          cancel & move on

        • -4

Wow, you are really poor if you have to burn through emails to afford a couple of dollars a mont!

          • -2

            @solidice: It was a suggestion….. never said that's what I did buddy.

  • +17

Is your microphone in use while using TikTok music ;)

    • +1

Camera, key board, contacts, messages, telemetry.. all the CCP

      • Might as well send them my passport and birth certi-
Looks like I've sent them that during my visa applications :(

  • +1

    lol

  • +18

When is this dogshit app going to die? So much degeneracy these days, shame Covid didn’t give us the purge we needed

    • +18

Come here buddy, give us a hug.

    • +10

The app shows you more of what you watch and like.. so… maybe you need to watch better things.
I'm very happy with the content it's feeding me - motivational/self-development stuff, woodworking, electronics, finance..

      • -2

And slowly molding you to appreciate authoritarian regimes. It's a win win!

        • -3

No more than your Chinese-manufactured computer/phone/items in your house..
Meaning - not seeing any political content if that's what you are implying

          • +4

@digitizer: I don't know how my microwave is moulding me to appreciate the CCP but okay…

          • +4

@digitizer: I assume you haven't been paying attention to social media influencing? Did you not see how Facebook pushed people in the US to vote republicans? It's in our history already, it's not really implying anything, it's a given. You are the product, it's a free service buddy. They push their own views/politics or purchased views onto you through recommended videos.

            • -1

@onlinepred: I see what you mean but disagree. I've been fortunate enough to understand 4 languages and see many examples of different media outlets telling the same story different, pushing their agenda, so I naturally always question everything I am fed. Like you say - I am the product, and making me believe in CCP ways is not helping anyone make more money. The ads I am seeing are to get my teeth whitened and get new clients for my non-existent business. With the content I am seeing, turning on the TV news for 3 minutes will influence me a lot more than scrolling TikTok for 3h..
              But yeah, YMMV

              • +1

@digitizer: You can disagree all you like, but it's literally the purpose of the service. To get you on to watch videos, and to subliminally feed you information to get a result they want. That's it. Not everyone was affected during the numerous Facebook events, and you can assume the same with TikTok.

        • I used to hold very negative view of TikTok for the same reasons you may have now. Honestly, it is a double-edged sword for everyone, even for the CCP… the exact nature of how the App produce contents and show to the audience made it quite difficult for the censorship from my observations….I personally have observed lots of anto-CCP stuff on the Chinese version of TikTok … of course they would have been taken down some time down the track but the fact it can surface is a win for the people.

          • +1

@mountaineer: To be entirely honest, if you don't use it much, or are very aware of what you are watching, it may not be a big issue. It's more that over time, the personalities or political bias may become more prevalent and you may not notice it. Just like Facebook did/does, they push political preferences/personalities/ads onto certain people, and keep data about your personality/preferences to be able to target you with political motivations later.

      • +1

        Finance

        lol

      • The app shows you more of what you watch and like.. so… maybe you need to watch better things.
I'm very happy with the content it's feeding me - motivational/self-development stuff, woodworking, electronics, finance..

I don’t use TikTok and never will.

      • +2

It's more that they have an army of psychologists designing the experience to be as addictive as possible to encourage doomscrolling.

        Also tiktok finance. Lol.

      • When people complain about tiktok content… thats a self report lol

  • +1

Is Optus in the game spreading propaganda for a foreign agent? There is CTGN and now TikTok

    • Optus is owned by Singtel

      • +1

        Which is in Singapore

        • Singapore is friendly friendly with China. They agree with most of china's authoritarian ideologies.

        • Yeah that's what I was referring to. Optus shilling for a foreign agent shouldn't be a surprise given that they're majority owned by the Singapore government

  • +2

    TikTok music 😂😂😂😂😂 what????

    • its just the 'Oh No' song on repeat
edit: beaten to the joke by several hours!

  • Don't get me wrong, tiktok is awful and ruining people, however, because it is ruining SO MANY people, celebrities are losing their power of influence, and instead being replaced with whatever weirdo that gets popular on this app.
If they are going to capitalise on the music portion of things, that could be a huge game changer for deleting a lot of today's top music artists too.

What a weird time… So I can just sign up to this but I need an optus account? What's the easiest way to get one of those?
I mostly study tiktok from a national security and cultural/historical standpoint.

    • +3

oh noooo those poor celebrities losing their relevance

  • +5

Oh great, now I can hear that "oh no" song on repeat whenever I want to.

    • +1

Oh no no no no no

  • +1

Same reaction here. TikTok video is already bad enough, now we have TikTok music? This must be the other reason why Putin plan to launch nuclear missiles at the rest of the world if this is how humanity has come to…

  • -5

    Christ

  • -1

    big brother is listening :)

  • scary chinese app is definitely my preferred dopamine delivery medium

    • +3

I trust Tiktok more than facebook and youtube put together . Google spies on you 24 hours a day, but it gives you its spy report at the end of the month.

  • +1

    mmmm ice cream so good!

  • Any workarounds for turkey subscription after 6 months?

  • "To be eligible for Beta you need to be aged 18-24 years" - gutted I'm too old for this deal

  • +1

damn why so many angry people on a wednesday morning

  • +4

Tiktok and by extension this music app is cancer!!

Extremely predatorial practises that push degeneracy and mental health issues.

Burn it and send it to hell from where it came from.

Edit: Nothing personal OP, just a despicable app / parent company with immoral values thats backed by the CCP.

  • This is just cherry on treat.

    Tiktok, Optus
Let us all guess what is next in their partnership lineup

    • Didn't learn there lesson from the last major hack 😒

  • Just go shopping for an extended period in Coles, guaranteed you'll hear many "DikTok" songs on Coles Radio.

  • Thank goodness! I was worried the world was going to cut back on subscription services! This news has really brightened my day!
