing $100?

  • -8

I wonder how many times the mods are going to delete this post and not tell people why

    • I removed it initially bc I had some errors on the post itself but forgot to repost as I was in a meeting earlier

Edit: Not too sure why the first OP removed the post. I was the second post after when I searched for the deal on Google

      • +1

And here I was thinking you've unearthed some conspiracy to hide deals woolworths giftcards

        • Haha nah I would share whatever deals I find on OzBargain anyway
Wouldn’t want to keep it all for myself

    • Both posts were self-unpublished by the poster.

      • +29

        ChillBro needs to ChillBro

      • That's what someone covering up a conspiracy would say 🤔

  • Thank you OP.

I wonder if it is worth waiting 'til tomorrow and attempt to use 100/250 Coles MCs to purchase this, or snap this up now just in case they go out of stock.

  • Would this work with $500 value? Just I see when buying max is $500 gift card. Can they add the extra 5% on top?

    • +5

      Just purchased $500 - received a $525 gift card

  • This isn't a wish GC is it, just a standard Woolworths supermarket only GC?

    • +3

Correct, it’s only valid for Woolies supermarkets

  • +1

Can I stack with other Woolworths Gift Cards option? I could normally buy them with 4% discount

    • +1

I'm in the same boat so I tested this. It can't be stacked. It's a separate online store to the supermarket.

Still, a 5% discount is better than the 4% I usually get 🤷‍♂️

      • +14

        Thanks for testing.
It's actually not a 5% discount, but a 5% increase in value. Gave it to a schoolboy, and he said it's only a ~4.75% discount :P

        • +2

This is correct. Still better than 4%

  • +5

In case anyone was wondering about the comparison with 4% off (via Entertainment Book or similar), since it's not quite as obvious as 4% < 5% (extra value vs. discount price)…
    525 / 500 = 1.05 dollar value per dollar spent
    500 / 480 = 1.0416666667 dollar value per dollar spent

    • +16

      Perhaps:

      1 - 1/1.05 = 4.762% off
      vs
      4% off

  • +17

5% extra is roughly 4.76% off.

    • 30% off lettuces is a bargain!

    • +13

Of course Aldi is cheaper. They work very hard to sell imitation products and nothing else!

I don't begrudge you buying at Aldi, but in no way is your statement reasonable.

      • +10

No, Aldi despite being a foreign company does its best in getting Australian made products on their shelves at cheapest price. Woolies and Coles don't give a scrap, they're willing to ship pre baked bread from Ireland and do all the trick all their books make it Australian (by cooking it for another 15 min) to please off investor.

        • +5

Foreign ownership is not always a terrible thing, you can have some Australian companies that act horribly in Australia and some foreign companies that do the opposite.

Yes, more then often Australian companies do better, but one thing that works in Aldi's favour is that it is a private company owned by the Albrecht family, so doesn't have to appeal to it shareholders and does not have to be as cutthroat.

I notice a lot of private companies tend to be better with their staff, suppliers and others they deal with then a lot of public companies.

          • +1

@Pcoder: Aldi are notoriously cutthroat with their suppliers. Worse that Wollies and Coles, I don't know.

            • +2

@petal666: Not sure what you are talking about, but here is a recent news story from Aldi's UK operation: https://www.theretailbulletin.com/food-and-drink/aldi-voted-…

Can't find the Australian articles but Aldi always paid its suppliers on time and doesn't require them to buy shelf space.

              • +1

@Pcoder: But what do they pay their suppliers? Take Aldi branded white sugar for example, it doesn't come from just one supplier, their buyers take it from where ever they can get it the cheapest and still meet quality requirements (which is pretty easy with refined sugar).

If the Aldi buyers hear that CSR is taking less sugar this month from a supplier as the weather is colder and the soft drink manufacturers don't need as much, they'll swoop in and say 'well take the rest, just at 15c/kg instead of 30c/kg'. It's business and they are there to make money, but it's Aldi first and not the supplier.

      • +5

There’s heaps of brand names at Aldi now, also Coles Woolies has just as many, if not more because of their range, own brand items.

Aldi isn’t as super cheap as it used to be.

Oh, don’t buy their tinned black beans, it’s only 33% beans compared to Woolies own brand 60% for around the same price.

    • +1

LMAO. know your worth, obviously lacking from your statement. Costco is more expensive than woolworths but people still buy there. QE foods is disgustingly expensive and people still buy there

  • +2

Shows as "Wish Gift Card…" on bank account/statement- just info. for anyone that might be churning/turning over cards (e.g. new CCs) and desiring to keep it not too obvious that one is doing so via gift cards.

    • +1

But they still count as eligible purchase for minimum spend correct? (Giftcards).

      • Hopefully so, but in all cases I'm not sure, perhaps it could put someone's account on the radar in some instance.
Maybe a more experienced card churner or other will chime in on this.

