Shut up and take my birth date

    • +4

Nice…i wonder how many actually require validation with some form of ID. I wonder if someone just turns up in their birthday suit with no id, can they still claim the bonus?

      • +1

Hatakaya is one that requires ID check. Boost Juice, Chatime, HJ, Mos, San Churro and some others don't but do need accounts.

      • They have never asked me for ID. Cold rock icecreamery did.

  • +9

This deal gonna get shut down when the top tier OzB crew go in every day with their "birthday" claim.

    • +6

You sure not 3 times a day?

      • +6

I, once again, underestimate this community.

    • some people are that dumb

    • It’s my birthday today somewhere in the world.

    • Hatakaya Ramen already did :(

    Free Whopper on Your Birthday

Everyone gets a free whopper on my birthday?

    • +6

Wow thank you, you're very generous. When is your birthday?

  • +2

Are Hungry Jack's changing to that alternate logo? First time I've actually ever seen it being used.

    • +1

      looks exactly like burgerking

      • +1

I mean they're the same corp

        • +4

          Slightly more complicated than that.

        • +2

I believe HJ just licenses the Whopper and other menu items from Burger King. I could be wrong though.

          • +1

@KARMAAA: Doesn't McDonald's HQ in the US basically just license McDonald's rights to McDonald's Australia too?

            • +1

@AustriaBargain: Sure, but HJ isn't a direct subsidiary of BK. Maccas Australia is a subsidiary of Maccas US.

              • +1

@KARMAAA: No, McDonald's Australia is not a subsidiary of McDonald's in the US. McDonald's Australia is actually owned by a consortium of local franchisees, with the global McDonald's Corporation holding a minority stake. However, McDonald's Australia still operates under the McDonald's brand and follows many of the same operational standards and menu offerings as other McDonald's locations around the world.

Burger King changed their logo couple years ago, now its same design as HJs like they had prior to 1999.

When Burger King had logo redesigned in 1999, logo redesign was also done for HJ's but it did not get used until now with this promo.

        • +3

Yeah Jack C has to be taking the absolute piss to finally update the logo after two decades RIGHT AFTER burger king changed BACK to an older (albeit redesigned) style.

          • +3

@DingoBlue: Probably just graphic designer working for Burger King in US made the image and used wrong logo. But that would be funny.

  • +2

Literally the best. I have many accounts with birthdays set on different dates just for this! So every once in a while I get a free whopper feed (+ freebies from the Shake & Win to compliment)

    • Be careful. The multiple account police will neg you

    • +4

      365 accounts?

      • +2

I guess he knows four years in advance that he won't want a Whopper on leap days.

    • How? I thought it was locked to your phone number? Maybe I'm wrong…

      • +1

Nah I use the same phone number across every account

        • Thanks, good go know. Just wish there was an hj's near me, closest one is almost 20 minutes drive alas.

the rewards voucher section has been empty just more than a month since april. I could not even see any single voucher show up at this time. The shake reward is now fixed about a week ago but definitely could not see the birthday whopper voucher right this moment.

    someone else have other experience?

    • +1

same. My birthday was last month and I checked a few times on different days but the voucher failed to show up.

      • My birthday wasast month too
I got the email and voucher end of last week. Used it on Friday
Email said something about it almost being too late, so claimed it that day. Nothing showed up until then anyway

      • That has happened to me before but support hooked me up.

    • +1

Looks like a few including me missed out during the app outage?

    • +3

I had a good rewards promo, but it wouldn't let me bloody order it in the app. And the last time I rocked up in drive thru they said "we took off all our codes", the hurt I went through paying full price for HJs in years….

  • +4

It actually Is my birthday today!

    Time for free stuff!

    • +4

Well then have a gloriously magnificent birthday ain't it.

  • +1

Wasn't the whopper free on your birthday previously but without the $1 spend?

    So they've made it worse?

