Rex is a full service (checked luggage, carry on luggage, refreshments) airline, flying mostly 737-800NGs on these one way routes (Ex Virgin planes).

They're running a promo where their midweek fares are less, so I've gone through some more 2023 dates to find the cheapest flights on all their routes. Hopefully it helps someone!

On some of the dates, Jetstar or Virgin may show up cheaper if applicable (eg $40 on way on some of the routes with Jetstar), but Rex does include checked luggage and refreshments, while Jetstar and usually Virgin now charge for checked luggage (on their Lite fares). All include carry-on luggage.

    Flew Rex for business the first time a couple of weeks ago. So good! Friendly crew, delicious food, comfortable seats. Would highly recommend.

      Keep an eye on our pages, Jetstar's Friday sales are a good bet, as well as Virgin's Happy Hours (usually Thurs arvo). Wait for them to come on sale.

    Anyone had first hand experience with Rex for:

    Travelling with kids (ie can bring extra pram etc)?

    Taking oversized/ Snow gear (ie Jetstar charge $25 per piece, per leg)?

    Jetstar + Virgin dont know their own policies (Jetstar tried to charge us for a pusher). Virgin checked it..and then lost it for 3 days. Did drop it off eventually.

        Cheers, but that link/ their description is very confusing.

        "Infants and Children - The carriage of prams/strollers is considered as part of the "free checked baggage allowance". If the baggage weight exceeds the free checked baggage allowance, Additional Baggage is available for purchase at booking or via the Customer Contact Centre (CCC ) by calling 13 17 13 otherwise normal excess baggage charges apply at the airport.

        What's "Free checked baggage allowance" - this heading appears nowhere in the table. Going to assume they mean Strollers etc are part of your usual paid 23kg etc for eco? (so no actual free allowance for kid specific items - Which all other airlines offer)?

        and

        This bit is a complete mystery "Prams/strollers may be used until boarding free of charge under "Safe Hand Baggage" for regional and domestic flights. Please ensure that prams/strollers are tagged by check-in staff before the flight closure time."

        So I can use my own stroller for free? That's nice of them ;)….. "until boarding under Safe Hand Baggage" - what does this even mean? I can use the stroller, but then when boarding I need to pay? Makes no sense!

        Hence, any first hand knowledge
