lol this is such a scam

Works a treat on the idiots, though

    • +1

      Agreed.

If you want to lose weight.

Eat properly, Cut out sugar and do intermittent fasting.

Combine with exercise and sleeping properly.

      • +6

That's misleading, if you want to lose weight, you consume less calories than you expend. Intermittent fasting and cutting sugar won't achieve that goal.

        • +1

          I disagree.

I've been doing it for many years when i want to cut from bulking and sugar and intermittent fasting helps me cut down fat / weight easily.

If you force your body not to rely on sugar as an energy source it will start breaking down the body fat and convert it as a source of energy.

If you consume high levels of sugar it will rely on that every time or Carbs if you consume a lot of that too.

Pretty obvious sugar is one of the major course of weight gain as it causes diabetes and heart diseases.

Yes there could be other factors like pre existing health issues, stress, etc. but i have seen the benefits of cutting it out and other people doing it and losing significant amounts of weight.

If you really want to lose weight fast and eats lots of food, the Keto diet is a very good one however it is not very easy to maintain and really hard to begin with. I did it once to help my mother with cancer and dropped from 90kgs to 70 within 2-3 months while eating a tonne of food

@SpeedRunnerLink: Much easier to just pretend your body is a closed system that you can apply physics/maths to rather than realise it's a biological system where straight numbers don't actually work over the longer term.

          • -3

@SpeedRunnerLink: Your statement is not the general rule though.

Intermittent fasting if not followed properly will not lose you weight, in fact might even do the opposite if the mindset is to eat "whatever you want" during the feeding period.

Not everyone weight gain is due to sugar intake either so it is circumstantial. It's pretty common but is not everyone.

Calorie in Calorie out (CICO) is ultimately the thermodynamic science that results in someone to lose weight. Intermittent fasting, keto and all other type of diets is just to help you reach this CICO.

@John: That's only true if your goal is to lose weight in general, rather than just lose fat.

Because your body is more than happy to cannibilize excess muscle in order to make up for a protein or nutrient deficiency, and as a survival bonus that makes your fat stores last longer too.

These diets and VLCD shakes just swap out carbs with protein, so you can keep most of your muscle while still eating at a deficit.

              • @Jolakot: I was replying to weight loss comment… wasn't I?

                • +1

@John: If someone just wants to lose weight not fat, then they should hang out in a sauna for 6 hours, works a treat.

  • +11

the "secret" to weight loss is eating less calories and doing more physical exercise, that's it. You can even eat maccas and kfc exclusively as long as you're tracking your calories and eating at a deficit

    • As long as you don't expect to be able to do it long term, sure

      • +5

I mean you can do it long term too. Will you be “healthy”? Probably not. But can you keep losing weight or maintaining? Sure.

i take these on a bulk to help me gain weight - great product

Best way for a weight loss is to stay away from ozbargain

100% gained xx kilos because of this website

I've used shakes twice in the past. They work well if you stick to 1 shake and 1 meal a day. Exercise helps too. Yes there is other ways but this is quite convenient and once you get used to it, there really isn't much hunger.

Lost 15 to 20kg when they were used.

Overall I find there way too sweet compared to rapid loss

    • +6

Sounds like the shake isn't doing the trick.. its ur fasting n exercise doing the magic.

      • Completely agree. It just helps get me through the day and the chocolate flavour is actually delicious (from rapid loss that is) so it feels like a treat, even with almond milk.
The shake helps shed some kilos but you definitely plateau after a while

      • I probably wouldn't put it that bluntly. I've heard some of these products help to keep people satiated, it's clearly helped the person with their weight loss too

  • +1

Buy actual protein powder and take a multi-vitamin tablet and you'll get all the benefits of this at a fraction of the cost.

…Most people should be able to skip the multi-vitamin with a decent diet.

    • Protein powder is cheaper? Do you have a recommendation?

      • +1

I've moved to Amino Z, which usually advertise a crazy good deal every 3 months.

You just missed their black friday sale but may be worth buy a little now and wait for their next sale.

Also keep in mind when you buy, to look at the protein to calorie ratio. Something with high calories and cheap is pointless but also very low protein content usually means youre just paying for expensive vitamin water./electrolytes.

        • Thank you.

A GP once told me that weight loss can be summarised in four words: eat less, move more.

    • Was that Dr Rudi?

    • And they get how many hours of nutritional training in their time at uni?

    • +2

My GP said the same thing, and yet he is overweight. It is that simple, but at the same time is not that simple.

  • +1

Thought it was Biscoff. So disappoint.

All these "HuRr dURR oNlY IDiOts WoULD BUy thiS" are completely missing the point of the product. Its designed for a very low calorie diet sub 1000 calorie and at that level of deficit your going to have a very hard time getting all the nutrients and minerals you need. These are designed by dieticians to provide a reasonably safe way for people who need to lose a lot of weight.

    • +2

Yup, it's not for everyone and it's not long term, but it'll help kick-start things for some people and once the ball starts rolling then it makes it easier to transition to a more sustainable diet. I dropped about 28kg on shakes 17 years ago and I've not gotten anywhere near my heaviest weight ever since.

I have a shake every morning - Use iced water/crushed Ice, throw in 1/2 banana, and a small scoop of frozen blueberries, and blend.

I find it an easy way to have a quick breakfast on the go, kids drop off, WFH etc.

The best I've had so far is the Isogenix (Isagenix Isalean Protein Shake Creamy Dutch Chocolate), but far too exe.

The Sam Wood Chocolate flav one is ok as well, but they stopped selling it from the website a while ago.

This one is fine (FatBlaster), and tastes similar to the above. Picked up 2 recently at WW for @ $9ea on clearance

  • Anyone know how long these last in the pantry sealed and how long after opening?

    • +1

I have 2 containers atm and both have UBD of July 2028

Not sure about once opened, as I would use a container within a month of opening.

      • Thank you.
