  • How is the Operating System and app compatibility on these? Hard to get clear reviews. Would be nice to hear from actual users. Is it laggy? Thanks.

just get TV box either Xiaomi TVs 4k or if you with apple get Apple TV. Even on higher end TVs its quite crap compared to Tv boxs.

I’ve got one. They’ve recently updated the firmware and it’s no longer laggy. Super snappy now.

    • Vidaa is terrible imo

    • +1

Viida is one of the best if you want "TV stuff" it does enough to actually be useful, but not so much that its like a touchless phone.

Some love this (i do) some find it super limiting.
Look up a list of viida apps and see how you feel.

For anything else, I have an Intel computeStick stuck in the side of the TV.

I hate the OS, it's so clunky, my 10 year old Sony is way better.
I do use a Nvida Shield instead of Vidaa, but even the general interface is crappy.

But the picture quality is amazing!

    • My Hisense is a couple years old running VIDAA as well. It is ok for what it is. I run everything through my Chromecast TV and only use FTA on the TV itself. From the limited use of the OS I have it is passable, better than some, not as good as others. It wasn't particularly laggy but wasn't as fast as the Chromecast either, and there is much more app support on the Chromecast as well. As with any TV, get a ChromecastTV, AppleTV, FireStick, ROKU or whatever and be much more happy and just let the TV be the screen.

Seems like a good price for a mini led, I would probably aim for a TCL C835 though for a bit more, and get Android TV as well.

Normally this Hisense is $100 more than the TCL I think. Brandwise, I'd probably prefer Hisense.

Yeah look I mostly agree regarding Hisense being the better brand. The problem I have with Hisense TV's in particular is that they give us in Australia crappier cut down versions of the same TV they take in the US, do most reviews are not really like for like and accurate. Plus I just bought a TCL 65" C835 and want to think I made the right impulse buy :p

  • does this suffer from half resolution at 120hz?

    • +1

Hisense AU website says 3840x2160 120Hz over HDMI 2.1 is possible

I've had this TV for awhile now. I do sort of regret it. There is definitely something wrong with the default playback mode, and the 100Hz/ "super clear" mode is completely broken (you'll have to make custom picture settings for each app you use it with to turn it off as it is turned on in all the defaults it seems). Not actually sure how the picture modes on this TV passed QA. Going to check if there is an update I'm missing now.

My last Hisense (U9HAU) had quite a few issues that eventually lead to its return. Bad viewing angles, juddering, blooming/bleeding and problems with 120hz on PS5. I subsequently purchased the LG CS and have been extremely happy with it - obviously a very different price point but definitely worth the premium if this is going to be your primary TV.

    • Yep, this. I think "juddering" is the word I was looking for to describe the thing in my comment above.

  • Need something bigger, how to find a good deal soon

From personal experience Hisense TVs are buggy with random compatibility issues particularly when connected to some hifi receivers and non-Hisense sound bars. I’m up to 3 separate instances with different models including my own plus assisting others. Never again. Support was useless and they never release firmware updates to fix what can be proven software and compatibility bugs. You just have to live with it as Hisense don’t guarantee compatibility with anything other than Hisense. So unless you are planning to use it as a standalone TV that isn’t connected to anything then best to spend the extra and get a better brand such as Samsung, LG or Sony. Suffice to say I won’t be buying or recommending any Hisense TVs at any price point.

    • I have a Hisense TV and I run a full surround sound system. Use the AVR for all my sources and connect the output to the TV. Use ARC for FTA. I have had 0 issues with sound, control etc. I do not use CEC as I have a Harmony remote setup and I probably never will as it is always annoying at times no matter what the brands or products are, CEC may be your issue but as I said not using that I have no compatibility issues. I have gone through Yamaha and Pioneer AVR's and a few different BD players, game consoles etc. as well.

Not sure if it matters much but this one has IPS panel that's the reason I'm considering the C835 instead of this one.

    • -1

      Far superior TV.
      Wouldn't touch an IPS panel.

  • Full array micro-LED TVs when?

    • +1

There's no mass production capabilities for mircoLED in tvs yet, and they're only just starting to enter this phase for phones. Expect their price point to be higher than OLED.

  • I love my current Hisense but this is probably out of my budget

  • +2

I have one of these. I had to fight tooth and nail (5+ phone calls) to get "support" to send me a beta firmware update, as I was experiencing audio distortion/garbling/dropouts when using a sound bar. The blooming is terrible on dark scenes, has backlight bleeding around the edges more than I'd like, and overall just a buggy feeling firmware experience from day 1. Will be my last Hisense. We get the gimped version here in Australia, and my understanding is that the American market version is significantly better.

  • How does this compare to the old n7 series? I still quite like image on the old one but would really like 120hz refresh, at this price it seems hard to beat.

  • Good price. Is there anyway to order with premium delivery option so my old TV could be taken away?

    • +2

Just a thought (may not suit your circumstances), maybe join a local "Buy Nothing" group on Facebook? We give away heaps of stuff that is still usable but when we can't be bothered with the frustrations of selling (and because giving is more fun).

    • +1

You may need to call TGG after placing the order.
