This deal from prime day is back. Many people poo poo cheap projectors but I was thoroughly impressed by this one even in a non-pitch black room. Pair it with a fire stick or other streaming device for a quick setup and quite portable screen solution with quite decent keystoning flexibility.

Decent for the monies paid, hooked up with a firestick and the kids love movie weekends, projected to a white wall.

    • Same, I will point out need a good 5m or so for a decent sized projection too

  • +1

No optical zoom at all and image quality not as good as e.g. the old blitzwolf vp6, but the keystone correction and UI are better on this one, and it also gets brighter.

    • Vp6 discontinued isn’t it? When I was looking the closest was maybe the vp13 at similar price bracket but questionable seller

      • Yes sadly discontinued and none of the newer models seemed to have all the same features.

      • Would the vp13 be an upgrade for this?

I'm looking for something around this price up to $400

Already have a very cheap projector, looking to upgrade… or just get this?

    • Any video or reference in term of keystone correction? We need to project 20-30 degree unfortunately. Thanks

      • is there an easy way to measure this? assuming you mean shift it 20-30 degree up/down/left/right, i think it would be about 20? Its decently adjustable. Mine sits on top of a high shelf, and the picture is shifted down about 10cm and to the left as well.

        • Thanks for the comments. Been thinking and reading reviews. I know this is a different kettle of fish

$2699 (another seller in Amazon) but ust and got good reviews. I just need a decent picture with good keystone… Atm I'm watching movies in trapezium shape… Lol. Thanks

          So… Vp15 vs this or splurge…

          • +1

            @Bargain-er:

            2699

thats ..nearly 10 x the vp 15 haha

i think short throw tech is awesome but just way out of my budget for impulse buys
Id rather just get a decent tv for close to $1500 ish and then just wall mount.

            • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Thanks, do you know when the promo will expire? Thanks

              • @Bargain-er: No idea mate, it’s still on atm. Don’t worry will definitely be back I bet - as other member pointed out v7 is out (just not in aus it looks like)

                • @Jimothy Wongingtons: You made me look. 😜 $330 ish for v7

                  • @Bargain-er: Thats Amazon US isn't it?

                    • @impoze: Yeah US. Assuming we can change power cord.. Unfortunately we can't use amazon aus credit balance. I have some credits to use.

    • I have the VP6, picture very good for the price, only a bit noisy.

I think VP6 also no zoom.

    • VP6 going strong. Value 108" pull down screen on sale from selby, google tv, bluetoothing to samsung soundbar (cabling not easy).
      Solid setup, would recommend.
If anyone knows how to improve the sync between google tv and soundbar please let me know.

      • I put a long HDMI cable but may not possible for everybody.

I've had this for the last 3 months and honestly for the price it's pretty damn amazing. I have it in my room to the side of my bed shining on the grey wall in front. Use it with my computer and chromecast and i'm blown away by how good it is. It's obviously a step down from a name brand high end unit but for the price i'm super happy. Even right now i'm using it in a room that is pretty lit up by the sun and i can still see the image really well. It's a little noisy with the fan going but you get used to it. And if you really want to watch movies you'd be better off connecting it to some speakers of some sort too. The speaker on it is decent but not great. Good enough for watching footy with friends but i wouldnt like to watch a movie with it. The kids probably wouldnt mind too much though. I have heard there's pretty bad lag if using a bluetooth speaker with it so i'd avoid that. I use mine hard wired to a google home max speaker and i love it. Just my 2c. Well probably more like 20c. :)

    • i found the in-builts more than adequate actually , i did try my anker soundmotion plus bt'ed to the fire stick and no real noticeable lag

    • Which HDMI to Optical adapter did you get?

      Cheers

    • You found the keystone feature is very usable? My current projector keystone is not great. Thanks

      • +1

As i said previously i use mine to the side of my bed facing the wall directly in front of my bed. I use the keystone for this and like most things with this projector it's definitely good enough. On the right hand side where it's being corrected the most there's definitely a softness to the image but you really need to be looking for it to notice it. Again for the price this is excellent value with what it does.

  • 4K Supported. I can see in details but anyone who owned the device can confirm?

    • +1

I got this from the last prime day sales too and from what I noticed even hooking up the 4k firestick it displays upto 1080p only. Having said that the video quality is excellent. The sound is loud too but certainly not as good as a soundbar or surround sound connected to it.

The fan noise is noticeable in a quiet environment but for most movies and depending on how far away it is from you it easily gets droned out. Mind you I have it projected between 4 to 6 metres away from the wall. Excellent quality for the price tho overall.

    • +3

It’s 1080, idk where on earth they get 4k from. Bloody Chinese marketing

      • Got it. thanks guys

      • Like some of the cheaper options that will take a 1080p signal, but output at 720p.

      • +1

Yeah, 4k supported means you can play 4k video at 1080p

        • Well I guess it’s not technically wrong , but wtf aye hahahah - Chinese marketing is wild

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Wondering any projector can't, I think most can?

