  • I want that PS3 :( My optical drive just died.

    what the hell

how are there still ps3 slims out there?

    • +4

Old stock they probably found in a warehouse. It's the same PS3 slim i bought from Target last year for $249 but this came with a game and HDMI cable.

It's not bad considering it's about the price you'd pay for a good standalone 3D blu-ray player and plus it doubles as a gaming console and as you know the PS3 plays 3D blu-ray.

      • The Slim isn't that one that's backwards compatible with PS2/1 is it?

        • +1

          No, that's the 60GB Phat

        • +1

          Only the 60gb?

        • +1

          Yes.

    • Plenty of them at a few Gold Coast stores, they just aren't shifting for some reason. Helensvale still has quite a few today, as did Southport Park a few days ago.

Wouldn't it be nice if these were 3.55 firmware…

    • Except you'd have some compatibility issues with the newer 3D blu-ray movies running that old firmware.

      • +1

I don't think you are interested in 3D movies if you want 3.55 firmware, more gaming fun to be had and homebrew apps

        • -5

Yeah true. Unfortunately my PS3 slim 160GB from Target last year didn't come with the 3.55 firmware. It was a few firmware releases newer.

Actually going by this it's possible to downgrade the PS3 to firmware 3.55 using a hack. But too bad if you brick the PS3 while attempting it.

Meh, buy your games. Nobody likes to be stolen from.

        • +2

No body said any thing about stealing games.

        • +2

Oh c'mon, nobody buys a PS3 for homebrew.

        • +4

With a certain custom 3.55 firmware you can make the PS3 DVD region switchable so can play your UK or US DVD movies play on it.

        • @beakeroo Good to see you are keeping up with current trends.

        • The link you posted is terrible dude, it's for downgrading from 3.55 to 3.41 which is irrelevant and WILL BRICK YOUR PS3.

        • +2

@hotzone, good to have a good job and pay for stuff.

        • What else can you do with the 3.55 firmware on a PS3? I stocked a few of them.. ;-)

        • Is this Broden?

        • Im just collecteing them, different colours, different editions. But never open. :)

  • Got mine from Kmart last time at 229 3.40 version. But dont intend to use any home brew. Upgraded to latest version.

Was just at Target Epping, VIC. They've got 1 Wii fit bundle left at $44, a few games at $4 and $9, only noteworthy one being Metroid at $9. Also Zelda: Skywards sword at $19.

Been to Target at Macquarie shopping center, none on sale, no $189 console or $4 games… what a waste of time…

    • +5

You could have phoned them and saved yourself some grief. shrug
They'll even hold them for 24 hours if they have them in stock. Can't ask for much more.

Well, I am only here to let other OZbargainers in the area to know what this particular Target has to offer, so that they won't waste their time checking… I was there for other stuff and thought I might as well find some bargain but nothing… If you don't like it, doesn't bother me…
