Official confirmation is in. The Flip 4 deal is available and extended up until the 20th of October.

Max cancellation fee is $828.

Plan comes with 80GB of data and guaranteed 5G access. The $49 doesn't advertise 5G, but people have been able to utilise that network where available.

While the plan does appear in the link, the phone offer is not publicly advertised on their website - to obtain, head in-store and ask for it. They will happily do it for you.

CIS - Critical Information Summary

A bit of a yikes with Optus in light of recent news, and to only couple it with a world famous highly reputable, welfare payment extorting retail store is a cherry on top.

Is it a bit of a weird flex to poop on your own posted deal?

I don't associate with HN, so no.

    • +6

      i like this. being neutral.

both things can be true at the same time: crap store & good deal.

  • +1

it doesn't seem to say u get the flip?

  • It's a flipping deal !

  • I've already signed up to the $49 S22 plan. Does anyone know if you can sign up to a second plan?

    • If you pass credit check

      Needs to.be a different SIM/ number

  • So just to summarize
    1. go on harvey norman and sign up to the 69 a month and apply for new number
2.Once i get the new number, i port out to a presim card
3.insert my old sim into new device and use
    4. Wait for bill and happy days

    Correct?

    • Depends what the ETC are all up..

  • +2

Harvey Norman + Optus go really well together.

  • Does $588 + $49 cancellation still count to get you the phone? or is this phone only available on $69 deal?

  • +2

The link says you get a gift card …not a phone

  • How can you tell what phones are $0 with the $69 plan?

  • -2

The link provided do not show the phone. Its only the gift card deals.

    • +1

It's a deal that is not publicly advertised. You will have to go in-store to get it.

I got the Z Flip on this deal on Tuesday at a Domayne store.
Got a $59 clear plastic case thrown in as well :-)

Already an Optus Customer on a good deal migrated from Virgin, so wanted to keep old number..
    1. Signed up for the deal as a new, additional service (new number) on my Optus account.
    2. In the Car Park, I cancelled the service.
    3. At home, put sim in new phone and Migrated my old phone to new.
    4. Got bill today which had an $832.60 charge on it for the cancellation fee, not sure why not $828.

Looks like they've pro-rata you 2 days worth of usage.

      $69/30 days = $2.30/day.

2days x $2.30 = extra $4.60 on top of your $828 cancellation fee, which comes to $832.60 in total.

    • How did you cancel the service? call them? web chat?

  • Is a similar deal like this available for the 256GB model?

Also, I'm not quite understanding the reason for having to port-out to a separate SIM? Should it not be as straightforward as cancelling the new Optus service and inserting an existing SIM?

    • I picked up one just before and asked the same question (re 256gb) - you're able to pay the difference (+$150) upfront to upgrade to the 256gb, but you can't have it spread out as handset repayments over the course of the contract.

I believe this is because Optus still process this deal as the said "gift card" plan, and Harvey Norman are the ones that are giving a phone (instead of the $700 gift card).

    • I think the port out to say a $2 prepaid SIM is just an easier way to force Optus to cancel rather than having to call them.

  • $828 + $150 is a good deal for the 256GB if it totals to around $978~! No issue paying upfront as I intend to cancel straight away anyway and will have to pay the $828 cancellation fee.

  • I went into Harvey Norman to suss out this deal. The sales rep bagged out Samsung watches and phones and didn't even mention the deal. Might just trade my phone in for $500 to telstra and get the galaxy watch 5. Seems a better deal after that experience.

Picked one up yesterday, cancelled today and will end up paying $828. This is a fantastic deal. Title should really be updated to reflect $828 outright. Thanks OP!!!

  • Thanks OP. There is also a trade-in bonus deal for this phone where HN will credit you an additional $300 on top of the trade in value as provided by the "Asurion Trade Up" app (which gave the best trade-in value for my phone out of JB, Samsung). The salesperson was permitted to give the trade-in value as a store credit voucher, but not permitted to apply the $300 bonus in the same way - it must be part of a purchase, so can use $150 towards a 256GB version, some towards a case, and depending on your luck some applied as a discount to an accessory.

  • Just paid the bill and for some reason the total was $793.50 instead of $828, which is a fantastic price for the 128GB model. Did anyone else end up paying less than $828?
