Damn I need to visit Japan as our dollar is parity with the yen so this would be so cheap to just buy there for $38 aussie

    • What about GST? Would you have to declare it at Australian custom when getting back?

Item 15 seems to indicate no. Unless of course your Gundam is made of tobacco or booze, in which case I presume the law changes.

      • Nah that's only if you buy things online.

Otherwise they would be super double dipping if you are paying say the VAT or other sales taxes overseas then again at home for money you spent overseas etc.

        • Sweet! Now only if I got the time for a Japan trip lol

          • @Grey 13: Lol yeah last time I visited I bought an extra suitcase just for all the cheap stuff I bought same as visiting China haha

        • Don't you get VAT refund at JP airport?

          • +2

@Dream-cast: No need. You can just present your passport at time of purchase to get the tax knocked off. Or just go to one of the many tax counters around the place.

No one checks anything at the airport either.

    • $15 for shipping isnt that bad but official release date is on Aug. So 4 months wait heh

    • wow when did we get parity? time to visit jp!

    • Just in case anyone is going to china, you can also buy gundam in China for basically rrp. In japan you can buy below a little rrp.

  • Thanks, got one

I can't believe they got a cockpit in a RG, that'll be something to see.

  • How is 2.0 different to 1.0?

    • +2

From the article linked in the OP, and judging from recent RG releases, this will essentially be a scaled-down MG.
The early RGs (RX-78 1.0 included) utilised pre-formed inner frames that while technically impressive (we're talking fully articulated frame straight off the sprue), become floppy and unable to hold poses after a short while.
The newer RGs use less of these pre-formed inner frames (if at all) and instead opt for MG-style inner frames that you build up from scratch.

      TL;DR: 2.0 is better.

  • Why December?
It should be released August 2024.
Correct me if I am wrong…

The stock is from Amazon AU so it wont be the same release as Japan.

    • Maybe Amazon AU wasn't quick enough to order their stock allocation and have to wait for 2nd or 3rd batch of stock.

  • Thanks, got one!

  • Do you guys reckon it's worth it to have this after building the MG 3.0 version?

My long tern goal is to have the PG RX 78.2 next to my MG version.

Don't want the experience to build an RG to feels moot.

    • +1

I reckon so, with all the improvements with the last few RG's and the fact that MG 3.0 is over 10 years old now. I would expect this to be a much better building experience over the MG 3.0.

      Bandai, MG 4.0 when? ;)

      • I haven't really build RG kit (mainly MG). I think thr difference in size will drive me nuts. Lol

        • I was the same until recently - but jumped on the RG wagon with the Epyon and since then I've done Sazabi and just started on the Nu. They've all been pretty good experiences so far. But I've also deliberately selected the "2.0" RGs that you need to build the inner frame and it's not a prebuilt frame. The only problem I've had with the smaller size is the decals are a little more fiddly - but I always use tweezers so it's not a huge problem.

    • The RG RX-78-2 2.0 seems to build like a mini PG Unleashed. It has an inner frame and some of the armour are moulded in small pieces instead of one big piece.

  • If I wasn't going to Japan soon I'd buy this for sure. Our exchange rate is so good atm compared to JPY

    • Preorder now. If you successfully buy one in Japan, then cancel this one.

The preorder price dropped to $44.81. Don't know how the price guarantee works.

    • Your pre-order price will match that usually by the end of the day.
