Almost half the Steam special at the moment. Nice.

  • I already have Civ V normal so can I get this and give the code for Civ V to a friend and keep the other bits for myself?

    Regards
    Daniel

No I don't believe you can.
Civ V Gold Upgrade is only $5 on steam however, so tell your friend to buy his own :D

      • Stupid question, but where do I find this "upgrade"?

        • Haha, yep found it, thanks. My brain just couldn't see it.

        • +1

Thanks. Bought the Gold upgrade for US$5. Nice and easy. The funny thing is that I could not find it when using Steam off my PC nor when I logged on to the net and did a search for Civilization Gold. I actually had to follow your link to get to it.

          Weird.

          Regards
          Daniel

        • Thanks mate, saved me $5 ! :)

        • Thanks for the upgrade link, didnt seem to show up on the normal searches.

      • Thanks for that!! Purchased the Gold upgrade for $5 Perfect :)

      • Damn it got the GOTY upgrade before gods and kings came out for the same amount… $5 for gods and kings is still cheaper then buying separately though

Great price for one of the best games of all time.

  • Thanks! Been eyeing this for a while. Also used credit on GMG I didn't know I had to save another $2, bargain!

    This deal is gold.

  • +4

The voucher seems to work for other games too. I used it on "LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes" The price went from $7.49 to $6.00

  • Anyone know if the scenarios work in multiplayer?

    • They don't.

  • Guys, I've never played this game before.. but I've heard of it alot

How does it compare to Age of Empires? I thought AOE2 was really good, would I like this?

    • +3

This is a turn-based strategy game which is vastly different from the real-time strategy genre that AoE series belong to. Nevertheless, I've enjoyed both games and I'm sure you will enjoy this too. It's not highly rated by both critics and players for no good reason. I think there's a free demo this weekend for the game so you can trial it out before throwing the dough at it.

  • I used the key on steam and it wasn't the gold edition, can anyone help me with this?

    • Can you see if you click on DLC on the front page you will see a lot of extras which are your 'gold' extras?

      Daniel

    • Right click the game in your steam library and click view downloadable content - it's all there. Also if you check your purchase history you'll see that it's CIV V "Gold". No need to worry!

      • Thank you danielh and jasopan, it's very misleading in my library when it doesn't say gold but everything is there in game :)

Terrible game, not worth $10. Get civ 4

    • They both have their good and bad points and I still enjoy them both as separate games, get both! ;)

  • Seems just like Greed Corp. Similar?

    • +1

I haven't played Greed Corp but going by what I could google up it appears to be a similar and simpler version of Civilization.

      • +1

I'd say Greed Corp is more similar to Advance Wars/Great Little War Game as it doesn't offer the depth of play-ability that Civ offers.

        • +1

So you're saying it's a similar and simpler version of Civilization?

  • +2

I used to play Civ 1 for HOURS and HOURS back in the day in High School (we're talking early-mid 1990's here… :).

Me: Straight home from school onto the computer…
    Mum: 'Dinner's ready!'
Me: Eats dinner, back to inventing gunpowder/rifles before Jesus was born
    …time passes…
Mum: Stop playing the computer, it's midnight!!
    Me: Argh!!!

I stopped playing the series cause it all seemed to get too complicated. Hopefully they've simplified it a bit and got the balance right. Great price!

  • Will this work on the Mac once activated on Steam? The Green Man Gaming page does not mention the Mac version.

    • +1

Yep it's a steamplay game so works just fine in mac (got it from gmg myself and am on mac)

    • Owning the game on steam will allow you to play it on pc or mac.