        • +1

No issues in purchasing gift cards for meeting minimum spend.

  • -1

    No stock

    • How do you run out of stock of an e card. Must have had a specified amount before cut off, which is not mentioned.

      • +1

        Yeah in T/C

      • +2

It’s digital, so they give you the finger when they’ve had enough

  • +9

anyone been able to add to rewards app or Money app? both aren't accepting mine

    • nope. same issue as yours.

    • +3

      Same here.

To be fair, the gift card uses a prefix I have never seen before, because this is not a regular Woolworths Supermarkets gift card. (For anyone wondering, it's 628000 902.)

My guess is that Woolworths needs to roll out an update to patch the Woolworths Money app. I doubt Woolworths will roll out an update to the Everyday Rewards app anytime soon, because the Everyday Rewards app still does not accept most Woolworths Group gift cards.

      • Have loaded and used Woolworths store GC 6280 00721……. in the money app and rewards pay previously, no issues.

        • I added Woolworths store GC 6280 00721……. in the money app and rewards pay previously too, but this one came with 6280 0090…..

      • Interesting to see how compatible or not these various gift cards are with the Money app.

I have the Essentials eGift Card (prefix: 628000 415xxx) which loads onto the Money app but I cannot actually SCAN the digital bar code at the Woolworths self check out register. To get it to work I have to manually enter in the in-store code on the card reader.

        • I swear the Essentials gift card is cursed.

I once had a physical Essentials gift card where you could only redeem it if you selected Card at the checkout. If you selected Gift Card, it wouldn’t work (even though other physical gift cards could be redeemed if you selected either Card or Gift Card).

          • @WookieMonster: I had similar with the Coles card. One let me swipe the other required a scan. So weird.

    • +1

      same issue here

    • Coming here to post the same comment!
The pin box just doesn't come up, when I then press add it says

      Invalid Gift Card number

      In the rewards app

      Gift Card cannot be added
This type of gift card cannot be added to your wallet yet.

      • I'm having the same issue :(

      • Same here

    • i knew this will be rised here, ozbargin never disappionted me. having same issue, guess i will have to carry the email around when i am at check out.

    • Same here. I add to Stocard

    • +2

I've confirmed with Woolies - this "promotional" card can't be added to the apps. I've asked for a refund.

  • +2

Anyone else getting this error message?

**Something went wrong. Your payment has been unsuccessful at this time.

Your card hasn’t been charged. Please try again using your Credit or Debit Card.**

    • Same:(

    • Its working as I just bought 4 cards.

    • Mine says instead:

Something went wrong. Our system is temporarily unavailable.

  • Just wondering, with all these discounts does it amount to being cheaper than shopping at ALDI?

    • Depends on what you buy. If you buy branded items and feel that Aldi copies are just as good then Aldi can be cheaper.

Unfortunately my favourite breakfast cereals do not have a like for like alternative that matches the taste and quality I'm used to at Aldi.

Some items are just as good such as milk but not much price difference so with 4 or 5% off and a Woolworths reward point or two Woolworths is cheaper.

  • +1

Perkbox has 5% off Woolies digital gift cards…
Rather pay less up front, ie $95 than $100 and have to spend $105

    • How to buy off perkbox? Do they also sell Coles GC?

    • -1

How do you sign up for perkbox?

  • -2

Can it be used to pay the ATO?

  • -1

Woah that’s a lot of up vote. Mobile woolies get you 4% off woolies card everyday.

  • Ordered mine 30 mins ago, no e-gift card yet. Anybody else having delays?

    • It took over 90 minutes from placing the order to receiving my gift card

      • +1

Oh, it's been like 12 hours for me. Hopefully I didn't get scammed. Ordered over 500

        • I ordered yesterday afternoon and it still hasn't come through.

    • i order $5 and $250 last night . $5 comes $250 still waiting

  • +4

So the [VIC] 5% off Woolworths Wish eGift Cards via Seniors Card Portal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/705267

    Would be a better deal?
    1. Wish cards can be used are more than just supermarket.
    2. 5% off instead of 4.76% off?

    • Definitely a better deal because of flexibility. Just need to hope that you can also use any Coles $250 mastercards to pay for it to boost the discount.

  • Does the 5% bonus get sent as a separate gift card? Or does it appear in the cart? E.g. I buy a $100 gift card but the cart shoes $105?

    • +2

The amount gets topped up after you checkout. E.g cart will show $100, but the eGift Card that gets sent to your email will be $105.

  • +3

Placed my order last night at 5:30 Pm Sydney time, no gift card yet. Anyone same ?

    • Same

    • It may take a while. I bought mine at 1:30pm yesterday and it came through this morning at 6am.

    • Same, epic waiting time
