$2 Coffees in The Sydney CBD

Do they still exist or are they total unicorns now? I'm back to office a day a week and missing the days when Heyyou had $2 coffee deals.

Does anyone know anywhere with coffee deals now? I'm near Wynyard but haven't seen any apart from redeeming the free ones with the MetCentre App points.

Also missing cheap lunches now that Hunter Connection is closed… So devo =(

Thanks!

but at what cost. I find 711 coffee to be absolute rubbish and would rather not have coffee at all. but to each their own

I thought 711 coffee is pretty decent.

I agree. In a pinch it’s not bad.

        • I've found them to be extremely milky and weak, but I'm used to small double shot coffees so that's just my own personal preference.

@coffeeinmyveins: Pro tip. You can customise your drink at 711. Make 2 espresso shots and add hot milk. It is all in 1 cup right. No one said you cant make multiple selections.

              @KaTst3R: It's good tip. Thanks.

            • @KaTst3R: I thought everyone did this. The cost is based on the cup size.

              • @GG57: Definitely not everyone has thought about it. I didnt think about it until i saw someone did it at a servo years ago.

        cost

its $2 lol , and definitely a step up from moccona or blend 43 at work site.

I usually do the $2 one, and just do 2 shots (hit short black twice) and top with water.
I wouldnt know about the milk based ones.

why would you quote one word that takes what I said completely out of context?

"But at what cost" doesn't mean monetary cost. I meant the taste/experience.

and definitely a step up from moccona or blend 43 at work site.

          Debatable IMO

it's better then instant coffee. of course it's not going to stake up to a barista, but then again you are paying 5 times the amount over a $1 coffee.

        • I thought 7-11 has upped their prices? a small coffee are now $2 and large is $3 I believe

          • +2

@FW190: they did, but you use there app to bring the price down.

    • +1

with the app or a reusable cup it's 50cents off

  • Coffee is typically $4-6 now depending on what options you add (eg a double shot oat flat white is $5.5-6). There is no chance you are getting a $2 coffee for obvious reasons anymore.

    Your best bet is:

    1) Make coffee in the office
    2) Use rewards cards (typically 1 in 10 free)

  • I'd get a dedica coffee machine and decent beans and make yourself.

  • Hunter Connection is closed?? That place is awesome.

    • +1

yeah, apparently to make way for Metro………..

      • So temporarily closed? Surely not permanently?

Oh wait OP said it’s being knocked down below.

        That absolutely sucks.

Get your company to invest in a basic machine. Order coffee pre ground. Cost the company almost nothing and keeps you closer to your desk to do work.

    • +4

90% of the reason I get coffee is the nice long walk away from my desk.

  • Hunter Connection closed?! No cheap bahm mi??

These a place next to Coles that has a cheap burger.

  • 7/11 Iced Lattes are MINT

  • Gone are those days matey. Everything has gone up… beans, cups, lids, milk, utilities. For a while cafes didn't pass that onto their customers but that isn't sustainable so something had to give. I paid $5.50 at my local the other day. Last year it was about $4.50, a few years ago it was around $3ish.

  • Do you have coles servos in the CBD? Theirs are a bit better than 7/11 in my opinion.
My standards are pretty low though.

    • Not sure if the machines are different between Coles servos and the new Coles Local stores. I've been pleasantly surprised with the Coles Local self-serve machines ($2 for a small latte, haven't tried the long black yet). I've even tried a couple of different Coles Local stores and the taste is consistent.

Not sure if there are any Coles Local in the Sydney CBD as I haven't been back to the office for quite some time.

      • I agree. Had 7/11 coffees on and off for years but only recently found Coles Express is much better and also now 50c cheaper. They also give you the option to make it strong for no extra.

Feedwell opposite of Republic has $2 coffees during off-peak times.

    Nespresso Machine.

I bought one left it in the office bring my pods. People use it as well.
Management saw this. Told me to bring home my Nespresso machine and they bought in a bigger machine.

    Talk about management flex…

  • If you have a machine at home, put a shot in to a thermos. When its coffee time pour in hot water and some milk.

Guzman's Australia Square has $2 coffees if you order through the app

    • yess awesome!

  • Hunter Connection is gone? Been years since I was based in the CBD for work. It was always going to happen with its location but still, dam :-(

    • Yeah it closed last month, going to be knocked down for the Metro…

  • That's a shame about Hunter Connection being closed.
I used to get my $4 beef stew with rice and $6 beef kebabs there.
You'll have to go to Coles or 7Eleven for a cheap coffee.
