Got one on kmart's cheapest deal :-)

They work pretty well, and 2 cheap solar panels make the battery life infinite

    • UNLIMITED POWERRRRR

    • Yeah, never had to charge it since.

    • I got these from Kmart too but I am having issues with being able to see recorded videos from my phone. Did you have any issues ?

      • None, just reinstall or change video settings to auto. You might not have a strong internet connection.

    • Where did you get the Solar panel from?

      • +1

        Temu…
I know it's not ideal and plays a lot of trickes about coupons, but I did get 2 solar panels with less than $30 and they worked well for 5 months already :-)

  • How do you hook up the solar panels to the cameras?

    • +1

Micro usb charging port on the back.
      Panels from temu/fbm $10ea.

  • I bought this one through the Kmart deal. Had to return this as I couldn't make the hub to work. Kept blinking red n green.

There is something fishy about this "deal". It's been $179 for a while now at Centrecom with all stores having stock then, suddenly, 50mins after landing on OzB on a Sunday night, it's sold out in 8 VIC stores? This is the C400S2 1080p model, not the C420S2 2K model most local places are selling. The 3 deal upvotes suggest it's not that popular a deal to miraculously sell out.

    • Local to what? I though an Aussie online deal was local enough. This model is the old model and doesn't require certain subscriptions. Not sure why it sold out so quickly online, it's still available in store. Centre Com divide their stock into store and online as you know. Still smell fish?

      • +1

I'm not having a go at you or your deal. I'm just suggesting there is something fishy on Centrecom's end. It's not plausible an old model, that's in stock at 8 VIC stores, sells out in under an hour.

This ain't a $179 ipad which would sell out fast. It's an old camera system that's been cheaper prior. I'm suggesting they never had the stock they claimed. Something just doesn't add up.

  • Latest pricing I can find for Tapo Care cloud storage:

    Basic 1pcs/year. $ 39.99
    Basic 5pcs/year $144.99
    For 7 day storage

Bit more for 30 day storage

  • Looking for my first security cam and will search the reviews for this one later but has anyone used these before and your thoughts?

    Complete newbie.

    • This model in particular is soo good for the price. Eufy can hary compete.

      • +1

I've got both … the only point this wins on is price (especially @ $99). This feels like a toy compared to the image quality and functionality of eufy though.

Dubious as to the longevity of the little plastic hub, locked into the Tapo app for camera access.

Otherwise it works as advertised and makes a great pet monitor.

        • Picture quality at 1080p is the same as Eufy. Eufy cams are build more substantial, probably weight added or bigger battery. I have the Eufy with 365 battery life and they feel at least twice as heavy as the Tapos. Tapos have a wider viewing angle, you just see more.

    • Bought it during the Kmart promo. Used it to monitor all external entrances (garage, side door and main entrance). Haven't needed to recharge battery since installation in December. Battery capacity at around 50% with daily detection trigger. Resolution is good enough for me. Got a memory card to store the recordings. Overall satisfied with purchase so far.
