  • dan! That's some good news!

    Menulog > Ubereats

    • +18

Unless when it comes to customer support

    • In what? Because it's not in user interface design

      • +8

or delivery speed. or support. I order food almost every day and I haven't used Menulog in months, it's that bad. the only provider where there's a moderate chance my order will literally never arrive and 2 hours later i'll have to argue with support for a refund. cbf.

        • +1

the only provider where there's a moderate chance my order will literally never arrive and 2 hours later i'll have to argue with support for a refund. cbf.

There were 2 of them but one shut down…

      • in musical ensembles lmao

    • +3

No. If you are a regular customer and have needed to get refunds for missing items, very quickly they will ban you from getting refunds even if its legally required.

  • +32

And then Menulog goes into administration lol

    But good on Menulog

    • +28

      But good on Menulog

I mean, they're not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. They're banking on this winning repeat business and loyalty. It's probably way cheaper than paying Katy Perry or Snoop for another campaign, plus all the ad spend that goes with it.

      • +1

I agree with you and that is likely true not to mention the good publicity but the alternative is that Deliveroo customers lose hundreds of dollars so better than nothing.

This is in contrast to when Dick Smith went under and people were able to get refunds for their gift cards.

  • +12

I wonder what Menulog is getting from this? A chance to go into administration? They are even making a loss…

    • +45

I would imagine if they're offering this then they have the cash to do it. besides, it's a great way to acquire new customers

      • +31

Yup customer acquisition, nothing more complex than that.

      • +6

        100%. It’s a great marketing decision.

      • +1

But doesn't most people have multiple food delivery apps on their phone? It's not like anyone is 'exclusive' to a single platform? You're likely just acquiring your existing customers who just happened to have bought some discounted Deliveroo vouchers.

        • +3

Most, but not all. I definitely haven't been using menulog at all since I got 6 months free deliveroo plus from mastercard.

        • +1

Ozbargainers are the top 1 percent

        • +2

Maybe so - I'm an existing customer of all apps. Menulog was bottom priority for orders from me prior to this, a lot of the time I wouldn't bother checking their app unless I had a specific Menulog exclusive restaurant I needed.

Unless any other food delivery provider matches this Menulog will probably now be the first app I check if I'm after something, so in a sense they're acquiring an existing customer.

      • +7

it's a great way to acquire new customers

        There's two types of people:

        • People that have UberEats installed
        • People that have UberEats, Menulog, DoorDash, Deliveroo installed

There's no one that exclusively used Deliveroo or anyone that will exclusively use Menulog.

    • -1

A wonderful marketing campaign —-> a food saviour for the starving

      • +1

you mean like how ftx was trying to save voyager / blockfi / celcius ?

        • +1

you mean like how binance was trying to save ftx

        • For these sort of deals ya batter be quick

    • +6

Kind of a loss leader strategy to an already active userbase with the highest intent to purchase, interesting to see how many people stay on

    • Couldn't they also become creditors with the number of deliveroo credit they accrue ie higher up the food chain when deliveroo go into liquidation?

      • +1

        Unsecured creditors probably get nothing

  • +15

shopback, learn from this, dont be a cheapie

  • Didn't think to post as a deal, I posted as a forum post haha

  • +2

oh the good news that I needed today.

    Its been a bad week

  • +1

So instead of giving customers $5/$7 off every day, they’ll give it in one go.

  • +12

And they've offered to break-up my voucher into 3 x $25 instead of one $75 to be used as a once-off! Good customer service!

    • how long did it take for them to get back to you?

      • +3

10 minutes for the first reply - yet to get the vouchers tho!

      • +6

Annnnd I just got the vouchers too!

    • +1

      Nice, I got 1 x $50 and 1 x $25.

    • +1

      What is achieved by this?

      • You can order twice instead on once.

  • +8

Watch all the people who have already applied for a charge back against shopback now go and claim some or all of their voucher through menulog.

    • -6

Wouldn't be surprised if they did. People who immediately charged back only cares about themselves and don't care who they rip off to get their money back and earn profit.

      • +15

“People who immediately charged back only care about themselves”

        Moronic statement of the year.