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I've got an older version, and it won't play 4k video.

So yeah, technically true (the codec supports it), but won't play it.

            • @tunzafun001: do you do it through the native software? surely would be no drama if using a streaming stick, pc or console or similar?

              • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I don't currently have anything with 4K processing ability to test it. Maybe my laptop via HDMI. Actually, my poor mans Go Pro is 4k. Will try it later.

    • +1

I think 4K supported means it supports input source of 4K? Just some marketing crap

  • +1

Ah what the hell! I ordered.. have a cheapo projector at the moment that is still well used, so this will be a nice upgrade. Thanks @Jimothy Wongingtons

  • can we put this off centre to the wall ? like a little bit from the side.
also what is the minimum distant to get decent size of projection ? (say 50")
and no auto keystone correction i guess?

    • Yes can be off centre - way off centre even.

I would recommend minimum 5m , keystoning will affect size

No auto but it’s seriously so easy to keystone correct, it takes maybe a minute to get it just right. Only 4 points to do.

      • minimum 5m is just for the biggest projection?

        • Minimum for a decent projection. I have it at 4m and it’s good for what I want, a screen for my gym. I think 6-7 would be better

      • damn 5m, not enough from side table to ceiling on the bedroom.
to the wall maybe but yes need to be off centre.
        hmm tempted

        • the amazon description shows 1.7m for 50"

          how accurate is that?

          • @impoze: oh yeah there is a photo with the distances.. hmm not sure

            • +1

@CyberMurning: I didn’t take note at the time, I’d say 4m I have closer to 40inch, but I have it very adjusted via keystone- I’d have to check again tonight.

        • As long as nothing is in the way, it works well off centre.

Some commenters in the last deal had a similar set up to you.

  • +1

Tempting. Hard to beat for the largement compatibility.

  • slightly less lumen but cheaper
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09DKTQWMR/

also, few weeks ago there was a projector deal that come with the display screen cant remember which one/how much

    • also 720p vs 1080p

    • Usually goes on sale for $130.30 and yeah only native 720p not 1080p

      • $144 at the moment

    • Lumens not ansi and i think overestimated

  • Got one! Thanks

  • +1

I bought one but sent it back as projector brightness not as claimed
I projected compared to an old projector i had and it was inferrior

    • +5

This kind of cheap projector needs dark room to watch, no matter what Lumens they said.

  • Anyone comnent on sound quality if coming out of headphone socket to an aux in speaker?

    • +1

I can’t really see this as being an issue ..

      • Cheers, that will be my set-up until I get a new speaker set or soundbar

  • Thanks Op. ordered.

  • -1

This is the older model, the v6. The current model is v7

    • +1

is v7 available in aus ? I can only see a listing for it on amazon US.

  • +1

I bought one from last sale without even having room for it. But it's so easy to take to someone's house and setup.

I'm loving the value. The quality even without a dedicated screen was so surprising. Can't wait to see if a screen will improve it further.

    • Let me know if you find a good size screen for cheap that isn’t a disappointment. Many of the sub $100 ones I can find have reviews that say it has crease marks, it’s basically a hangable white tarp it looks like lmao

      • +1

If you have somewhere to hang it this might interest you. Got the 108" one on sale mid last year for $157. There is a 90" currently for $169. No complaints other than that it squeaks while being pulled down or retracted. You might even want to try asking whether they would be willing to reduce the price, as there's nothing to lose and they are pretty friendly.
        https://www.selby.com.au/electronics/projectors-accessories/…

        • Wow what the heck free delivery over $29 ?! Freight is crazy expensive these days. Looks pretty good. Will also look at options for ceiling Mount.

  • how is everyone's projector going?

    • I’m still enjoying mine

    • +1

I'm loving mine! The picture is great in my opinion the only downside is the fan is noisy. I use a set of noise cancelling headphones when I watch stuff in general or if we are both watching then I have an aux out from the headphone to an external speaker - it works okay.

I tried to pair to the Bluetooth onboard from the UI but it doesn't play when you are using the HDMI ports only when you are playing local content off a stick (unless I missed something) so I have to pair with my Google Chromecast TV which can only support one audio device (when is multi-device going to be a thing!?)

Also would like to be able to disable the silly clicking noise of the UI, it's too loud :)

The kids love it so that's another bonus.

      • nice, are you just projecting straight or offset and keystoning?

        • +1

Well mine is in a (bedroom) wardrobe cupboard onto a wall opposite and have it offset but I am happy with the results.. the shape isn't exact but you don't notice after a minute. Also we had a really cheap 720p projector that this replaced, so this one is better in everyway.

The only con is the fan noise, as guess as we are sat fairly near - it's most noticeable at night if we are both watching a show that is quiet/talky, etc. But I have read that all chinese projectors in this price range right up to higher priced ones can be noisy (we're noise fussy/sensitive, a lot of other users might not mind).

Should also note that we have shutters that block out all light in the room, which makes a big difference.
