Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G Not Compatible with ALDI Mobile Soon?

Hi,

My Dad recently got a text message stating that a device of his soon would not be compatible any longer with the impending 3G shutdown and to message 3498 with "3G" on each device to see which device was incompatible.

It turns out that it is his reasonably new mobile phone that they are saying is incompatible, following the instructions above returned "This phone wont connect to the Mobile Network after 31st of August 2024".

I just cant understand why, is this a mistake on Aldi's end or will my dad need to get a new phone?

According to this website his mobile phone supports all of the 3G/4G/5G bands that Aldi uses.

Can anyone confirm for me if I need to search for a new phone for him?

    On his phone, on the top right, do you see an icon that says VoLTE?

    If NOT, open your phone app and dial ##86583##

    And then reboot phone to see if icon comes up, if the icon comes up, it should be all good for the 3G shutdown

    If VoLTE already shows up, it should be all good

      I have a Redmi that I managed to turn on VoLTE using the code above. Unfortunately, it will only receive and make calls randomly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

      I have another Xiaomi (lite 11 5g NE) , it wasn't working with Vodafone since they switched off 3G, then it suddnely starting to work with VoLTE and VoWiFi a few months later.

      My conclusion is, your outcome with varies even if you switch on VoLTE manually,

    my one of these wouldnt work with VoLTE unless I manually force-enabled it
