  • Can anyone that has one recommend?

I'd pay the extra and go with a robot

      • Agreed. I had the MX6 (I think) and it would always get stuck on leaves. Even when it worked I felt it did a lack-lustre job.

Maybe it was due to having a small pump (for a small pool). I upgraded to a "robot" cleaner and it's much less frustrating.

        • Thanks both!

        • this, I have a big tree next to my pool which dumps leaves. my mx6 is always getting stuck. daily. I'm tired of unclogging it.

when it's not stuck it's okay.

usually I'll swap in my creepy crawly which works better with leaves.

      • Agree too - I also have an MX6 (I think) and it gets long things wound up and stops. The internal gearbox is plastic and broke on mine just outside warranty and it was difficult to get it replaced (Zodiac didn't care so had to lean on pool shop relationship with them to get me the part).

The Zodiac hoses also break down approximately every 18 months (see: https://www.bunnings.com.au/baracuda-1m-twist-and-lock-hose_…) and they are expensive and have a proprietary connector so are not easily swapped out. I am currently looking to replace the Zodiac with a robot.

      • Any recommendation on the robot front? Have a very old Zodiac G2 so probably need to update, so trying to decide between something like this or any other options.

Good deal here, I got it last year but it also had a caddy and cover, however it runs so well, does the walls and pool line etc.

    • Have had an AX10 for 6 years now, wont be going to a robot any time soon and have converted 3 robot users as well. I live on the edge of a reserve and have lots of leaves, I only scoop when the kids are getting in the pool.
My neighbour bought an MX8 about a month ago and loves it.

Biggest thing is you can just throw them in and let them run, dont have to empty them or rescue them. They do have a little yellow piece in the throat that you should pull out and chuck if you have gum leaves though.

Get a cyclonic leave collector too.

I have one but don’t have much to compare against. It does my pool well. I have a slim shelf around the edge of my pool about 2ft under and it struggles to climb over that shelf but it does get all corners of the pool below this line. I leave in pool pretty much most the time and run it about 4hrs a day. About once a fortnight it might get clogged with some stringy leaves from the palms but very easy to flip and clean and drop back in again.

I’ve contemplated robots but weirdly my pool shop who sells them said that the mx8 is actually easier to maintain.

Or add code “lovemum” and get 10% off making it $689.05 delivered

  • Your pool filters are very overpriced. Ebay is much cheaper.

I got the MX8 yesterday after a lot of research, I wasn't wanting to get a robot one yet. I will see how it goes and provide an update
