Soft Serve Cone with Cadbury Flake $1, Hot Apple Pies $2 @ McDonald's

1210

Part of Macca’s Loose Change Menu. $1 Soft Serve Cone with Cadbury Flake is back! Not bad considering the normal soft serve is 85c.

They also have $2 Hot Apple Pies and have brought back their Raspberry Custard flavour, for all those sweet tooths. Enjoy!

Is the ice cream machine working now?

    • +9

just wait outside until the ice cream machine breaks again and order an ice cream through the app. They'll offer you the apple pie for no additional fee.

      • this is why i always get soft serve. depending on the person, they could give you 6 pack chicken nuggets.

        • But I don't like the chicken nuggets, I want the oreos

      • +1

Really? Didn't know this "hack " existed

      • A true ozbargainer

  • +18

They have been $1 for months, weird they are trying to make out this is a deal. We got them for the kids on the way to QLD in May. $3 to shut all 3 kids up for a few hours, was great haha.

    • +7

Takes them a few hours to eat a cone? Lol

      • +1

Don’t ask me how, but eventually the flake melts and they regain consciousness

        • +9

Interesting fact flakes dont actually melt
According to Science Focus, the Flake's manufacturing process means the way the fat and cocoa solids are arranged is different to other chocolate bars. This means the fat isn't able to adequately lubricate the cocoa particles to the point where they flow, and so it can't melt

          • +1

@turk182: Betcha a nice shiny nickel I can melt a Flake pretty easily

          • @turk182: So death by chocolate is if you accidentally inhale a flake? Gotta love science

          • @turk182: I told my girl ages ago that fats in soft serve etc. can stop it from melting. She held a Mr. Whippy icecream from Sydney Flemington markets all the way back to Liverpool. And it didn't melt.

          • @turk182: Why do I always have melted chocolate crumbs all over my shirt when I eat a Flake?

    • Confirm, been a dollar for months now.
Source: apparently I've bought quite a lot of them in the choc ice cream version…..

      • Is choc better than Vanilla? Haven't tried the choc version

        • Can't get choc at HJs so it's worth getting at the $1 with a flake price at Maccas

  • +5

    Great deal.

You can also get chocolate soft serve with flake for $1 in participating stores.

    • Great to know there's a list
How do I plot an entire state in a map?

    • +1

      Don't, it's terrible.

  • +1

Ice cream machines are working once again, but now its the frozen coke machines that broken

  • +13

Will always be a 30c to cone, still haven't bought one since.

    • Do you apply that same mantra to other food items?

      • +3

Yes, I stake skips at night.

      • +9

The difference is that to those living back in the 90's they were actually called "30c soft serve cones" - Maccas even called it that in their advertising. The name didn't really lend itself well to inflation…

Old 30c cone ad for those who want a bit of nostalgia

    • +3

Stop Livin’ in the past, man!

      • +1

This is the future, old man

      • +3

'your hung up on some clown from the 60's man!'

  • +2

Holy hell! When did they cop a 70% price increase on the soft serve cone?!

  • You reckon the flake is worth 15c

  • Anyone have trouble logging in the app? I have existing accounts but it keeps asking me to enter details as if it's new account and then showing 41490 error when I submit.
I have two accounts and switch sometimes, could it be the reason? Did they somehow found out?

    • Try clearing cache or storage for the app may be

      • I’m on ios, deleted and reinstalled the app many times. Comment below matched my situation, probably due to gmail + trick.

    • Yeah since a week or two ago I can no longer log in to my gmail address accounts with "+" in them, app treats it as making a new account but then says account already exists, so it's stuck in a loop. Have to make new accounts without the gmail trick to replace them. I reckon Macca's have intentionally made it like this.

Luckily didn't have many points on any of those accounts (~1k at most).

      • I used the same + gmail method, I have 2.9k and 2k points each :(

  • +1

Wait what .. a soft serve is 85c

    • Flake = 15c

  • +3

Look at all the old cooks coming out of their caves and noticing the 85c tag now!

    • +1

Mate I’m only 30 and I can’t believe it’s been that long since I’ve bought one to realise the price has gone up.

That being said I only remember 50c cones, so 85c isn’t a hard swallow. Comparatively, I remember 45c cinnamon donuts at Donut King which are now over $2 at some stores. That’s probably the largest prince increase I can recall from growing up. Then again my mum talks about 6c paddlpops 🤣

they never display the loose change menu on the menu board, very annoying

    • +1

with those digital screens, waste to display such cheapies

      • but given they are designed to get you in and spending it makes sense to show them

        • nah they just show the 15 dollar meals with the bonus points and big numbers look good

          • @Jollystacker: urgh you are right. depressing how expensive the regular stuff is there now

            • +1

@perfectlydark: besides lets be real, if you are a real ozbargainer you aint buying anything on the board. you got 273 accounts thru 273 emails and you scouting the cheap stuff on the app

            • +1

@perfectlydark: Mcdonalds is the worst fast food out there and terribly overpriced. I don't mind a coffee, apple pie or a soft serve every now and then, but that's about it. These loose change deals are a good way to use up the gold coins from my metal detecting adventures.. seem to get a never ending supply of them

    • I think the staff do that because they’re sick of serving cones

  • $1 Large Frozen Coke is the reason I visit Macca these days

    • Ain't slurpees better

      • Depends on which is closer tho

      • No more $1 slurpees on app :(

        • uh ohh, the end of days is approaching

        • +1

Wow silently disappeared. I guess it's time to say good bye to 7-11 app

  • I wished they offered the soft serve as choco top as well just like in Malaysia :(

  • I don't think the $1 cone/flake is a new deal. I'm sure I bought one a few weeks ago.

  • Just was at Chatswood Interchange, $1.75 Apple Pie / $1.80 Raspberry Custard via Kiosk but still $2.00 via the app.

  • Pies used to be $1 loose change notnsonlong ago:(

  • Soft serve with flake has been $1 for ages.
Soft serve; plus flake; is more.

  • What's the cheapest everyone can remember soft serve being? I can remember it being 30c, cheapest I can at least remember going (although I don't remember going to Maccas when I was super young)… I am an old bastard tbf.

    • 50c was solid for me

      • Yes, they were good days too. Good innocent days.

    • 30c was the initial price and widely advertised as such. That’s why many people still call them “thirty cent cones”.

    • +3

I remember it at 30c, which it was last at in 2014 apparently https://issuu.com/srcpubs/docs/honi_soit_2023_semester_01_we…

      • Oh wow. I didn't realise it was so late actually. I think by that stage, I was making McFlurry type money and I let it go to my head.

        • +1

Yea reading more into it, seems it may have dropped to 30c for a while as part of their loose change menu. From what I remember, it was up to 50c years prior to 2014 (like in early 2000s even).

  • feeling like a soft choccie night run.

just gotta work out wheres closest to me

  • +1

Last time I ordered a soft serve through the app it charged me 85c. Interesting though, the drive through menu said 80c.

    • +1

Facinating. Hey, next time I'm finding it hard to get to sleep, can I call you up for another one of your timeless anecdotes?

      • +1

I don’t know why, but some people really find the 80s fascinating. Live and let live, I say

    • Most locations charge 85c but some have it at 80c. Closest 80c one for me is Marrickville Metro (NSW).

  • I can remember when Big Mac's were $1.45 in those styrofoam boxes. Hamburger was like 65c and they just had them piled up in rows in the hot box. You just looked what was sitting there in the box and just ordered one of those burgers… True fast food.
