50% off Gaming eg Xbox360 4GB Slim w/ 1 Game - $74.97 (in Store Only) David Jones Market St

1150

David Jones at Market Street (Sydney) is offering 50% off the marked discounted prices of all electronic gaming items (INCLUDING consoles), CDs, DVDs, BluRays etc

There were four Xbox 360 consoles just like this one on display in the glass cabinets http://twitpic.com/cvcq9n (about $30-40 less than somewhere like Harvey Norman)

And then they get hit with the 50% off treatment http://twitpic.com/cvcq9c (NB: receipt folded to hide c/card details).

I reckon that must be pretty close to the cheapest brand new Xbox 360 units in the country right now.

Three (3) XBox 360 sets like this left as at 6.32pm tonight (after I grabbed one). Plenty of DSi, 3DS packages. No Wii/WiiU consoles. No PS3s. Heaps of software titles for all platforms EXCEPT Wii U. Prices range from spectacular for DJs (eg Pilot Wings Resort 3DS for $10) to "are you kidding me!?" (eg Forza 2 for XB360 at $39.95 after 50% off - pfft)

Good luck with price matching and/or scouring your local David Jones store.

Must've been 1000+ games and accessory items on sale with a further 50%-off offered on each. You don't need luck to find them. Just a pair of eyes and/or a mouth.

        • +12

          hands come in handy..

        • +4

          Nicely-played, sir, nicely-played.

        • +27

Wow! Most profound case of OzBargain 'keyboard sulking' I've seen for a while.

(Hint: if you don't want to take a chance on landing a console, or any of the games/accessories on offer, then simply don't go in. It's pretty simple, really.)

        • +16

Well I don't suppose you could expect anything else from a guy called "acrankyoldman".

        • +1

Being fair though, these were $100 back in October at DJ's and most stores sold out back then. I feel sorry for the sales assistants at the Sydney store that are probably getting a call every 5 minutes about it. Some customers are nice, some will hold up the assistant asking them to check every store and then even call said store that has stock. Crankyoldman is just trying to make the sales assistants' lives a little easier? maybe?

  • +4

geez really living up to your username ^^^

  • +3

I worked in that store before and even I didn't know they sell games.

    • +26

explains why you no longer work with them I guess :)

      • You sound as though I even want to work there. Many who have worked there before are glad it's over how they push their staff into selling their Amex cards.

And people obviously miss the joke, not many people know they sell games.

    • That's because the games came over from Elizabeth St where they used to sell games until they moved it to Market St after last year's refurbishment.

  • Can anyone confirm if the same deal is on at Chatswood DJ?

    • It's a further 50% off on all games and accessories as part of the national DJ's June clearance. This does not include ipod/ipad gaming related accessories though.

    • Had my gf duck into the Chatswood store on her lunch break, apparently there's no games or consoles left, just some gaming accessories like Wii Speak and DS cases.

  • these are great models to get hacked also

  • +5

Wow, at that price I'm surprised you didn't Broden it.

    • I was 20mins/4km from the store before I saw the "can you grab me one" FB posts and tweets from the people I know. :-)

      • any idea what the dsi / 3ds prices are like ?

  • +3

Now there's a console so cheap why don't you guys have the oz bargain meet up in David Jones

  • buy one and trade in EBGames?
    win? or fail?

    • +2

You know what Eb's are like with their trade in prices so I'd probly say a fail

    • Gumtree =)

  • any idea what the dsi / 3ds prices are like ?

    • +2

DSi was $89 in ACT, DS Lite $50….3DS unknown

      • Which store? Every dj in canberra I talked to either sold their last consoles months ago or didnt sell them in the first place…

  • Good find, however very fishy. I bought an xbox back in November for half price and was told 'We're clearing the stock and will not be carrying any more consoles'. Went back later to get a 2nd one and they were sold out. Looking at the unit above it's from the last Rugby world cup, so looks like they did have some more units and someone was either hiding them, or some were moved there from a warehouse. I doubt they would stock transfer these, they sold like hot cakes last time.