    • +4

If you just go through drive thru or in store, you don't need to order anything just let them scan. It's just the app that restricts you

      • +1

If you have to use the app, just add extra meat to the burger and that justifies the spending of the $1

    • -1

Why did I have to scroll this far to see this - HJ have been doing birthday whoppers for years, with NO spend …

  • +1

Didn't need to be posted as a separate deal. This has been long running and is already part of the birthday deals wiki.

    • He/she just wants the upvotes

  • Nothing new….

  • I just updated my profile, its my birthday next month

    • Smartypants!

      • no, it is my birthday in June and I had no birth date or postcode on my profile at HJ

  • -1

It's not free is it though.

    • Maybe you could try posting a deal…

      • -1

Why so sensitive fellas? I've only commented what (don't know about the others) I have been experiencing using the app. If you louts are getting the full benefits while others are not, well hope yous don't choke on it. lol

        • +1

Haha louts, I love that word, like yobbo or geezer.

  • Oldie but a goodie

  • +3

    Hungry jack make you fat

    • Not if you eat it once a year! 🎂

      • Surely at least twice a year with a 2nd account? The OzB way.

    • -1

      Hungry jack
      Make you fat
Food come out of greasy vat

  • I collected mine the other night. My birthday was back in April but they added it to my app freebies and apologised for forgetting my birthday. I could not customise the burger in the app (I wanted to add cheese) and had to take the stock Whopper.

  • My birthday was in April and the deal has popped back into the rewards section! Second free whopper here we go

  • This has been goung on for years, i remember when i got the app a fee years ago, i get a voucher for a Whopper just before ny birthday.

  • I hope I get it this year, for some reason last year it never showed up in the app….and I have had the app for years and have had this deal in the past

  • +1

I’ve redeemed the free birthday whopper the past 3 years. From my experience you should receive an email with the birthday whopper freebie a week before your birthday, for those who don’t see the voucher in the app. Check your junk/spam folder.

FYI they had acknowledged that there have been issues with the Rewards Vouchers and Shake and Win sections of their app that was ongoing for many weeks but it appears fixed now.

  • From personal experience the app was having an issue on my birthday when I tried to redeem and I was left frustrated the voucher disappeared. Perhaps you can only redeem it before your birthday

  • My birthday is tomorrow but still haven't received my voucher yet, although I have always received it 3 days before my birthday every year.

  • just did it now for a birthday taking place tomorrow 17th May but nothing shows up in app's reward section. Does the birthday need to be futher in future ?

  • It used to be free pick up at counter but now a $1spend is required so it's not free.

    • +1

you can still pick it up at the counter and drive-thru. the min. $1 is for app orders.

  • Nothing for vegetarian?

    • yes you can substitute a rebel whopper

  • I found out that you can send your birthday to the next day and you will be able to redeem it for the next day.

  • +1

They changed the times of this, used to be 3 days before and after and now it's arrives on the day and is valid for a week

    • Thanks for the update. Happy Birthday.

    • yes and you can use it multiple times within that period :)

      • Only if they don't scan the barcode

  • +1

    minuteinbox gang rise up.

Get deja vu whenever old deals appear on the front page, masquerading as new posts…

    • Huh is this a new feature?

      • +1

Yeah it's a "Repost" feature, but it's not that new. Instead of expiring the old deal and posting a new deal, the old deal and it's comments get bumped back up.

  • This year I went to a store and they did not bother to redeem it, they simply gave it to me.
Then I tried at another store and they redeemed it. Can't complain - two Whoppers for the price of 1!!!

  • Local restaurant has said they don’t give birthday whoppers in the past but it has been two or three years since I tried.

Half the time they can’t even scan the barcode from my phone for vouchers. The only things I can get consistently are the paper vouchers which are getting more expensive every time I make a link from OzBargain post to my Safari web browser. They usually look at it quickly and find some button on the register that matches.

The barcoded ones can be hit or miss. Often then don’t scan but they take my phone and type in the code manually.

Birthday Whoppers is the only one I’ve had trouble getting redeemed.
