How much were these on sale for? We all should "make an offer" on ebay for that exact price ^_^

    • +2

      Less 5% staff discount?

  • +2

and after a recent sale, there were 6 left over, so I decided to get them.

    it was after the sale

    • +4

      and you actually believe him?

      • It's possible, as there seemed to be heaps of stock (according to the thread, some stores even had 15)

        Penrith had 15 in stock

And if there is an expiry date, the ebayer seller could've bought them for him/her-self

  • +1

    I made an offer for $50. :-)

  • +3

Now we know what happened to all the PS3's from this deal- http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/105318 $189

  • +5

    Broden?

  • MAde an offer for 189.
With a message to seller, calling him a sneaky employee

    • -6

i did the same :) offered him $1

      This was his reply

"Pretty sure that's how buying and selling works, you idiot, haha. If you're not going to submit a genuine offer, please leave."

      • +11

        Fair response

        • Yeah, zelda shoulda offered a buck fiddy at least…

        • No, he should have just set an auto rejection on anything under what he'd accept

  • what can we do to this person?

  • He just reduced the price to $278.90

  • looks like he's probably been selling other clearance items at target

    http://feedback.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&u…

    • haha yeah

Also seems like the person cleared the stock that came back(customer refunds)

Missed these comments. I most certainly did not get these items from Target, and were my own personal possessions. Returned items have a strict protocol surrounding them. :)

        • +1

          It's all good mate

  • +1

Screen shot it and the messages and call Target head office- they won't be happy!

    Their number is 1800 814 788
Don't email them, they take forever to reply!

I used to work at a Vic store while I was at uni… they take any complaints against employees very, very seriously! Several people from our store were fired just for posting photos online of themselves in the sound department glass cabinets… he's clearly profiting at the expense of the business and potential customers so they should know!

    • +15

It's people like you that made me glad to leave Target..

      • Oddly enough there is actually a clause in the agreement for employees that prevents them from doing stuff like this.
        Kmart has the same thing.
Its something they mention a fair bit when you start. Well, they used too…

  • -5

Agree with Gina. Submit an online complaint and he'll lose his job.

  • +2

    i feel sooooooooooooo mad… REPORT HIM!!!! :(

  • losing his job is not enough…. we should get them for the reduced price… or maybe cheaper.. or maybe a discount…or maybe nothing ;)

    • +6

No dammit, they should pay you to take them..

  • +23

I don't understand why people are so outraged by staff buying deals. You know you would given the chance. I know it's now a running joke because in the past Dick Smith staff have made it so blatant and commenting so, but why should they not be able to buy them? They just need to learn to keep their yaps shut, that's all. Something, this eBayer clearly lacks.

And he needs to charge more for postage, I doubt there is anywhere in Australia where you could send a boxed PS3 via Aust Post for $14.90, not even two streets away.

    • +10

He'll be using the store shipping system, no doubt

    • I sympathise with this opinion, but 6 is a bit extreme. I only take pity on the fact that he only works at Target, so he's probably young and doesn't earn much. Realistically if money is at all important to him he should get a better job.

      • +4

If money was tight how could he afford to buy up six PS3 consoles.

        • +1

          credit cards

  • +10

I don't know why you are are mad at this, it happens everyday, even right now.

He(let's just assume it's a guy) had the buying power to but it at a low price and sell it at a higher price to make some coin for himself.

Especially to the point where you guys want him to lose his job, what if he's a uni student just trying to make some extra money on the side, is it really affecting you guys. Only 2 or so of the users here(that commented are from NSW), and a slight chance of either of you being near Lismore

    • +20

I completely agree. Methinks OzB is just full of armchair white knights, stroking their neckbeards

  • +3

S/he is so honest to identify his/herself as a Target employee. It looks like the seller is confident that the action is (still) a valid thing.

Does anyone works in retail have a written contract which forbids re-selling using employee's purchase benefit?

    • +1

Even if the seller is honest, he/she is trying to convince buyer that items are legit and comes with warranty. But the poor guy may not know the consequences that the fact that someone is looking over him/her.

Some one can buy it and can have his/her accurate name and address if someone wants to make a move against him/her.

    • +2

For items that I have received from suppliers (prizes, items purchased at "staff/Pro" rates) etc there is an agreement that I can't sell them for at least a year…hence amongst other things I have a Sony A65 (Prize) and a Nikon J1 (incentive) that I have kept.

Not sure about Target, but other places usually have a quota that an employee can use to purchase for "personal" usage. They are not too fussed about using your quota for family and friends but they most certainly don't like it when you try to profit from it.

  • +9

Isn't this just capitalism in action?

  • +3

I've read comments from other deals with other people doing a similar thing, nothing new really

  • +9

Wow a lot of ozbargainers are a whiny bunch! Get over it. You missed out or didn't buy. Too bad!

It's funny how people her are happy to jump all over something that is clearly a mistake and then jump up and down until they get the product at a ridiculous price but as soon as something like this happens many of you turn into sir whine a lot…..