    • I noticed about two months back that all the gaming stuff from David Jones Warringah Mall disappeared pretty much overnight, there was definitely no special clearances that I noticed (and they had plenty of games previously). Perhaps the city store got stock transfers from smaller stores like that?

  • Most of the David jones in Adelaide has pretty much cleared all their stock the previous clearance sale

  • Outrageous console price! $75

    I'm doubting that there's any stock left…

  • if some one can confirm stock at my store at this price i'll be packing my chair, jumper and food and lining up from 11:50am till it opens!!!

    • +3

pretty sure it opens before 11:50am…. good luck with that

      • hahahah..woops…u know what i meant (11:50pm).

        • +1

pretty sure its past 11:50pm…. good luck with that

        • can you promise you wont buy them all and leave me one tomorrow when i see you?

  • Anything else worth buying at this DJ's stocktake sale for under $100? I've got a $100 DJ's gift card sitting here from an American Express promotion, and it's burning a hole in my pocket, but last time I went into one of there stores, everything was ridiculously overpriced. I'd buy one of these consoles if I had to, but I've already got 3 Xbox's sitting at home, and I haven't used them in at least 9 months.

    • +7

you can add another, 4 is a very nice number

    • You can always ask them to price match I have no problem when I bought my Samsung Smart TV 60". She even matched the cheapest price found online.

    • +1

theres 50% a whole range of cookware..e.g. Jamie Oliver Tefal. if that happens to be what you're after..

  • While I want to jump on this, my inner bargain hunter tells me to wait for better deal with bigger HDD.

Side note: Does anyone know what cheap 3DS games they have?

    • +1

The 3DS games which I can remember: Tekken (something); Pilot Wings Resort; Steel Diver; Sonic & All-Stars Racing; Cooking Mama (something); Brain Age; Star Fox; mario Kart 7. MARKED prices ranged from $19.95 to $29.95 (then take 50% off).

      • star fox was 49. wasn't worth it

        • thanks both of you.

damn i want star fox cheap :P

        • At target for $14 if you can find it

  • Are PSN cards on sale too?

    • I didn't see any. Plenty of PS3 games, however.

      • ok thank you

    • They have PSN cards but they fall under the EPAY department and are therefore not part of the sale. Same for microsoft points.

  • got one. saw a lot of people running up to the top floor. prob looking for them too

  • +3

Nothing in DJs Bourke St Melbourne.

  • all gone now…

  • Better off looking around DS for consoles. Went to pick up my uniden phone from Dandenong and they still had an xbox kinect adventure bundle for $74.50. They even threw in an extra 1 year warranty free.

  • Any ps vita?

    • Unfortunately David Jones never stocked the PS Vita. They've got a shelf full of PSP games starting from $2.50 after discount though. :)

  • +1

Just did some ringing around, seems although there are none left in Melbourne unfortunately :( I was really looking for some old stock that was easy to xk3y as my current console is new and cost alot more to do due to RGH.

Anyway for all you people in sydeny apparently the market street store is suppose to still have some stock, so good luck! and if you want to sell it to me for $100 and make a quick small profit, pm's welcome, and ill even let you keep the rugby game if you want! lol

    • +2

They were gone at 9:00:00.5, mate.

      • +3

Not sure why I would get negged, I gave information to save people time, and maybe I asked to buy one, but just scroll up and look at the people wanting to buy this just to flog it off on eBay, or gumtree or even trade in at EB, I mean they should be getting negged for taking the deal away from people who need it, such as myself!

If anything I put myself in less of a situation for buying the product at more then what I could if I really tried, rather then have a rant at the guys who are trying to turn profit off this from desperate people for the product like me, but now that I got negged, well I might as well.

  • Totally none in Brisbane City….just out interest.

