this may sound crazy, but last night, for the first time, I bought a product off amazon - a book. Reason? Cheapest incl. its low delivery fee.

But with electronics like this, why would you buy these from overseas? You will need to buy an Australian power supply or adaptor. I would prefer to buy Australian stock so I can use the manufacturer's power supply.

Actually, looking up old ozbargain posts, it appears people simply buy the Australian cable to plug into the power supply http://www.powercablewarehouse.com.au/power-cable-2-pin-figu…

    Does everyone do this?

Yes, but you need to research this a bit online. The voltage is different (US/Japan/etc is 110v, Aus/China/UK/etc is 240v), not just the plug shape, so make sure the device supports both (if it's from the US).

Either that or buy a proper power transformer for your American or Japanese gadgets (about $40 on eBay).

Of course, if it charges with USB, no problem.

thanks for the info - I think I'll be paying more attention to amazon deals now :)

      Err…because it's cheaper?

      Nice rant BTW

  • Bought the soundsticks 2 around 3 years ago.. Still going strong and love them, however i believe thr controls could be better placed.. Example the button to turn off thr unit is behind the sub.. So what i do is press both the volume buttons to mute it instead if turning it off

Sound is great however we have a paie of a5+ and they are better but more expensive

In a recent JBHifi thread a couple guys mentioned that they got SoundSticks III below $180 without much bargaining.

There you go; my friend tried to match the price I got but they denied him. But you guys are free to try.

      • Also got denied, was told $229 was the best they can do.

I made the mistake of posting this before buying it myself, now I missed out :(

  • can't fault these. had them for years and they still sound great! paid $250. I remember when they were $600 and only available via USB for MAC

  • The listed in ozbargain is not the cheapest one…

  • I keen to buy the other speaker systems at Amazon but they don't ship to Australia. is there an easier way to know which Home Theater equipment can be shipped to Australia?

    • priceusa.com.au will ship anything from USA to Aus.

Never used them myself, but there's a thread on whirlpool and people seem pretty happy with their service.

  • so can anyone confirm that the power unit supplied is in fact 110v-240v. so all I need is to buy a AU power plug?

    • Someone did ask this question in the forums at the bottom of the page

"Can this be used in Australia?
Yes, the input voltage on the transformer states 100-240v. Enjoy the speakers….they sound amazing.