  • +64

Hello! The accused posting here. I have since ended the listing to avoid trouble. The employee part was there to add credibility; do you really think I would post it up if I was breaching my contract? As posted above, I bought them AFTER the sale, as it wouldn't be okay to buy multiple things for resale when items are on special as such. Pretty sad to see a forum dedicated to taking action to me (although, thanks to the people defending me a bit), when in all honesty, I'll be making a slim profit, and helping out my store manager by clearing the stock. Now, with that being said, they are 100% receipted brand new Australian stock with warranty, and I was accepting best offers of $250. If giving people good deals on a brand new product, and making a little bit of a profit on the side is such a bad thing, then I apologise profusely.

    • +30

Don't apologise. You've done nothing wrong mate, personally even if it wasn't after the sale, yeah it sucks for those that would have missed out, but that's capitalism for you. It's the way of our society and some people just enjoy finding trivial shit to get angry about. In future, maybe don't disclose that you're from target, might help you out in the end. Just say they were recently bought from a sale or something.

But sorry about this, not all of us are this petty and whiny.

    • +15

Good on you for coming here and defending yourself.
      + 1 also for being honest ..

PS.. I sent you an offer for 220 please accept :-)

    • +3

I Broden stuff that I find through OzB all the time, I just don't tell these guys about it for the most part.

I wouldn't beat myself up over it dude! ;)

      • +4

gasp not you too Stewballs! Nooooooo….

        • He stewballed it maybe? :P

        • +1

StewBalling is merely a cottage industry…Broden has built a mighty empire! ;)

    • +1

If you bought them when the sale was still on and took some away from a kid that really wanted one but couldn't afford one for $300, then people would judge you even if they can't stop you. But you bought them when the sale ended so you're all good in my books.

That being said, doing business will always earn you enemies. As long as you can live with yourself and what you've done then that's what matters.

    • +4

I'm not sure we are entirely allowed to do this.
I also work at Target, and we are reminded on occasion that we are not allowed to purchase products from the store, then resell them at a profit. Furthermore, we are asked to (and I always have) wait to purchase from a sale until at least the end of the first day, which you seem to have done on this occasion.

I had a look through the retail agreement, and it seems alright you doing this, though I haven't read through the allowed purchases using a Target for You card. It's possible that the stores I have worked at have had some sort of agreement…

Regardless, the fact that you left this until after customers had a chance to purchase the products gives you my support on a moral level. Customers haven't missed out, and there's potentially still plenty of stock (my store is in your region, and has a ton of them out the back).

  • +24

People wanting to get this guy sacked are awful.

    • +7

      They be jelly…

        • +11

Thank you CMI, for constantly reminding me that something I've said to you in the past has pissed you off so much that you feel compelled to follow me around OzB with negs & idiotic replies. As I've said before, the fact that I've gotten under your skin so badly, over something I can't even remember, is truly pathetic!

          Mission accomplished. :)

        • +5

i had someone follow me around on ozbargain negging me constantly because i made fun of them posting a 50c saving on a kfc voucher lol facepalm

        • +3

Oh I've got at least two groupies I know of. ArticFox (or something like that) used to follow me around negging me - he didn't like me mocking some Sony tablet deal and then spotting his troll account and reporting it which led to a short ban and I know that I regularly get two negs for even the simplest of replies very often.

        • +3

LOL, KFC is serious business Tal! ;)

I just laugh at this CMI guy, coz every time he trolls me it just reaffirms that to be so vindictive, over something so inconsequential, pretty much makes him my bitch! :p

It really surprises me that so many people on OzB just can't let things go…we all disagree at one point or another; that's life; it's all water under the bridge IMHO…

before or after the sale, who cares? i guess there are incentives to being a target employee, just the same as if you worked at a car dealership and drove a new car home every night. every job has its perks.

it's not like this guy marked them down himself. they were on special, he purchased as a customer. just like you would. now smarten up and stop stroking your neckbeards

  • +3

Well the way i see it is if what he did is perfectly acceptable by his company then it doesnt matter if people reported him, The company will say he didnt breach any agreements. So it will all be fine..now if people are worried that something might happen to them then doesnt it stand to reason its because they fear the company might feel that they did act unethically or breach some contract?

  • +1

I don't understand why he removed the listing "to avoid trouble"

What kind of trouble could be avoided? He already said that he wasn't breaching his contract.

    • +3

unnecessary attention, the less information people have to twist against him the better. I wouldn't be surprised if someone hasnt taken screenshots and already attempted to make a complaint.

What kind of trouble could be avoided? He already said that he wasn't breaching his contract.

He also said he bought them after they sale, not everyone read it…

  • +4

Fair enough … you can always try to become a Target employee to get this if you want. Should not complain about others' good opportunity you do not have.
You live close to a pretty girl then you have more opportunity to get her :)

  • +6

Thanks for the support and the opportunity to defend myself. I knew I was in the right, so wanted to try and clear myself about a listing I was getting personalised abuse over. Anyway, I am leaving out any relevance to Target in the listing I will put up again tonight, so, as said, to avoid this petty nonsense. I figured I will revise the price, and put them up for 260 BIN with best offers of 249+ accepted, 20 dollars postage. Thanks again!

