Just so everyone knows if you get Flamin have a glass of milk next to you- IT IS HOT!!!!

  • +1

I see you're a bit smarter to ensure you can deliver the samples now.

I never received the samples promised when you first ran promotions like these.

    • +3

Agreed Tim, things have change allot over the past two and a half years.

These aren't samples though-Sample was a small 3-5 gram piece. This is a 25g pack of jerky we normally sell for $5

      Kind Regards,

      The Big Chief

      • Good work Big Chief!

  • darn, missed again … bring back the samplers!!

as a side note, maybe you could request a video upload of people eating the flamin (sure, most wont), but it could make for a good promotional video on your web page :)

  • +1

It is decent jerky. Does not have that strong preservative that most supermarket stuff have.

I lived on their jerky, lollies and fruit and nut bars for 2 and 1/2 days while hiking.

  • Damn, I wasn't quick enough. I still placed an order though! Why has the postage price (to WA) increased from $5 to $9.10 since my last order? Seems a bit steep when you can use Click and Send, $6.20 for a 500g satchel. (plus a small fee to buy the satchel).

    • +3

I saw your order Bonez-Extra will go in.

Satchels didnt work for us as the jerky bags exploded and people complained.

      • awesome, you're a champ!

    • +5

      you sound jerked off?

      • +2

        He's just Flamin

      • -1

hahah can you jerk off? nah jokes, i have nothing bad against this company. at least they give free stuff, i can't say anything

  • Nuuuuu im late, what's the cat gonna eat now?

    • +2

I will buy a packet of the flamin one for your cat, provided you upload a video of it eating 10g & it hasn't been mixed with anything less spicy.

You can keep the last 15g for yourself :)

  • Damnit come home just a little bit too late for once and i miss this…

  • If I was to order today, any idea of when it will be delivered by? I'm South East Brisbane suburbs :D thanks!

    • +2

If you order tomorrow and depending on what you order it should be dispatched that afternoon..

  • how 'dry' is this jerky to the likes of jack links ( which i think is horrible and very 'wet' soft not very chewy)

I quite like roadkill very hot and very 'dry' n chewy hahaha

where would Geronimo fit in?? allways been temped by your bargains just never wanted to take the risk.

are there any pictures of the physical product anywhere?

    • This is very dry compared to Jack Links. It's also the best jerky I've ever tasted and I used to buy these alot during my uni days.

    • Last few bags I've had, and not for a near now, but this is very dry. Quite chewy and almost 'flaky' or brittle at times. Other's packs may have been different.

And I've ordered 2 or 3 times, so I do like it.

  • +1

@GeronimoJerky wanna chuck us a 5-10% off code and i will order 50-80 bucks worth for halloween weekend camping trip :D

    • Missed out and just ordered your monthly special. My brother is with me atm and he wanted to try some as his interested and just saw this. I've put my details down and sent them to you, however its for my brother who lives at the same address. Is it possible to send both the free samples x 2 + my 200g Order?

Can't wait to try your jerky out, jack links isn't doing it for me :D

EDIT:I wanted to just specify that the 200g pack I ordered comes with a free 7 sample pack. So "x 2" is this sample plus the one that comes with my original order. Thanks.

      • +1

    Sent ;-)

  • I bought a heap of this o n a charity drive someone did at work and just found it really tough with some occasional nice chew bits. I still have a couple of packets I havent bothered eating

  • +1

To those thinking about making their own,

    1/2 Cup Worcestershire Sauce
    1/2 Cup Soy sauce
1/2 Cup Water with 1/2 tbl spoon salt
Pepper & Chilli(hot), mortar pestle em up
1 kg beef sliced, ~6mm think (electric knife works well)

*Cutting meat with the grain makes it very chewy, against the grain is crumbly, the best i found is at an angle, 20-30 degrees from the grain gives the best result i find.

Mix sauces/pepper/chilli together, marinade for 4hrs then into dehydrator for 7-8 hrs (Dry and chewy), less hrs in dehydrator if u like moist.

Initial outlay is slightly expensive, but when u make it every week its way cheaper than buying

    Dehydrator - $100 onwards
    Electric knife - $30 onwards

Making a batch ~800gm of jerky (2kg of meat)

    Topside - $18 for 2kg
    Sauces - $6 all up

    • +8

make sure the dehydrator is on 68-69 Celsius, any hotter and you will get casing which means you will cook the outside but be left with raw inside "Yuck".

  • Guys……. They have stubby holders.

all they need start doing is sell Coopers reds, it would be a One Stop Shop :)

I quite like you REP, there are many out there who could learn from your attitude and approach.

Agreed, this thread was handled with pure class.

        Actually greatly appreciated…

        Thanks Shaw and Ambiguous

      • I agree. Gonna buy some in a few weeks time…looking forward to my free taster.

  • just made order, Looks like my new home of jerky fellas :)

    1+ awesome rep

You have pretty much bought advertising (for the cost of mailing 50 small packs of Jerky) to tens of thousands of people.

There was someone doing the same trick with Tea Bags about 4 months ago. It's cheaper than sending out leaflets/buying add space, and you make it interactive by giving yourself the spotlight on your customer service and liaising with potential customers publicly.

Call my a cynical prick (which I am sure will be done), but it's really blurring the lines between a genuine deal and cost affective advertising.

Edit: Also, it worked very well.

    • +1

You are a cynical prick ;)

    • +3

      Hello Modokun,

It wasn't actually my intention to advertise this-All I was doing is giving away jerky to the people that have supported us for over three years.

Everyone knows who we are and we have made many great deals along with a few mistakes too-I have been posting deals since 17/09/2009 with 35 posts/bargain offers over that period.

