  • Do I have to listen to music for these to block out the annoying chatter from the hour long mobile phone conversations on the train. Hope I can just turn these on without plugging into a phone or music player.and escape the yakkity yak yak

      NO!

    • +2

i have some Sony ones i use on planes and just switch them on and listen to nothing… Can hardly hear the engine hum when they are on…

    • +4

I have bought two - I am going to connect them in series adn get 180% noise reduction.

  • Would you be able to do a deal with the LED Lenser T7 Titanium Torch again?

    • +4

      NO!

      JB HiFi = RIP OFF

      • Just pointing out that RRP should be about jbhifi price and not $200 and surprisingly jbhifi is cheaper than ebay :S with ebay selling some around 170 locally

        • +1

Just so you know, the JBHIFI price you posted was with 30% off already factored in. If you go on the main page, they say 30% off pioneer headphones, and when you click that link it takes you to the price you posted, so I think the RRP is higher.

I've got the Bose QuietComfort 15 and i absolutely love them when flying overseas, but for this price i could't resist not buying these Pioneer ones.
    Some reviews about them: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SE-NC31C-K-Headphones-Black/pr…
P.S : i love my $18 Samsonite laptop bag from the last Cotd deal ;)

    • Yeah same, I have the QC15s - they are amazing (I am often seen with them on whilst mowing the lawn)
however they are 10x the price of this. Also my wife cannot tolerate over-ear style noise cancelling ones - she feels like her head is congested (as if she had a cold) so we'll see how these in-ear ones go!

      • +1

LOL … the main reason i bought these is the wife, so i can enjoy my QC15's :P

  • +1

How well would these work on Sydney Buses?
I hate the loud bus sounds and would like to know its effectiveness :0

    • they should do a pretty good job on reducing the engine noise…

the other advantage of using these is because they reduce the ambient noise, you can have the volume lower which is better for your hearing…

    • I tried using some over the ear noise cancelling phones (Panasonic) on Canberra busses but have all but given up. There is extra noise injected into audio by the way in which the noise cancelling microphone reacts to the quick shifts in what I assume are changes in air pressure. Not an issue on a plane (given they are generally pressurised) but in a large box on wheels….

      • +2

Performance of noise cancelling headphones has nothing to do with cabin pressurization!
There's a good chance your Panasonics are just crappy

  • +1

Amazon.co.uk have them for £65.84 ($100 AUD). Some weird reviews. Noise leakage (people next to you can hear your music), one woman complained that it didn't block all noise around her. Good for blocking a/c's and airplane noise. For $100, probably not worth it but $40 is worth a punt.

EDIT: This was posted here 2 months ago when it was $70.

    • I'd only expect them to do a half decent job at blocking ambient noise, not all noise…

  • Thanks - bought - going to Bali in a few weeks will try them out on the plane, hopefully are a bit better than the rubbish Sony MDRNC7 ones I bought last year - the worst headphones I've ever owned.

  • +20

    I got charged $39.96 :(

    • same here ….

      • The invoice still says $39.95, so I wonder who is pocketing the extra 1c ???

    • me too… :)

    • I got charged additional 1c too - Same as the LL T7 deal.
This was raised before but the REP never responded - WHY?

  • +4

sweet!! Just what the mrs needed since i accidentally put her sennheisers through the wash.. thanks !

    • +1

now she won't have to put up with your ambient noise in bed…

    • +48

Good way of teaching her to do all the washing in future. Thanks for the tip.

  • Thanks for sharing, can't resist at that price!

  • +2

Catch has been coming through lately good job

    • +3

Well after commonly being referred to as crapoftheday it's been in their best image to rebuild their image.

I tried to put in another order for a second pair, as suggested by QQQ, but it's telling me "You have used the coupon the maximum number of times allowed per customer.1 times."

    • +3

      have you got 4 ears?…just joking! :)

    • +1

      just set up another account…

    • -1

Same here. Code (PIONEERNOISE) is not multi use.

      Thanks Rep. Bought 1, can't purchase another…

Just got me a pair. Thanks OP.

      fastest delivery ever !!!

  • +1

QQQ any chance of you redoing the deal for the T7 for those who missed out?

Cheers and keep the ozbargain deals coming.

    • -1

      NO!

    • +1 for t7!

  • +1

Great deal, also just grabbed one. Thanks.

  • +1

Just bought a pair. How long does it usually take to ship from COTD?

    • i paid for the Samsonite bag Wednesday the 8th and got it Monday the 13th

    • last time i purchased something, it only took about 3-4 days…

  • +1

Seems like a good price for noise cancelling in earphone..sold

  • The last thing I ordered from COTD (Lenser LED T7 Torch) hasn't arrived yet, in fact it was delivered to another address (?!) and I've submitted a request to look into this.

Anyway, I'm going to bite the bullet again, order this and see how this order goes… here's hoping my optimism isn't a fool's errand.

    • +12

Hmmm… I recently received a Lenser LED T7 Torch in the mail, and I've never ordered one !!! :O

      • Haha good one :D

    • +2

Well I received mine T7 2 days after ordering, can't complain about that.
Looks like you got unlucky, but if they are trying to sort it out then it is ok I think…

      • I submitted a request over 24 hours ago, still haven't received a reply, but I'm still hopeful. I'm amazed you got yours so quickly!