    • +8

Just sell them privately on here, avoid eBay 9.9%. That's 24ish back in your pocket. Or in pocket for members here…

      • +5

I'd consider Gumtree as well, for the same reason…greedBay is getting a bit outlandish with fees.

        • pretty sure ebay/paypal owns gumtree

        • Yes they do.
The issue here is fees, not who owns which brand. Basic ads on GT are still free.

      • +2

Feel free to email me at [removed] if you'd like to make an offer on them! I'd love to dodge the eBay fees and give a cheaper price on the product.

  • +6

everyone is hating just because he is an employee and they are jealous. He bought the items like any other greedy customer would and is selling them for profit. Working retails jobs have very little rare perks and this is one them. Most people on here would have done the same thing.

  • They were selling for $199.83 as their clearance price. I took a photo of one available stock a fortnight back.

  • +4

Just to point out the obvious. This person hasn't committed any criminal offence. There were 6 remaining units AFTER the sale period ended so does that not mean that the stock going back on the shop floor would be the normal retail price? This person has done nothing wrong and is getting crucified for what?

  • +5

This is a ridiculous and pointless thread. I'm pretty sure reselling something isn't illegal, that is what RETAILERS do…….. so why can't one individual do it as well?

  • +15

I seriously agree, you guys are such tight asses, expecting no one to make a profit.

GET OVER IT WHO CARES IF HES MAKING SOME MONEY

Far out, I dont even like posting ANYTHING on this site, because of all the negative comments you guys always dish

    • Yep, some people get some serious butthurt over profiting on sales, some people got pretty mad at me when Shell had a bowser error at 78c for vpower and myself + a few others bought close to 8000L to resell.

    • +1

"Far out, I dont even like posting ANYTHING on this site, because of all the negative comments you guys always dish"

      Got that right

  • +2

For what he did was nothing compared with the Coles staff tries to hide all the roasted chicken for themselves to stop customers from buying them at rrp $10 each so they can buy them at $3 each when the store is closed. I was so pissed when i got there at 8.30pm found out they were all hidden at the back and told me they were reserved.

  • Probably another one, just opened a new ebay account, http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190852…

  • deleted

  • +1

if you work at target chances are you need the extra income from those perks.. flogging it on ebay gets you abysmal profit after fees and postage anyway i don't know why you would bother

  • this dose i used to at dicksmith buy up all cheep stock resell it i remember $20 xbox sale. game sale from hell got heap of cheep stuff.

    • +1

      What does that even mean!?

  • +2

Google "Arbitrage" then you will know there nothing to be mad about. Anyone is in a position to take the advantage and not to mention there is risk involved of the price difference for a desired profit or return is fair. Unless what he did was harming the business and reputation of his employers which was in breach of his employment contract, otherwise it is perfectly fine he took the chance and risk for a profit he wants.

  • +3

I can safely say he is NOT a staff member as I was working at the store when the purchase was made….I'm not sure why he claims to be a staff member though as it doesn't make a difference either way that have been paid for legitimately.

    • +3

lol, I'm gonna grab some popcorn.

      Please continue…

      • +2

The purchase was legit and therefore it is now his property to do as he pleases. Not much more to it then that guys!

        • +3

Except that he lies to us both on here and eBay.

    • +3

      The employee part was there to add credibility;

      Well so much for that…

      • +2

we're going to need more popcorn…

    • Huh? There's only one Target? There's only one Target that sells PS3s? There's only one Target that sold 6 PS3s?

In short, how do you know which purchase was his and whether or not he's staff?

      • Fair questions, I'd be interested to hear the answers too…

  • As I didn't make the sale I could be completely off (my manager informed me he had sold the six remaining PS3's) but as the sale was last week a few days before the thread started and the area isn't exactly massive (we are not a actual target, we are the smaller target country type store) I thought it was a pretty good guess…as for the staff thing my manager didn't say anything about it unless he was part of the Coles Myer chain which then would make sense of the claim. Again, if it was the same purchase at our store we are a small team and store therefore I would be aware if one of my fellow team members made the purchase.

    • Did your manager say if the sale was still continuing when he bought them or did he buy them after the sale finished?

      • I should clarify that what happened was target had the 'below cost' sale which you all saw with the constant posts on here about cheap deals. Even though that promotion had ended, any leftover stock we had was still at that price (which is why they were not available online as it was store specific as the promotion had ended). The stock had been on the sales floor for weeks at the 'below cost' sale price and we had only sold one or two prior to the six being sold. I was honestly surprised it took so long to sell them all but then again its not exactly a huge area so that may be the reason why.

    • +1

You realize that chances are he bought them at another Target branch.

I think that challenging another person's credibility should be based on more than the number 6. However this is the internet and I am expecting too much.

      • The seller is from a town with less than 50000 people. I doubt theres many people who would have bought exactly 6 PS3's from the store and they end up on ebay a few days later.

  • That was also my thoughts videoman but then people are entitled to their own opinion. Just seemed very coincidental to me that's all.

  • +2

This isn't where I parked my car

  • +1

Target springwood in qld still has a few last night. No need to pay over $200 if you guys still interested:)
