    $250 for a hose?

    • +3

      Supposedly a “buy once” hose

      • Bought Aldi's one over the weekend. 30m - $50ish maybe cheaper.
No idea how good/bad it is.

        • +2

Mines been out the front of our house for 2 years. No discolouration and no kinks

          • +2

            @brocky2006: Maybe I should have bought 2 . Front yard/backyard

          • +1

@brocky2006: Can confirm this. Bought a few when they were marked down years ago and still going strong.
Just got to remember to turn the tap off when not in use.

        • Sorry, was it $50 cheaper than this or paid $50?

        • some stores had one on clearance about 1-3 months ago for about $30 I think

        • Have the 20m retractable reel ones from 2019, they've stood up to multiple Qld summers and are going strong.

    • Pretty cheap if you remove the 's'

      • You mean if you move the s. And by that, I mean shoe

FYI I was looking into this as well and I didn't need a super long one.

I came across this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/750777 which give me the item number 0335999

There are plenty of these across states: https://bunnings.youinstock.com.au/search/0335999/ - I bought 3 yesterday myself.

This only comes in 15m and is the previous gen which you can "screw" it down to the ground instead of needing to secure it against a post, which I actually prefer but might not be everyone's pick.

For $75 a piece though, I'd pick this over the current gen which is about 2.5x the price.

    • 15m vs 30m tho

    • I thought were the same gen, just of different design

      What's your thoughts on it?
My cheap hose keeps kinking and blowing the fittings off when I use my pressure washer.
Didn't want to spend much on something I use once a week but if the $75 is worth it I'll consider it.

Seriously, I would hardly call a 6% discount a bargain. Any PowerPass cardholder can get the same, or better discount.

    • How did you get better than 6%. What does it show in Powerpass?

      • I see $252.55

      • On my company PowerPass I get 9%

  • I've got one of these in it's 20m variant and by far the best hose I've ever owned, always retracts perfectly, and no leaks or other issues I have gotten from cheaper options in the past.

  • I purchased two of these and its been over a year and been great and still look new.

From memory I paid around ~$200 from FlowerPower who were doing a 20-25% store wide deal.

    • It doesnt look like they sell them anymore - could only find Bunnings or limited stock at Amazon/Ebay

  • you get what you pay for, and you can easily tell the difference when you use it.

$250 for a hose that only has a 5-year warranty?

    • What are you comparing it to?

      • Nothing - I'm just surprised that a premium hose with a very high price tag only has a 5-year warranty.

  • +3

What drop in Hoselink quality are we talking about here?

  • What about https://www.aussiehoses.com.au/ - they're $169 delivered and installed for you.

    • $269 for 30m from Aussie Hoses with 2 year warranty vs 5 year on the Gardena
      Free installation is helpful though

I've got this, had for about 2 years
    - 30m is very heavy once its full of water, so if youre old or weak be prepared that trying to drag it to the back corner of your garden at the full 30m is going to be taxing.
    - due to its weight it also puts an extreme amount of pressure on its mounting point when you pull from 20m away. I've unded up using pretty fat batten screws to hold mine onto the structural timber of my house
    - Retraction isnt perfect every time - 90% of the time it wont retract the last 1m or so
    - doesnt come with a good hose trigger, just a 90s style jet > spray nozzle
    - got it for around $200 thanks to a bunnings staff discount hookup
    - hasnt developed any leaks so thats good, and hasnt given me any other issues, so i guess - if you aint having issues with your hoes then you got a decent hose

  • Does anyone know of the method to attach these to weatherboard house?

    • +1

There are spaces/packers for flat mounting to weatherboard available at Bunnings etc. Maybe that would work

  • Hmm. I bought similar from ebay 2 years ago. Paid around $80. Using it almost daily. Still fine.

    • Thats a big saving! Do you think it is comparable? I would be interested to know more. Is it 30m? Do you retract it fully when using? Does it get exposed to direct sunlight?

      • I cannot tell whether it is fully identical to the Gardena's product. The hose I got includes copper fittings. I retract it fully. It gets some direct sunlight as well (a few hours a day). Now it is $135 (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/132507177318) - inflation I suppose.

My Hoselink is going strong. Also not sure on the 6% discount warranting a post.

    • I've seen 3% eBay discounts and cashbacks get plenty of votes.

      • Exactly, I've seen posts with no discounts, just spamazon/ozadvertising/aldispecials get plenty of votes.

Doesn't look like something worth that money

    • Not many reviews to go on at product review.

Bunnings product page has a few more with pictures showing decent quality

  • You guys know that if you don't think it's a deal you can just not upvote it?

  • -1

On sale at Woolworths for $242.10

    • Do you have a link?

    • That's a different product

  • -2

    Correct, it's an update model
"Our brand new Charcoal Retractable Hose Reel includes all the same great features as Hoselink's classic Hose Reel range, but in an exclusive NEW colour scheme. "

  • any one know the diameter size of the hose. is it 13mm. for a good watering experience i think it needs to be atleast 15mm for a 30m length of hose especially if you have low water pressure
