Roborock Region Lock Bypass Guide

I bought a QrevoMaxv equivalent from China P10S and it's region locked.

It works fine without the app but I'd like to use the app. Chinese Sim, timezone and app region didn't do the trick. Seems like a lot of effort for a VPN trick but wouldn't have a clue as to which VPN is working and having to set it up on the spare router is quite a tedious process. Additionally, there is no equivalent of an international model motherboard out yet so can't switch out the motherboard.

Anyone have a working way to bypass region lock?

I kinda don't want to open my S8 Pro Ultra because I want to get the newest model.

  • This is what I ended up using for my x30 ultra.

It's a DNS which bypasses the region lock.

Its a PITA to spend the $3.40 per month (or thereabouts), but the alternative is to have a crippled vacuum.

    Looking for free alternatives….

    • I mean, if it works, it's better than nothing. So you need a spare router to input the dns?

      • Ideally you'd do that if you cared about security, and just have the vacuum connected through this spare router…
If you do decide to go down this option, you'll have to subscribe for the $3.4 tier, and there is some link to click which registers your IP address against your subscription.

despite doing this, it does take some time before it'll start working, but works very well once it gets going.

        • Sounds like a lot of work and ~$41/yr. Was the saving worth it?

          • @JimmyF: Considering the savings was almost 1.5k at the time, I believe its well justified.
well, it needs to operate issue free for another 2 or 3 years before I can definitely say its worth it.
If I knew it would be geoblocked I would never have bothered.

I wouldn't do it again - I'd just buy something locally instead :/

@Zoop: I thought you two were talking about vacuum cleaners, then got really confused by VPN/motherboard/bypassing.

Looked it up and you two are really talking about vacuum cleaners…

Its a good saving, but yeah being geoblocked is a bit of a pain.

I've got some xiaomi units that are like that. My vac is locked to one server, the other stuff geolocked to different server. Pain in the butt, as you have to keep switching servers if you want to tweak them.

If I did it again, I would get them all on the same server at least.

    • do you know if it's a dns block or tunnel to china?

  • I have a Roborock T7. There is no permanent solution. Every solution I tried (except DNS VPN which is not my preference) will get blocked after a couple of weeks.

  • How much from China?

    • A lot cheaper when the sale is right. It was $800-$900 for the newest model

      • Cool. Does that include shipping to Aus? Please post link to buy. I wanna buy one for my parents. They don't care about app. Just need to work when the button is pressed on the robot.

        • No, but how do you know when it stops working and why it stops working. Can they understand chinese?

          • @sunnyc: They have been using Xiaomi 1st gen Robot for 5-6 years now without any issues. Never used the app

@InternetExplorer: then pretty perfect. but you would need to find someone to ship it out, its around $2.5-4 a kilo sea freight and the whole setup is around 10kg+