  • Thanks for the post. I just got the last black 3ds from DJ's Southland, Vic for a grand total of 49.95. Was marked as $99.95 reduced but the cashier guy was more then happy to take the extra 50% off for me as the sign stated.
Admittedly it looked like a returned stock (box wasn't sealed and no console packaging) but still looked brand new and has full return warranty so….
Ps. Was fair few ds & dslite consoles left 30mins ago.

    • I came in right after you and got a PSPgo, DS Lite and DSi. All consoles were marked at the sale price, not the normal price. So essentially, we got our stuff for 75% off.

He said he was going to change the marked prices later on in the day, so if anyone in the area is quick, you can probably get the last 2 DSs and PSPgo before he changes the prices.

I also asked him if he had any consoles out the back, but he said everything was on the showfloor.

There were quite a few games there too, some of decent quality. I managed to snag a couple of PSP games for $2.50 and Boom Street Wii (first party Nintendo) for $25.

      • Aww. The DS Lite is an awesome buy. I would of got one as a backup to mine. I take it it was $50?

        • DS Lite I got for $32.49.

  • WA people I checked out DJs Hay St - plenty of PS3 and 360 games in the home entertainment area, and a couple DSi consoles, the games for the consoles were a bit older but there was a large selection.

If anyone is after ds or 3ds games, they are for some reason stocked in the childresnwear section - unfortunately nothing that I wanted but there was FIFA, splinter cell, Pokemon and the usual nintendogs etc.

Im looking out for Mario Kart and Mario 3d Land

    PS: No consoles available there

    • There was one mario kart in there mate.

No mario land (I was looking for that too)

I really wanted Mario Land, Luigi's Mansion 2, Donkey Kong, Castlevania or Tales of the abyss. Didn't get any of them.

  • Just walked into Market St.
    All sold out everywhere.

  • None in WA :(

Anyone know where the next cheapest place is to get a new Xbox 360?
I'd pick one up if it was under $100, just to play Forza.

  • Had a chat with one of the sales guys at Market St, apparently the stock was transferred in from their online warehouse and he said there were only 3 xboxes to begin with. Two were sold yesterday, so there was a grand total of one xbox (and 2 DS) up for grabs today

    • -1

were you the sexy chick there in the morning at ~9am?

  • This is bloody cheap. Is this at DJ Market St only?

  • Anyone know whats left at Market Street (in general)? Might have a pop in to see if there are any PS3 games/accessories for cheap tomorrow.

  • None left went today! the games they have are really old and really crappy and not even cheap

  • Any gaming consoles at all left at market st?

  • Doncaster (Vic) had the Nintendo DS XL (Non-3d) for $50 when i went there today. DS no XL was like $70.

    • Was there anything good left @ Doncaster?

      • Haha, no. I was looking for an Xbox or PS3 but they stopped stocking them about a year ago.

Lots of games pretty cheap though.

  • No consoles at Chermside in Brisbane. They had one DJ hero Renegade edtion for the Xbox that I almost bought. I think it's was marked at about $49, so $25 after the 50% off. It was in a fricken MASSIVE box with the stand, case, turntable, Jay-Z/Eminem cd etc… I've already got enough guitars, drums, keyboards etc… for the 360 that I don't use, so I gave it a miss, but it's a good price.

    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/game/xbox-360/dj-hero-bundle-…

Apparently they were selling for nearly $300 at one stage.

    http://www.sanity.com.au/products/2135908/Dj_Hero_Renegade_E…

    • Yes, I saw one at my local store as well. Very tempted just because of the size of the packaging itself, ha ha… but I managed to resist at the end, so proud of myself… this is after 14 games I bought from DS and Target these few days… But would be nice to know if it is worth the $25…

      • Yeah…it's really cheap for $25. I was standing there for about 10 minutes alternating between "really cheap/don't need it, really cheap/don't need it, really cheap/don't need it".

I'd probably get a weekends worth of use out of it, and then it would just be taking up space alongside the drums/keyboard/guitars, and my gf would have killed me if I'd brought it home.

