[PC] Bulk Image Downloader 50% off: US$19.95 (~A$30)

It's a good (though not perfect) program for ripping images from a web page (including full images that are linked to through thumbnails), and it can also grab from forums sites with multiple pages. The author gave me a free key in exchange for a review 15 years or so ago, and I can still use it to activate the latest version.

There is a gimped free version which is sufficient for people with modest needs (under 100 images from a site) and if you don't mind nags and annoyances.

      I'm not the friend.

But I also have that friend.

      • I think we all have one of 'these' friends. Mine was with me all thru uni…that's how we collected gigabytes (back then the resolution weren't as high) of good stuff and had a 'great time' while at it.

    • I am the friend*

*legal disclaimer - this is a joke

      • I'm friendly

      • You gotta stop visiting me when the lights go out mate.

    • If it can generate auth keys for each individual image/video you want, sure. But it can't so it won't.

thanks for the post OP but you'd be insane to pay money for this tbh

Reminds me of the getright days. Download this, download that :/ but no one ever paid for the software - trials n all

    • I remember using GetRight too. Windows XP days. I'm not sure what people are using instead. JDownloader 2 has already been mentioned (I'm actually running it now, grabbing a cached torrent from All-DDebrid); Free Download Manager and Internet Download Manager I sometimes see mentioned on the internet.

One thing BID can't do is rip images split into multiple sections. You need Dezoomify to do that.

Wow it's almost like this isn't just a blatant moneygrab when there's tons of freeware and shareware that does exactly this.

    • Which free programs or browser extensions have all of the functionality of BID? DownloadThemAll for Firefox, for instance, can do some of what BID can do, but not everything.

  • wget on Linux and windoze, can download entire sites

BID is more for when you want to download just a selection of images, or just one thread on a site with many threads, rather than mirroring an entire site. Also many forums have their images hosted on other sites; I'm not sure how Wget handles this. An example might be, all images from the 1242 pages of the following thread: https://forums.thefashionspot.com/threads/daria-werbowy.3304… . As opposed to trying to rip everything off thefashionspot, which is a huge community site. Manually downloading images (or zips, or mp3s, or fonts) one by one is incredibly unfun.

Also, BID provides thumbnails for all the images it has uncovered, so you can grab just the ones that appeal to you. Generalized site ripeprs lik WGet, Httrack and Offline Explorer don't have that functionality. Multiple tools can be used for a particular job, but for any particular task some are better than others. That';s why I have a lot of software installed on my computer, some I use regularly, some only once a year.

  • The effort of bundling up freeware is paying off for some
