  • You don't need to provide a link to the camels for Amazon stuff.

    • But then they'll have to move their mouse/finger a couple cms. I'm trying to be a good poster and make things easier for everyone.

Didn't know there was one, but no thanks. If a mod wants to move it I have no problem with that.

Edit: if there are dedicated threads for books, videogames etc, I'll start posting in the vinyl thread.

            @rosebank: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/528364

The forum thread was started up because a lot of these amazon deals have minimal stock and jump back up in price after a couple of purchases.

Makes me teary eyed looking at the prices back when the thread first started:
            Lupe Fiasco - Drogas Light - $9.37
Solange - A Seat at the Table $14.55
Fat Joe Don Cartagena - $15.59

If only we realised how good we had it back then. Would've bought a whole lot more vinyl. Now we're posting albums for $50-60 :/

@astrotrain: This is one of my Amazon orders from 2018:

              FKA Twigs - LP1
              Portishead - Live Roseland NYC
              Portishead - Dummy
              OutKast - Stankonia
              Air - Moon Safari
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

              $106.35

This JID LP is a relatively new release, so $40 isn't too bad. I pre-orderd Ari's eternal sunshine for under $30. You just have to be patient and wait for deals. In the past few months I got Death Grips - Year of the Snitch for $40, BLACKPINK - Born Pink for $30, the new Caroline Polachek for $30, The Roots - undun for $35, Doja Cat - Planet her $40, Silk Sonic $40, Lana - Born to Die $35. The prices just randomly change, you have to be in the right place at the right time. Like M.I.A. - Arular has been going up and down for months, lowest was about $35-40, It's currently $44 but only 2 left: https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0007KIFLY so can't post. I think I paid about $30 years ago; $44 is still decent for 2024.

I'm pretty much over my vinyl phase, and going back to whisky and watches. I least with those posts you don't have to deal with people who don't even buy vinyl, or understand that prices have jumped a lot the past few years, and that $60 is the new normal. The worst is when you post an iconic album from your favourite rapper's favourite rapper collabing with a legendary producer, at a bargain price, and there are people who don't even listen to rap calling it a shit album. And apparently black rappers aren't allowed to say the N word, unless it was in the early 90s, and that we (they) should have "evolved" by now.

And my post for Death Grips - The Money Store got randomly removed from the front page, one dude just kept saying the artwork and music is shit, but refused to give me examples of "good music/artwork", and got negged because they looked at the atl on 3camels that occured in 2019, therefore the current price in 2024 is not a bargain.

I posted 2 Taylor Swift albums just to watch OzB lose their collective minds.

Someone posted Lizzo and the comments were f'ing disgusting.

Yeah, I type novels when I'm on my pain meds lol. Thanks for reading.

@rosebank: Haha dont worry i upvote your posts bro same with the sneaker links you post. A lot of people on here just arent into the same genres and fashion. Still sucks that vinyl prices are ridiculous these days. If anything prices should have flattened out as production has ramped up massively since the vinyl resurgence. Companies have really caught on and are trying to bleed us with all these special editions and limited colour vinyl etc. How many versions of Nas Illmatic does someone really need?

How many versions of Nas Illmatic does someone really need?

                  all of them lol

@rosebank: I knew you would say that but noone says anything in posts about those things. I haven't said much, but people do complain in vinyl posts.

            • @ozbs25: Knew I would say what?

I haven't said much, but people do complain in vinyl posts

Then why say anything at all? People only complain in vinyl posts by certain artists and genres of music. Like if I post a Tame Impala album or Bon Iver, or even an Eminem album for $60+, I don't think you'll see the shitshow in the comments like a Taylor Swift album or some rap albums.

              • @rosebank: I knew you would talk about about dedicated threads for games or whatever. I'm just saying there were people who thought this place had turned into OzVinyl.

I don't complain about the all the vinyl posts. I actually look at all the vinyl posts as I want to find some new music to listen to and generally the vinyl posts are of artists I've never heard of. I did mention the dedicated thread to the other vinyl poster at some stage. I guess the complaints about the amount of vinyl were possibly aimed more at them.

@ozbs25: The number of vinyl posts on Ozbargain is nothing compared to PCs, PC parts, laptops, and monitors. That's just one category. Look at the front page right now

                  • +1

@rosebank: Yeah, I get that. Vinyl is just a bit niche though. I guess you could say I'm somewhat interested in vinyl and at one stage it did get to be a little bit annoying.

I think we've spent enough time talking about something that I guess I probably shouldn't have pushed against considering it's actually something I don't mind. We shouldn't let a few complainers ruin it for the majority. Look forward to looking into the artists and stories behind your future vinyl posts.

                    • @ozbs25: Thank you for the civil discussion.

Different people like different things; the complainers and trolls don't seem to comprehend this concept.