  • and 3DS consoles or 3DS XL?? at market street? Just rang up and was told they haven't sold consoles in years so it seems fishy and Im assuming the lady on the other end was a bit oblivious to what they are.

    • +1

I think it varies depending on the store. The guy I talked to today said that DJ's are getting out of all gaming products, so it's pretty much a total clearout of everything that each store has left.

Some stores may have already sold out in previous Christmas/Boxing day sales etc…, so they probably don't have anything left to sell.

I have a feeling I could have even got a further discount on items that were already 50% off today because they seemed keen to get rid of everything they had left ASAP.

  • +1

Went to the Doncaster store yesterday - there was about 4 different Nintendo DS Consoles left if anyone's interested, all 50% off

    • Yeah they are more than 50%. The DS XL's scan at $50.

  • I got Sonic Colours for Wii for $14.97. If it doesn't have a reduced sticker ask them to scan it. It just said $79.99, and someone forgot to put a sticker on it. This was a Bourke St Melbourne. They have plenty of those DJ Hero bundles and some other Guitar Hero crap. A lot of DS games, no idea which ones and some pretty average PS3 and Xbox 360 games.

  • Adelaide CBD had crap sports game and a few other average games left. Dont waste your time. Also had a few bluray movies but still not cheap at $12.00 and crap titles

  • Went into the Sydney CBD store today. Still heaps of games left, but most of them are really old and not really a bargain at 50% off. Probably the best thing there was Smash Bros for Wii for $30. The only consoles left were 2 x DSi, but they were $90 each. I grabbed a couple of ok deals, but will check back in a couple of weeks to see if they've got 75% off.

  • +1

I was working out in Parramatta yesterday so I checked out the David Jones at the nearby Westfields.

► Lots of Xbox360, PS3, DS, 3DS and Wii Game titles
    ► Some PS2 titles (collectors take note - $5.00 labels = $2.50 at register)
► Lots of console controllers (both original and aftermarket) - eg Microsoft XBox360 Wireless Wheel for $29.99
► Lots of accessories (eg skins, cases, stylii etc) for all platforms
    ► No consoles remaining

Photo of the two tables http://twitpic.com/cvigf5

DJ Hero "Renegade Edition" (the one with carry case, metal stand etc) was 90% off at $24.97 http://twitpic.com/cvigfd - DONE DEAL!

  • OK people there are still a lot of games at Sydney CBD, and tomorrow they are putting out a stack of DJ Hero, Guitar Hero, Wii resort and accessories. I don't think they will go 75%, well probably not until the next half clearance maybe.

    • Any example of PS3 or XBOX games?

  • Bought PS3 Playtv for $24.97 from Burwood DJ today

  • I've seen two DS XL consoles at Dj's Hornsby that are pretty cheap, alot of the prices are really good

  • Just bought the last opened box 360 MW3 limited edition for $70 at Castle Hills. The guy said may have something missing like hard disk, headset, etc. but he has no idea.

Now I found that comes with 320GB hard disk, 2 controllers, MW3 game. I think missing headset, remote control (is remote control part of the package? Because I saw two extra AA battery in the box).

Very happy, this is my second Xbox and the old one is the older model. Now I have two TVs and two Xbox so what I a going to do with them @.@.

    • wow, i had that one on hold. couldnt pick it up on saturday. called them today and they said it was gone!!

anyway have fun with it haha.

      • I saw a name on it and I did ask him is It somebody reserved it he didn't answer me directly but want to sell it to me.

  • DJ in city has PS3 and XBOX games at 50%, but they are quite old titles.
Eg. TimeShift ($10), Singstar ($10), Udraw ($17), Black Ops 1 ($20), nothing that stands out.

    • Warringah Mall have a lot but no price on them, I asked the guy he said have to bring it to him to scan to check.

      Don't bother to check.

  • anyone found 3DS consoles anywhere?????
