Logitech MX Ergo Advanced Wireless Trackball Mouse | Black - $74.95 Delivered @ Need1 (Price Beat $71.20 @Officeworks)

530

This deal seems to still be going/going again. Also available on their Ebay store if that works better for you. JB wouldn't price match for me, but Officeworks beat it. I got it for $71.20 for pickup.

    Same price on mydeal https://www.mydeal.com.au/logitech-mx-ergo-advanced-wireless…
How you guys rate it? Cheers

Using one at the moment. Just love it.
I started using trackball some 8 years ago, just takes a day to get used to it.
It would be great if Logitech made the scroll wheel in metal like in the MX master 3S

The 1 1-star review on MyDeal is funny :P

I own and daily-drive both the MX Ergo and M575 (and M570 before that) because of my "strong hand", up to 5 trackballs now since 2015. I like both but much prefer the M575.
      - The rubber on the MX Ergo has started to perish after a couple of years. It's got that manky bubbling look and needs to visit the pox doctor. Plastic M575 has no worries.
      - The ball eject hole on the MX Ergo is too small to fit a pinky into, so I have to poke it with the back of a pen or pencil. Far too slow and fiddly for gaming quick-cleans.
      - The tilt adjust is nice but I leave it up.
      - AA battery lasts much longer on the M575 I find, have to replace it far less than I have to recharge the MX ergo.
      - "blue ball" jokes are easier with the M575.

      • +1 on the rubber going funky, I think mine got some sun on it through the window…

        • +1

It's not the sun; I don't open my curtains :>

Longtime M570 user, and now on my 2nd MX Ergo. Once you use a trackball, you won't want to use a mouse again. Thanks @Korda for the info on M575. I like the dual position option with the MX. The Micro USB charging is annoying, much prefer to pop in a rechargeable battery. I agree re the rubber perishing. The middle click switch on my older MX is dying after about 4 years - a common issue with all mice/trackballs. I will look at M575 next time. Cheers

What is it about a trackball that you like over a mouse? I haven't used one, and so can't get over feeling it would be to hard to position accurately.

    • +1

Echo the thoughts of others - highly recommend this. Am onto my 2nd MX Ergo. Seemed like a battery failure on the first one.

  • +2

Very good if you value your wrist get this. Some will have pain on the thumb instead but some are not. For me vertical is better but i tried this ball first.

    • +1

I was starting to get a lot of wrist pain, this fixed it entirely. MX Ergo is a lot better than the old logitech ones too, I went through one every couple of years before, current one is doing great.

    • +1

There's a wedge model you can get on thingiverse, print it out it puts the MX Ergo in full vertical orientation. It sits between the mouse and the plate, has its own built in magnets. I couldn't use the MX Ergo without it. I've been using mine for 2 years, but now starting to get the thumb pain, so I think I'll regularly switch between mouse and trackball.

    • +2

This is who I bought it from a couple of weeks ago with my $5 coupon, arrived quickly, but the m575 is an older model, unlike the deal posted.

    • +1

That's a different mouse. The one in this post is the MX Ergo. The one you linked is the m575. Yours doesn't have the rechargeable battery and its a bit cheaper feeling.

      • Whupsy sorry. I had older model of 575, then this 575 and advanced, and then sold the two m575.
        But now using lift.

  • +1

    It is really good

    Great price, highly recommend

I can't believe they are still continuing to sell these mice with micro USB (and not USB type C).
Would have loved this but cant get myself to buy a new device with older USB :/

    • +2

Same here, at least we saved $75

  • +5

I've heard in the medium-term (say 2-3 years) the soft plastic peels and flakes off. A few people I know of into trackballs are moving off the mx ergo to the kensington tb550 (bit pricier than this, but have seen it drop on Amazon before)

    • +1

Can confirm, my rubber looks disgusting but the mouse is still good.

  • +1

This is my daily driver at work. Always good to have a spare, thanks for the deal!

  • Is this better than G502? I found G502 variants are more comfy than Mx Master 3S for bigger hands.

    • +1

I haven't used the G502, but this is an entirely different product. I've been using the MX Ergo for a few years now after replacing my M575. I have large hands and find it comfortable. It's not a wired gaming mouse. It is a wireless trackball, so whether it's better will be subjective for preference and use case.

      • +1

Bought one, I will have a try. Cheers

  • +3

It's good. I've also got this cheap one which is 90% as good https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005935808665.html

If you have sweaty hands, I’d recommend not purchasing these mice with rubberised coatings. I’ve found they straight up don’t last more than 3 years if you use them heavily (ie daily work) before starting to liquify.

  • -1

My dad tried it, barely lasted a week before switching over to an MX master. If you need precision on a 50" 4k monitor then it isn't the right choice imo

    • Your thumb learns precision over time, and you can tweak the mouse speed and acceleration in the OS settings. At work I use this mouse with two 31" 4K displays, I have plenty of precision. There are professionals with greater precision requirements than I, who use these and swear by them.

The only thing these trackball mice are not good for is first-person-shooter gaming.

      • Disagree, I play doom on my trackballs all the time.
        360noscope yewww

This or MX Master 3S? does this one support the new AI prompter?

  • +2

I'm still using Ergo from 2018. Rubber is reasonable condition. Non sweaty palm.

Logitech really need to make a USB-C version of this.

  • Wifey had all sorts of wrist pain 3-4 years ago when her work provided her with this, she has not looked back since then.

  • Anyone seen a deal on the mx vertical?

  • Is anybody sure, if officeworks matches price ?

    • They did for me. Why not give it a go yourself?

  • Been to one store. They said no. SKU number is different itseems.
Other 2 stores ran out of stock

  • +1

    Thank you. Will try again.

  • Officeworks will not honor it as the competitor is on the liquidation list. Just been told over the phone after they grabbed all my details like address and email address

  • @SyNthetic. I did get this from officeworks under PBG. May be try again. Couple of sites got it for $74.94 mydeal, dicksmith, kogan.

@Soapdroid thank you for the tip