I wont call you a cynical prick and I wont call this a Deal.
It is simply a giveaway to fellow ozbargainers- that is all!

      The Big Chief

      • -2

you either dont understand what constitutes "advertising" or you do and your just full of it. what do you call the opportunity to show your product, and get your brand name out there, to a captive audience of thousands? you can not buy advertising on tv like you get for free on here. and to give away a token amount that you know will be gone in minutes? what a crock. you obviously understand viral marketing better than ive seen some companies fail on here.

i buy jerky, usually from my local butcher who make it themselves. i can guarantee you that i wont be buying any "Geronimo Jerky" any time soon.

tl;dr dudes ripping off ozbargan and people shouldnt buy this brand

        • Poor attitude, man.

        • +1

          Damn!!! :-(
          you got me

You talk of free advertising on here??
SO it doesn't cost me to give away product, packaging, freight and staff labour ?
I am afraid you are fooling only yourself-$600 worth of product, packaging, freight and staff labour.

I wont bother responding to any more negative feedback as it uncalled for and not worth my time.

      • +1

        I'm still a bit cynical.

If you wanted to give away jerky to the people that have supported you for three years, you would have all that customer data at hand and could correlate it with the sales history.

Instead you chose to do it on a bargain website, and people who have never bought your product were eligible to 'cash in'.

Clever marketing, but is it in the spirit of what this forum is about? The people have voted yes, but personally I am not so sure.

        • Agreed Modokun,

I was more giving back to Ozbargain as a group because our database can not distinguish this.

But appreciate your opinion-you seem pretty level headed.

          Take care,

          Mark

    • Tinfoil hatter.

  • +1

i know it's all too late but I love the Geronimo jerky - great product - Brizzie based - and nice squaws…

  • Awww missed out….

  • WTF only 50 free samples??? There's over 2000 people online on ozbargain at any given time. Fail. I knew red indians were a dying breed.

  • Got mine today :D Thanks!

    • What did you get?

      Flamin or Blazin?

      • Um not sure its at home i forgot. I was at the Gaythorne RSL yesterday i bought buckshot 40g, something else in 40g (forget which flavour), than a 200g of pow wow on my way out.

Pow wow is the worst flavour of jerky you make by far! I know it said for kids on the packet but it just tastes like to i'm chewing on flour. I decided to share it with the family i dislike it that much.

However Buckshot is a truly amazing flavour. I wish i had bought that on my way out instead of pow wow haha. Also the hotter jerkys and originals which i have also tried are good, but buckshot will always be my number one choice from now on. Is there any other flavours you do with the same moisture and thickness of the buckshot? All the other ones seem dried out more or maybe its my imagination.

Powow = Major Fail. (Buy it for your mother in law.)
Buckshot = Amazing (highly reccommend people purchasing this one if they are unsure)
Other flavours i've tried = Very good.

  • Good on you for trying Big Chief. but $3 is about what i'd pay for 25grams. and $6 for 50grams retail. Might try it once eventually but your product is expensive.

  • Mine arrived today too. Thx for the super prompt delivery :)

A bit too spicy for me though (got flaming)…my gums are still burning.. :(

  • +2

Next time we will have to do the Powwow (Teriyaki) and our Buckshot (cracked pepper).

    take care

    • Cheers, looking forward to missing out on it.

Or be able to snatch one.

  • Received mine today. I got the Blazin flavour.

    Thanks heaps!

  • Looks like Monday for me ;_;

  • Got my 2 x 200g bags + samples delivered this morning. Seriously impressed with the delivery time and how yummy this stuff is. Pretty much the best jerky I've ever tasted. Will be back for sure!

    • Thank you for that :-) Have a great weekend

      • I will now! Have also just realised that my comment quoted your slogan "The best beef jerky you've ever tasted" nearly verbatim haha. I think I will be making use of the 200g special and putting in another order tonight when I get home!

  • Hopefully get mine on Monday.

  • Hi Rep: For the $20 monthly special, does the website send out a 200g random flavour?

    • It says, please make note of what flavour you would like. I placed an order and found that I could only tell them in the Customer note section in checkout. I hope that's the place you're supposed to leave it.

  • Got mine today, thanks. Received the 'Flaming Arrow' and i will never doubt what is written on your labels ever again. It was CRAZY hot and despite my love of hot food this was something else. Spent about 20 mins washing my mouth out with water and drinking milk. WOW!

What i will say for the brief 20-30 seconds when it was bearable I really enjoyed the flavour and texture lol… and this might sound crazy to some but I am interested in ordering some more, just less hot. Im not a jerky expert, far from it, but prefer this texture as opposed to the jack links brand that is to me anyway bit too chewy and taste somewhat 'rare' if that makes sense.

    • I have a very tolerable mouth for hot food and I ordered Flaming arrow also. I'm looking forward to seeing how hot it really is as a lot of things these days say "HOT" but really isn't at all. Still waiting for mine to come in post =/

      • post back when you get yours, just make sure you have some milk in the fridge

        • Yeah, its hot but not as hot as I was expecting. Its awesome Jerky though, I can get the nice flavour just before the heat hits your mouth. Will be buying more in the future for sure. Also, didn't expect 200g to be so much :D

  • haha, probably im just a weakling. Im going to order some of the milder options, because it actually tastes good. I have been picking on the sample jerkey all day in TINY portions at a time

    • The flavour gets better over time I'm finding, leaves a nice smoky after taste. Yeah, might order a more mild flavour and thanks to the samples, I can work out what I like. Thanks REP!

      • Too hot for me, but thanks Geronimo for the free sample!

  • +2

Geronimo, why you so expensive? :(

Even the monthly special is still $29 ($20+$9 postage) for 200g's….. (That's $1/6g…)

  • Never got my sample…. Meh