      • +2

        Ok Mr Shopback employee/shareholder

      • +3

I know I buy from daddy bezos to support his 54th Yacht! Who's going to look out for him if I dont?!

      • +5

How can you rip someone off to get your own money back? What does that even mean?

        • I think that statement was badly worded. It's just agreeing with the post above saying people may unethically benefit if the chargeback comes through and they also utilised the Deliveroo credit on Menulog.

        • It kinda means some ppl try and get twice their money back. And those types of ppl are ‘bad’ ppl.

  • besides from marketing… what does Menulog gain from this? new customers?????

    • +2

This will probably be taken from their marketing bucket of money.

      • +13

This is probably the best advertisement you can do.

targeting people who are already customers of a competitor, and in times of need.

    • +13

New customers who are such heavy users that they’re prepared to shell out to get gift cards.

      • +3

        addicts with a 'track' record.

    • I was on the fence about whether to subscribe to ubereats or doordash now that deliveroo is gone and after seeing this am now throwing menulog into the mix for consideration…

  • +2

Nice, my credit is $73 so maxes out the $75.

  • +1

Strange how the shopback deal was 25% off $100 = $75

And this Menulog thing is exactly max $75 too

    Bit sus

    • +1

      Why’s it sus, exactly?

      • +1

because it's exactly $75 after shopback cash back which probably is no cash back anymore

and the promo was buy $100 get 25% off

seems like the number evolves around $75

        • +1

Could be because AUD$75, is about USD$50

        • @poor ass You probably mean revolves… Evolves is what the human race is failing to do :/

    • +2

"Angel number 75 can also be interpreted as a sign or message from your guardian angels imploring you to embrace the changes coming your way. To benefit from the changes, the angels urge you to make important decisions and life choices with conviction. "

You heard it here first! Embrace the change!

  • -1

    75 across 3 accounts yay.

    • Did you use different Facebook accounts?

      • Yeah I have 2 then my partner had 1. 3 FB 3 Menulog 3 Deliveroo all exisiting accounts.

  • -3

Anyone got a screenshot they want to send me 😂😂

    • +2

the voucher will go to the email address in the screenshot anyway

      • -2

        plus they verify too

        • +1

How do they verify? What’s to stop you from photoshopping a screenshot? There’s no one at Deliveroo to verify with.

          • +1

@Frequenter: No one knows how they verify.

Just let the people who have deliveroo gift card get their menulog credit.

            • -3

@CodeXD: I’m one of those people, and I also have absolutely no issue with people taking money from a massive corporation like Menulog, who (profanity) over their workers.

              • +2

@Frequenter: if they have x amount allocated, and someone will legit missed out cos you photoshopped 5 deliveroo accounts with $75+ credit.

              • -2

@Frequenter: And that's why we can't have nice things.

  • Good on Menulog, I've already deactivated my account but only had $2.01 credit leftover.

  • +1

The unused gift cards are still in my shopback account, only $3.5 credit left in Deliveroo account, what to do now?

    • +2

You need to redeem the gift cards first. Depending on which denomination you have, you can maximise menulog credit by redeeming on different deliveroo accounts.

e.g. if you have 5 x $20 deliveroo GC, redeem it across 2 accounts ($60 and $40) to get the full $100.

      • Thanks for the hints. It looks like I can still create new accounts.

  • +3

Good marketing response…. Will be interested to see what ShopBack does

  • +16

Next week: Doordash Honouring Menulog Credits/Gift Cards

    • Because of customers rushing to redeem their $75 thanks to our comments?

    • +1

shopback is runing a 15% on doordash gc so i guess dorrdash is on the same path as Delvieroo:)

    • +2

Next week: Menulog has gone into voluntary admin

      • There’s still Saturday to survive…

  • +3

I have some of the gift cards still in my email. Haven’t added to my Deliveroo account yet. So I need to add them to Deliveroo then take screenshot?

    • I'm wondering about this too. I have gift cards that I haven't redeemed yet. Should the process be add them to Deliveroo account then contact Menulog with a screenshot of my Deliveroo account?