        • Ok so my parcel has somehow disappeared and no one knows where its gone. Anyway, they've refunded my money.

On a related note, the earphones are apparently on their way today, but they're following the exact same tracking path as last time… I certainly hope this parcel arrives!

  • REP - Can't do multiple orders with the code.

    • you can with multiple accounts…

  • Might be a silly Q, but how do we know these aren't counterfeits? I'm not suggesting that CoTD knowingly/purposely do so, but earphones are one the biggest counterfeited items. I took the punt anyway and purchased a pair :)

    • +4

Because they are labelled "Pioneer" and not "Poineer"

      • +7

I was thinking more like "Pionear"

        • +1

          or Peeonurear

or…it's not selling at BigW like the Pioneer tablet…

  • +1

thanks QQQ just got them, I should ask for more bargain stuff ;)

and to think I was going to bed without checking ozbargain!

  • damn it.. I'm a sucker for noise cancellation. Been looking out for some in ear ANC23's on amazon to drop price. Happy to give these a go at $40. Will go nicely with my two other pairs of noise cancelling headphones!

  • +2

Good to see us getting a share of mr packers wealth in such savings .. Thanks guys !!!!

  • Sorry to go a little bit off topic but which is better out of those or these?

Just spent $150 for a pair of SONY NC100Ds, oh well, at least my SONY looks better.

  • +1

    bought.
damn you QQQ, my budget hates you.
related; much love for sharing some epic codes as of late.

  • How do these compare to the Sennheiser CX300's (the "backup" earphones I'm using atm)? I recently broke my HiFi-Man RE0's (right-side stopped working) and want something of similar quality.

  • +10

QQQ i got these from COTD a week ago for $59.95, any chance i can get some cash back?

For anyone interested i have used them a couple of times. This is what i have to say:

    1. Unbelievably comfortable in the ear, cant feel them in the ear and awesome after extended use.
    2. Noise cancelling is great with music, podcasts, radio videos etc
    3. I bought them for the bus/train as i feel weird wearing over the head earphones anywhere other than a plane or at home. These perform aswell as my expensive noise cancelling over the head Bose QC3
    4. The noise cancelling unit is a bit weird to place. Seems the best way to do it is run the cable under your shirt and clip it to your waist band. Cable is just long enough to allow for this and head movement. For nudist clip it to ur clock :P
    • +1

" For nudist clip it to ur clock :P" Silent "L"…? lol

    • +2

Any suggestion for the nudist without clock.

  • +10

Catch of the day has actually been doing good deals recently. Give us more QQQ!

    • Looks like their reputation has been doing better also

      • I agree, could not complain at all

  • I already have some noise cancelling earphones, plus I hardly listen to music through earphones anymore, yet I am strangely tempted at the moment :s

  • +2

Bloody Hell…OzBargain has yet again robbed my wallet, and I'm strangely satisfied!!!

  • +7

Bought, you win this round QQQ.

    • Yup just bought a pair..pity this didn't come up earlier as I'm actually on holiday right now and would love to have had these for the flights.. And almost bought some the other day for double the price

  • Thanks Rep. Just bought a pair for my brother. I know he'll love them. xox

  • +1

    Sold. My first CotD purchase.
Everyone should just be aware of the technicalities in sound measurement that allow manufacturers to claim figures up to 90% noise reduction when in reality it might sound like it's 10-30% less noisy. These things are still pretty useful though. If you're not listening to anything in particular I would always recommend a good pair of ear plugs over noise cancelling headphones, they work better, they are smaller, and you don't have to worry about batteries.

  • sigh just impulse bought >_<

i hope these are better than my brainwavez M4 that i bought for $30

    can anyone comment?

  • Thanks rep, these can be used as my cheap alternative to my Sennheiser IE7

  • +1

some people are asking how they work on buses and trains. its hard to read reviews because some people expect the world.
    1. bus - it will drown out 80-90% of the humming noise of the engine. but you will still hear it accelerate.
    2. on the plan again 80-90% down but you will still hear kids crying but at a reduced rate.

i havent got this pear but a sony pair. worth the buy at this price.

  • Also purchased - thanks.

  • Bought one for my US trip in September… for US domestic flights.
    Thanks QQQ!

  • Can someone who has these comment on sound quality please deep bass etc thanks.

  • +5

    Purchased.

    QQQ - single-handedly lifting COTD's cred!

  • Purchased. I recently bought skull candy ones for $50 and the noise was very tinny. These seems a better upgrade :)

  • Just got one.

An update this coupon allows $20 off the price of total purchase value if you are buying these headphones. So if you buy one headphone you pay $39.95. If you have two headphones it would charge full price for the next one. In short this price is limited to only one per account as some have pointed to above.

May OP should consider including the limit in the post.

    • -1

He has, you have not read it carefully.

      • -1

He has, you have not read it carefully

        Have you?
OP (Rep) gave wrong info. Multiple orders DO NOT work!

…Create multiple orders if you want multiple pairs

        • +1

I have bought 2 but yes I will take that comment back as it forces me to create another account to purchase more than 1. I have just realised after I went in to buy another one.

  • +1

*Sigh, I don't even need these.
