Was looking for a decent power board with surge protection and came across these clearance items at Harveys. Few others on the site as well.
Unsure of the quality of these.

OOS for click and collect anywhere around Melbourne CBD, and delivery to Melbourne CBD is $29.95

    • I think it's the length of the cheaper ones. If you try the av800 it is much less. 29.95 for the 6 outlet and 7.95 for the av800. That's to Cairns

    • Same in Sydney.

  • Being 'Monster' branded I was expecting a higher RRP - $99 for 4 Port & $129 for 6 Port

A whopping 300J of shortage protection… That's terrible and about a tenth of the protection offered by a reputable surge protector

    • +1

Yeah. 300j isn’t much of a surge protector

    • +1

Yeah, just checked. Belkin does up to 900J

      • Was searching for this number. Pretty poor but the PB itself has a nice stand for desktop use. At $24 I'd probably bite.

2000 or so joules with a low clamping voltage and fast response time is recommended
      300j = nothing

  • Delivery $29

  • +1

    delivery kills the deal

    • Usually it depends where your nearest store is when it's computer related.

      I agree though 300j isn't worth it.

Need a $300 Monster HDMI cable.
Anything less is a fake and will give bad signal

  • delivery $29 kills the deal

  • Any decent surge boards anyone can recommend other than this one?

    • Please help

Monster is best. If you do not believe me, ask Jerry Harvey

Are all the surge arrestor components gold plated?

There are many in previous posts including one on amazon, such as the Cyberpower 8 port.

Just type cyberpower into the box on the top right hand side. Currently $37 inc delivery.

        It's 2750j BTW.

Monster is very coy about their specs, like clamping voltage, joules, response time.

I wasted a couple of hours looking at surge protectors a few years ago and the absolute top notch, cream of the crop, expensive, was Thor.

Loki isn’t going to like that

Thanks. I needed someone to do that. Shame I'm too cheap tho

But for $350… Space out ALL the ports so they all take power bricks!

  • Boy, that $29 shipping really leaves an impact if you're used to Amazon Prime.

I like the spaced out plug designs and the build quality looks quite good. But wondering if the joule rating is a typo. Maybe 3000 instead of 300. A Belkin one that I'm currently using for my tv is for 3195J

    • They are not that spaced. Not for power bricks at least. See last pic

This looks like the same thing but with claimed 578J surge protect

  • i need two 4 or 6 ports units that control my leds lights in the wardrobe. They will sit on top of wardrobes in roof. It will get very hot and dusty over time.. and cold in winter. Any thoughts on best case option?

Lots of discussion about the surge rating … if your house is actually hit by lightning then no surge protector will stop it.

Is there such a thing as small surges that are too large for this powerboard but not too large for other powerboards ? Probably not - we aren't all continuously losing electronics to mysterious "surges".

I use https://www.amazon.com.au/PT8888-Metal-Powerboard-Jackson-93… and they're excellent quality, I never feel like I'm crunching contacts when I connect a plug. The surge rating is even lower than the one in this deal.

  • Are the Monster Platinum AV 800 Surge Protector worth $75 odd?

  • Who is Harvey again ?? Is he Normal ?
