A few stacked deals here so bear with me.

First deal is being a "Friends for life" member (free sign up): -$62.50
Then you get a discount for starting a repeat delivery: -$5.22
There is a 30% off (max $20) deal at the moment for it being your first repeat: -$20

Sure the RRP of $166.99 is a bit inflated, but for a 6 pack of the 15-30kg pack, $79 delivered is pretty good considering there has not been a Nexgard Spectra deal in over 6 months and they used to be almost fortnightly!

Just don't forget to cancel the repeat order after you finish the transaction.

To save you the trouble, I already checked their x2 pack bundle and it is not eligible for repeat delivery so you can't stack the deal there: https://www.petbarn.com.au/bundle-307
This bundle is $198 and if you order two of the items I linked to, it comes to $178 so you are still saving a bit.
I checked about 10 other pet sites and this is the cheapest Spectra available at the moment and closest I could find to the regular deal price posted here.

Update: See @stuckster comment thread below, you might get it cheaper through Budget Pet Products!

Thanks - I swear I was going there tomorrow for the small dog pack!

  • OMG I had to get my dogs to explain all this. Cunning buggers tried to get me to eat the tablet hidden in the meat. Damn, anyone know the human antidote please.

      Go outside
      Pull your pants
      Sit on the grass
Whilst seated try to walk by dragging your bum across the grass.

  • Website just went down as I was ordering, might be putting a stop to this.

    • Same

      • Darn… Hope it's still there after. Just fed him the last one.

But unlikely they would shut down the site for 1 product… And at nearly peak hour as well

    • Interesting. Usually I post the deal and wait a few hours before buying in case someone points out there is a cheaper way. This time I just pulled the trigger as I posted. Doesn't seem like this was a hack so should be still available when their maintenance is done.

  • Not bad.
Still $93.09 for the 3.6-7.5kg. Boo.
Cheapest I've seen it anywhere since Feb is $76. Damn things never go on sale :(

Those are $70.24 delivered @ Budget Pet Products when stacking with Auto Delivery discount and coupon "VDHEOV" if you're interested.

Thanks so much, just purchased through them instead

Thanks doweyy, got green and yellow for $135

      • Thanks.
Used a couple of coupon codes through Honey including VDHEOV which seemed to stack (maybe an oversight) but got a 6 pack for 61.98 delivered!

        • Purple pack and letting edge try its coupons comes down to 69.10 anyway

        • Can you share the codes please?

        • Damn code VDHEOV is not valid. Did you use the app? I can only get the price down to $74.38

          • @jk1234: Yeah I can only get green down by $5! Bugger

      • Should i wait until it's dispatched before stopping auto delivery?

      • @doweyy
        thanks for that!

Guys, when I sign in, I can't apply VDHEOV. It says "Oops, the code entered is invalid."
If I sign out or use incognito, it applies when signed out.
The moment I sign in, it removes the VDHEOV discount.
        What can I do?

You know you can just cut these smaller? I get the larger dog one and cut in half. It's much cheaper

      • How do you keep the other half fresh for a month?

        • Just put it back in the foil pack and put it in a zip lock bag.

Might be an urban legend … but I read the problem with this idea is that the active ingredients might not be spread evenly throughout the tablet.

Of course, such a thing could have well been started by NexGuard!

        • Of course, such a thing could have well been started by NexGuard!

Of course someone in OzB could have made it up too! You just need to weigh up saving $5 on what someone on the internet said, vs the vet bill for the being sick or the worms, fleas, ticks, etc

        • Easy fix.
Crumb up the tab, to a fine mix, mix it up, split it in half, feed it.
The other half, just ziplock it and keep it cool until next time. No biggie, I don't think.

      • +4

        No you can't.

Jeez, unless any tablet has a score mark (that line across the middle), you can't just cut it in half and assume that you'll get a half dose. The active ingredient isn't often equally spread throughout the tablet. So it's possible to get 3/4 of the active ingredients in ine half and 1/4 in the other.

I actually thought about this for Nexgard, but two different vets confirmed that dog pills are the same as human ones and no score mark, means no guarantee of the active ingredients being spread evenly throughout the tablet.

So you need to weigh up whether the savings of $5-10/mth are worth the risk of overdosing (no so bad on these) and the chance of underdosing so your pet gets fleas, worms, ticks, etc.

        • I see what you are saying but surely the tablets we see were part of a bigger slab before they were punched out, or a longer column before they were cut up. How does the manufacturer know that each tablet has an even amount compared to the one next to it?

          • @7hours 44min ago: Because they're not part of a bigger slab. They're made in a tablet press using die (a mold)

Noticed how human tablets tend to be round/oval and these are squircles. And how they're coated on all sides with an agent making it easier to swallow? You can't get that coating just cutting tablets off a slab. Imagine the wastage of you'd have just cutting those shapes out of a slab?

