  • What is the point of having dual probes with this?

You can't put the device in the oven or bbq…

    • +4

The flip out probe is for instant readings, and the external probe is on a wire that can be placed in oven/bbq/smoker

      • Wouldn't you be better off getting a wireless probe?

        • No. wired probe is standard. Logic would dictate you don't put the unit itself inside. Wireless is needless wank.

          • @And0r:

            Wireless is needless wank.

As is being restricted by a short cable.

          • @And0r: I need wireless for my rotisserie

        • Wireless is more expensive, and more expensive to replace if you overtemp. I'd prefer a wired one i can replace cheaply, but each to their own.

          • @Kill Joy: I have a wireless one and I love it.
But on top of it being more expensive and trouble with pairing. Many people also find wired better as metal bbqs and airfryers act like a faradays cage sometimes and severely drop the reach of the bluetooth, making the wired one just more straight forward.
Its also thinner, as some people complain their meat looks like its been shot with how fat the wireless ones are.

            • @trustnoone: I will probably get a wireless one myself at some point - was just explaning to JV why some might opt for a wired on. Waiting for combustion inc to release something with higher heat tolerance.

              • @Kill Joy: Oops I think my reply was meant to be to JV, as was doing the same.

    • Use your imagination

      • +1

        Food Safety laws say no.
