I'm surprised Super Mario Land wasn't already in there.

Nintendo are experts at drip feeding their fanboys.

  • What about Super Mario Land 2?

    • From memory it's already in there and has been for ages.

      • 2 comes before 1. Nintendo logic.

      • +1

There's been no logic to what they've offered via their emulators. It's 50% nostalgically fun games that are good for 6-11 minutes of 'heh. I member dis' mixed with 50% completely worthless and unplayable cruft.

  • Reminder that iPhones can now easily run Gameboy, SNES, N64 and DS games now without a stupid subscription https://apps.apple.com/app/id1048524688

and Android has for years. Then there’s all the retro handhelds posted here.

    • MeBoy or whatever it was called was fantastic on iPhone and has been around forever with no jailbreak needed.

Googled, this is the one I'm talking about. Used to have it on my old iPhone 5 yeeeeears back. Love it. https://gameplaycolor.com/

      • The web based ones were cool but give Delta a go, it will blow you away.

Heard good things, but haven't had an iPhone in years. Last time I took games seriously on a phone was the Nexus 5, interest for me died really about when my Xperia Play did. RIP

          What I wouldn't give for an XP2

Is this really a deal? I don't think we get a post every time xbox, playstation, netflix etc etc adds a new title to their subscription service.. Happy to be told otherwise but I don't really see the deal here, especially when these titles can be had for free with a bit of effort.

    • +2

The annoying part is people do post deals for all those. You can hide them but.

The absolute worse is “XYZ is on <some free to air TV channel>” as a deal.

I haven't been around for that long but I could've sworn these sort of posts don't really count. At bare minimum if they are allowed it should have a tag that says subscription service required. But realistically it feels like it goes against the idea of a deal, it requires you to pay (presumably) full priced subscription to access this.

        • The SUBS in the title is the tag

        • Report it and let the mods deal with it.

          • @beefsandwich: I am not reporting something I am not 100% confident isn't allowed though, hence opening the discussion rather than just reporting it.

I'm really fed up with people posting new additions to the Nintendo Switch Online service. Its not a bloody deal. If we care, we have the news already all over the Switch News, Online feature, YouTube etc..

Is it worth posting every D-grade garbage that gets put up on Netflix for example? Get it?

With how easy emulation is on phones and all the cheap retro hand helds these days, these Nintendo online "freebies" make less and less sense.

Nintendo need to be on the ball next gen as I feel they have been taking advantage of all their fans the last couple of gens.. Not sure how much longer this goodwill will last.

But then Nintendo fans are easily pleased.

    • The premise that you deserve free games because you can obtain them for free illegally is simply incorrect.

      • +1

The premise that Nintendo should make you pay for the same games over and over again on multiple systems dating back to the 80s is ethical just because it’s legal is simply incorrect.

MS allow you to play your OG Xbox disks in a Series console two decade later.

Meanwhile if you brought a N64/GBA/etc. game on the Wii U Virtual Console, Nintendo now expects you to pay a monthly subscription to play the same game on the Switch.

        (profanity) Nintendo.

      • How about they fix joy con drift from 2017 first

  • Imagine Nintendo introducing some sort of a trophy system - akin to PlayStation ‘Platinum trophy’ system - integrated into their next switch successor at an OS level…

…It would be so much more enjoyable and time worthy to ‘Platinum’ their games - including some NSO retro favourites like Super Mario Land…

…their more recent games would also benefit from added value - as it would incentivise/ make it more tolerable to collect all the ‘deku shits seeds’ in BotW & TotK (and collecting all ‘moons’ in Mario Odyssey.)

    • +2

Imagine Nintendo putting effort into their eco system.

      • I mean that's almost entirely the reason Nintendo still exists - the walled garden. If they allowed external systems play Nintendo made games their entire console division would die imo