Here's an old YT video about it.
            https://youtu.be/YBAswFuRJMU?t=132

            • @M00Cow: The tablet is for 15-30kg.. my dog is 10kg so by splitting a tablet it's unlikely she's going to get all of the active ingredient in one half and nothing in the other. Even at worst case if it's 3/4 of the active ingredient, that's 11.25-22.5kg and the 1/4 is 3.75-7.5kg.. both are pretty close to 10kg so I figured it should be ok. Can't be a major health risk if the weight range is so broad. Otherwise it would be like paracetamol etc where it's dosed by weight for children.

              • +1

@Chaffingbuttocks: Matey if you weight up the risks and are comfortable, good for you. But you're just guessing and some people might not be comfortable taking the same risks just to save a few bucks every month. But remember you haven't shown your hypothesis is true by testing the tablets. So telling people confidently that "You know you can just cut these smaller?" Is pretty disingenuous.

Personally as a kid I've had a cat die and another go lame from tick paralysis. So I wouldn't personally risk a pet's health because I halved a tablet and they weren't dosed properly. The vet costs alone would nullify any savings. But again it's your hunch and if you're happy with the risks, good luck and I hope you're right.

        • I understand some are to paranoid to break the rules but i get the 60kg pack and cut them in quarters….for 4 10kg dogs…some people are to scared to do anything outside of recommended instructions. Never had a dog that had fleas or any obvious signs of worms in 10+ years of doing this. It's not something they could overdose from and my Wife is was a Vet Nurse so i'm not worried at all about about it.
Each to their own…it your money and your dog.

      • Any one that says you can't do this because the active ingredients aren't guaranteed to be dispersed evenly across a tablet, is not considering that this then means there is no guarantee that the active ingredient in the larger batch mixing tank is evenly dispersed, meaning there is no guarantee that each whole tablet even contains the same quantity of active ingredient as any other tablet.

Petcircle can do the same thing with their 1st time auto delivery discount (also around $20)
So its roughly the same price delivered:
    https://www.petcircle.com.au/product/nexgard-spectra-large-d…

    • Might stock up from here as well after I check the expiry on the barn ones I just ordered, Cheers

    • Couldn't order through Petbarn. Some error with "Braintree" and "Cardinal". Also the site is as slow as molasses.
Ordered through Pet Circle. Thanks @Uzel

    • Sign up to Pet Circle and when you're thinking of purchasing, login add the item to your cart and wait. Over the past 2 days, they've sent me a $10 and now a $20 voucher for $49+ spend.

Makes these things a bit more reasonably priced.

    • 2 products from pet circle:

Aristopet allwormer (except heartworm), $3.30 per tablet, once every 3 months.
Valuheart heartworm tabs, $3 per tablet, once a month.

I've found those combo tablets that do everything to be hideously expensive by comparison. As another poster said, ticks aren't really an issue here unless you're taking your dog into the bush a lot and luckily my area is flea free, although i'd probably just treat that one where necessary.

    • Can confirm! Created a new account in my dogs name and setting up Auto delivery adds the coupon code AD301STTIME to get me $20 off. I qualify for free shipping , so total of $75 delivered - that's a good deal for a 6-pack of the 30-60kg chews.

Will cancel auto delivery once I've ordered

Might get someone else in the fam to do the same!

  • Thanks now cat please

  • Petbarn website is down?

  • Nexguard Spectra or Simparica Trio, what is OzB’s recommendation for a new dog owner? TIA.

  • +1

damnnnn i paid $92.44 3 weeks ago which was cheap when i looked

  • When you don't have animals, you see this thumbnail and you're like…'hmmmmm..maybe it's nappies for dogs!?!?!"

  • $10 delivery for me. No way around it.

  • Can't get the price for 30-60 kg below $90 but trying the same procedure with pet circle resulted in $80.70.

    • How did you get it for $80.70? New customer sign up? Comes up as $100.70 for me with auto delivery.

      • +1

Yep, new customer account does the trick

  • Website back up. Thanks OP!

  • Thanks, got it for $90 in the past

  • Thanks - purchased :)

  • OOS for click and collect. Can't get away from paying shipping fee.

  • Somehow I don't get the $20 off, despite not having used repeat delivery before.

NVM, used different email address. Weird though.

  • Thanks! Don’t forget shopback upsized 10% cashback

  • Just be aware that NexGard Spectra can cause seizures in dogs. Know 3 people plus myself this has happened to.

Currently have 5 left in a 6 pack I’m about to chuck out.

    • I'd love to not give my dog any worming tablets as you are effectively poisoning them and side effects can occur.
I'd also love to never take a vaccine for anything again.
Just need to weigh up the risk benefit and make your own decision you are comfortable with.
