I imported a few pallets of the Logitech C270i's to keep up with demand. They're worth a quarter of the price now.

Imagine if you had a webcam with dual microphone during the pandamic. You would be the envy of the entire workforce…

If only more people actually turned on their webcam.

        • Mostly because they just woke up in their jammies, and made it to the 9AM standup just in time.

        still doesn't answer my question

    • +3

Yes I have one of this. It's got very good 1080p res and sound. One thing is this camera is a little wide angle so may not suit some but at this price I don't really care.

      • Thanks so much for the angle info, kills it for me. You saved me.

    • My uneducated guess is it won't be good. https://reincubate.com/support/how-to/why-are-webcams-bad/

Chinese Beijing or Chinese Taipei ?

        • Normally all Chinese call chinese, no matter where are you from.

          • +6

@superforever: except the hongkies and taiwanese.

            • @CyberMurning: It's funny that way, being "countrist".

Like being a Chinese from Malaysia, calling out being "Malaysian Chinese" specifically so as to not be confused with being China Chinese.

Same as Hongkies, Taiwanese, Singaporean, Malaysian, Pinoy etc.

              • +1

@zeomega: That is normal like African Americans but they are all African.

          • @superforever: So Singapore Airlines is Chinese?

            • +1

@bargaino: Singapore is a Chinese language nation if that is what you mean? Same same lah.

p.s. I'm Malaysian Chinese. I usually make the distinction so others don't ask me questions about what China is like. Because I don't know. I've only been there as a tourist.

      • +4

West Taiwan (i.e. mainland) or Taiwan?

      • +9

No it's not. chinese is chinese, Taiwanese is Taiwanese.

          • +10

@canberrascooter: Nope. It's like saying Germans are Germans, and French are French.

              • -3

@canberrascooter: That's because the Taiwanese government claim to the entire mainland of china. Get educated.

      • +1

        Not the same

        • -7

Yes, people living in the Republic of China is NOT Chinese. Make sense

          • +5

@canberrascooter: The commonly and internationally accepted demonym is Taiwanese. It's typically the China Chinese who wants Taiwanese people to be calling themselves Chinese.

Let's acknowledge it's their own damn entity and they can call themselves whatever they want. Should they want to start calling themselves Taipeisean, let them do so. Stop trying to instill shit on people which they don't want.

            Cue HK riots for example.

          • @canberrascooter: Ethnically Han. Happy now? Man-child

    • +6

Taiwan's national name is Republic of China. So I guess that technically makes them Chinese too?

      • Yes, that's because Taiwanese government recognise the mainland as their own. That's why have they have name "China" in its official nomenclature.

PRChina should be governed by Republic of China/Taiwan system of democracy.

        • There are many Chinese floating around, such as Chinese living in the PRC, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, and the list goes on.

However, in terms of nationality, Taiwanese is definitely not a citizen of the PRC. At best, the current mainland is occupied by the rebel force since the Taiwanese government's exodus from mainland.

I guess to avoid confusion, the PRC should call its people PRC-er/mainlander than merely Chinese.

        • -1

Actually Taiwan's democratic government was defeated in the Chinese civil war, and finally retreated to Taiwan. If PRChina should be governed by Taiwan's democratic government, why did they lose the war?

You know why the North won the American Civil War.

          • @ZYDMZ: Because they only won the war on the Mainland. Not on the island of Taiwan.

            • @[Deactivated]: Then why loser should govern where they lose?

              • +4

@ZYDMZ: They are not. That's the point. They are governing Taiwan. So chinese is chinese, and Taiwanese is Taiwanese.

                • @[Deactivated]: It's hard to say. Both governments have never signed an armistice agreement, which means that the war is not finished. Taiwan's government wants to get back to the Mainland and Mainland wants to get the island.

No one wants to see the war again, but that's the truth.

      • -1

      • You can monitor prints remotely via octoprint.

  • You can use your phone camera on your computer too if you don't want to spend the cash and put it towards something else. Just google it I'm not sure if I can't paste the link here. It's simple.

    • I tried. While the idea is good, my phone kept disconnecting

      • I haven't had any issues but you might have better luck using a cable if utilising WiFi or setting up a hotspot on your computer and connecting the phone to that.

        • Usb. Keeps making that delightful windows dc sound

    • Mac users will have this function with their iPhones soon with macOS latest

I missed out on Facebook Portal TV $79 (Was $229) Shipped @ Facebook - OzBargain

  • +2

I bought this webcam and used it for a few days.

The quality is good but this issue is the video shows a wide angle around you i.e. you can see yoru entire room and contents, plus the the person looks distant unlike a normal laptop video camera which mainly gets just the person or their head in the frame. fish eye effect.

I'm handing it down to a mate and will buy something else..maybe Logitec C922 however this is $119 so 4 times the cost.
