      • Hey, did they send you replacement unit or refund?

    • How do know if they’ve already been activated? It’ll just tell you when you first pair them?

      • Once you pair the item you’ll see warranty expiry date. My box came with broken seal so I check the date right away. Apple tech supports had confirmed it was 2nd hand. I’m waiting for eBay to step in this could take upto a week while waiting for techciti to reply.

        • So looks like these are a batch of seconds/returns being sold as new?

          • @get-innocuous: Just got off the phone with Apple tech support a 2nd time today and they had confirmed that the airpod pro was first turn on in December. I’m sending it back to eBay today for full refund.

    • I checked mine and initially saw that the warranty was til Dec 2024 as well - though my box was still sealed.

Went to check the serial number here using this tool - https://checkcoverage.apple.com/

It initially came up as an error but allowed me to enter the purchased receipt date and now it’s limited warrantied to 05/05/2025, so hopefully it’ll work for you too.

      • Tech support said they willing to change the date to my purchased date, but they also confirmed that the airpod was first turn on in December 2023, its a used not brand new item. Unfortunately

  • Arrived today

  • Order hasn't shipped out

  • Not shipped yet. Kinda worried about the condition/activation issue in the comments.

    • Mine was like that then it sorted its self out to the correct date

  • Waiting on shipment here as well :(. Hoping there is no issue.

    • I'm sure they have like a few thousand orders to process, so give them some time. Some of mine arrived yesterday but some are only shipping now.

    • Update, Arrived and work well.

  • Got mine yesterday - just checked warranty date after reading comments. Warranty expires in December :/

What's the general consensus here - update the warranty to May or refund?

  • I haven't opened it yet but I checked the serial number on https://checkcoverage.apple.com/coverage and it says

"We're sorry, but we're currently unable to validate your AirPods purchase date
Please make sure your AirPods are paired with your iPhone or iPad. Then please sign in with your Apple ID and update the date of purchase from your receipt."

Does this mean it's new or is it not possible to tell unless I open it and pair it?

    • +1

Correct, that means that it is completely unregistered. When you connect it to your iPhone, the date should update automatically.

      • amazing, thank you

      • hmmm, I just checked for my own set of APP2 Type-C which I use for my android but it says the same message…

        • +2

You can update with Apple online via the warranty page or via support and they can update it for you with your invoice :)

  • Still not shipped. Not sure if this is a trustworthy seller as I could understand shipping a day late but still no communication from them for a Friday order doesn’t seem to inspire a lot of confidence.

    • yeah, mines still not shipped too and given multiple people saying they got used stuff all seems kinda sketchy.
Would expect ebay to vet this kinda thing being it was one of their headlining things with the ebay plus weekend.

      • Hmmm just got confirmation that shipment information has been received by Auspost.

        • +1

Just needed a bit of patience. It's a lot of work packing and shipping 400 Airpods on-top of all the other orders Mobileciti have to deal with.

  • My order just shipped with tracking number.
Using wife's airpods 2 since 2 years after she upgraded to gen 1 pro. Now she will get this one and I get gen 1 to use 😔
Can't wait to use gen 1 pro soon

  • Order arrived, had the "We're sorry, but we're currently unable to validate your AirPods purchase date" prompt which is good.

    • does that mean they're new? my seal looks a bit weird, but I'm getting the same message when checking service coverage. This is a Mother's Day present, and don't want to give something used.

  • Mine just arrived. It smells of really strong disinfectant once you open the box and the charging cord is a woven material. Is the charging cord being a woven material now normal for apple?

    • The charging cord is woven yes, thats standard issue - my box smelt just normal, sounds a bit iffy for yours

  • Just received my order (ordered 10.30 last Friday) - warranty expires 24May25 so i think it's all good?

    • If you havent opened the box/turned them on - then you shouldnt see anything as its not registered.

      • yes i checked via the link provided above and it shows "We're sorry, but we're currently unable to validate your AirPods purchase date". So i paired to my phone and check the warranty date, which shows May25.

It might take a few days for it to register on the warranty website, if it was already registered it would be a point of concern.

          • @AircraftFreight: No it wasn't. I just register it on the warranty website and the warranty date changed from 24May25 to 2May25 after i update the purchase date. Not sure where does that 24May25 come from in the beginning but sounds okay to me.

            • @Ooooooollie: It took an hour for my information to pop through on Apples warranty website. With the 31 day grace period for new products to have Apple Care+ added.
              https://imgur.com/a/7DRPSMq

Limited warranty Expires: 24 May 2025 probably refers to the 1 year limited warranty if per se the item fails. But thats odd that it changed.

              • +1

@AircraftFreight: If going down the Applecare route, do not update the purchase date on the Apple website. Just purchase Apple Care and you should get coverage until 24-May-2026. If you update the purchase date like me, it will fall back to 2-May-2026.

    • @Ooooooollie was this before you pair with your phone?

  • Same as mine

  • My limited warranty expires on 20/12/2024, does that mean they are refurbs? Seek refund through eBay?

    • Yes, the limited warranty should be 13 months give or take, do you have a prompt for Apple Care+

  • Received mine and package seems legit and not opened before. Checked serial number with apple website and says warranty until 24-May-2025. Can warranty date be like this even before activating ? Or have they already activated?

  • +1

    Started a return, very disappointing

  • To the people with December 2024 limited warranty: are you going through the ebay return process? Or are you happy with Apple refurbs after paying for a brand new item?

    • +2

Guys, the warranty is showing December 2024 because that’s the date it was supplied, it’s not just Mobileciti but happens with many retailers as well. Myself and others have commented multiple times above on how to fix the warranty date to the date of purchase with either Apple support or online via warranty page.

These are not Apple refurbs, they are literally brand new items sourced from a main Australian distributor of Apple products.

used to work at apple so maybe I can shed some light on this. This is common with many retailers, a lot of times they report serials to apple when supply is constrained so that it looks like products are flying off the shelves at their stores and they need a restock. So they report the serials as sold and place another order with apple, and try to build channel inventory that way.

Call AppleCare, not apple store or applesales. Call AppleCare, explain that you just got them and send them a copy of the receipt, with the proof of purchase showing the date you actually got them they can change the warranty to reflect that.

    • You read the wrong part. This comment and the reply is the correct answer. I'm honestly surprised at how many people don't understand how warranties work.

When you're a store and you buy from a supplier they'll set the warranty to be the date you ordered or were supplied. I get this with every single HP, HPE and Dell product I order. For the end user their warranty is set to the day they ordered and for any claims I provide the vendor with my invoice date.

Obviously the difference here is that most people go to Apple direct (manufacturer) instead of the retailer where they purchased. Thus they need to provide the invoice to Apple themselves to have the correct date.

  • Received today, box sealed, minor dent box.

Brand new airpods lying inside, and not registered before. Afte pairing with my iPhone, warranty expiration date came through.

So far 100% happy with that.

    • update: The box package says it's for Apple Malaysia.

      • Same here the box says Apple Malaysia and Assembled in Vietnam

      • All Australian stock says that. Try buying from OW, JbHiFi etc, same thing.
