      People power FTW.

Ironically true but they can't beat ATI in terms of price since people tend to pick cheaper alternatives

      • +2

It's actually AMD now since ATI no long exists.

Also if you want to buy two of these cards for crossfire I hear AMD is bringing out a crossfire fix driver later in July. Should knock the socks off Nvidia.

        • AMD's crossfire is already much better then Nvidia.

The thing they are fixing is frame pacing, because in many games crossfire makes it feel like the game is running slower then it really is.

      • +1

I'd rather pay a few dollars more than have to deal with AMD's drivers.

        • And were back in 2009 (I'm taking a chance that you do not have crossfire - otherwise your statement is more correct than not, but for a single card - old excuse)

        • I once had an HD 5870 which I was happy with… until I decided to purchase another and try it in CrossFire. What a nightmare. I decided to sell both cards and get an Nvidia instead. Last year I purchased an HD 7970 on launch day and it would have flickering issues running on a 120Hz monitor (others had this issue too). It's probably been fixed by now, but I'm not going to go through the hassle of all this again, so I'm sticking with Nvidia.

      Getting a life FTW.

      Whoa…nerd rage going on here.

      -41 vote really ?????

      • +1

Currently OzBargain generally avoids idiotic comments like: 'AMD Rulz' or 'nVidia FTW' I think people here do not want to encourage such.

  • I wonder if it comes with any game codes?

    • +6

Yes comes with the Never Settle Reloaded promotion! Get a free copy of Crysis 3 and BioShock Infinite with purchase.

        Don't you mean:
        - Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon
        - Crysis 3
        - BioShock Infinite

        • +2

the card they have will be crysis 3 and bioshock, but when you redeem it the code will give unlocks for all three.

PLE has always been great to deal with. Bought my XFX 7970 from them about 2 months ago. The free games are excellent for multiplayer online fun after the epic campaigns (I LOVE Crysis 3). Capable of running Crysis 3 on High on 2560 x 1440 @ 25 fps on 5 years old Q6600 setup.

Just be cautious through about the length of these cards. They are long! So make sure you upgrade your case too to avoid disappointment if you've got a short case.

And go for it! Its well worth the price and you can always crossfire these cards down the road.

i got a 6870 and q6600 that bottlenecked in bf3 every time i turned around it froze for a few seconds and loaded up the game and resumed
as well as choosing spawn locations it froze
updateed to a new 3570k and it works perfect but i now have a gtx680

      • Yeah definitely. Any CPU intensive multi-player games of this generation are a little handful for the old Q6600. I would like a platform upgrade but money is so hard to pile up when there are so many bargain around here! :)

  • These are the dimensions

    10.8" x 4.4" x 1.5"

nearly 11 inches so check your case like mintlin stated above.

This is diffinetly a bargain but every store is clearing up because the 8000 series are just around the corner.

I would actually wait for another up to 2 months to see signficant price drops / benchmarks comparison before i upgrade my 6850 :)

  • Just picked one up. Only 2 left. :)

    • Thanks Mashimus, heaps more in stock @ Wangara and more will be available at Bentley tomorrow :)

  • omg so much want

  • Are the bonus games steam activated, or on DVD?

    • You get a voucher with the Card that you activate.

  • Damn wish this was out a few weeks earlier, I would have gotten 2 of these for a SLI setup instead of my GTX 770

    • You'd be running a CrossfireX setup actually since it's AMD cards. But you have to make sure that your motherboard supports Crossfire.

  • pretty good deal ! regret buying 2 7950s

  • Are these revision 1 (reference) or revision 2 (non-reference)?

    • The cards are Version B.0

      • Thanks for the quick reply, I know from the picture it is 1 dvi slot and 1 dvi in your specification but can you confirm that it is indeed one Dvi as oppose to 2.

Also if it isn't too much trouble is it possible for you to tell me what is the PCB number on these cards.

  • I'm planning a build for October-ish, is it worth buying this GPU now?

    • +1

sure, the next gen 9000-series won't be out until at least Q4/Q1 2014, and while they might be faster, etc. the price/performance will be a lot worse.

Probably $550+ for reference first cards.

  • +1

Not a bad price. But I could have sworn I heard these XFX cards are loud.

    • Yep, bought one and sounded like a rocket-ship under light load. Speedfan is an essential program

I have been looking to get a new card for a long time and this has piqued my interest greatly.

However my problem has always been improvement vs cost, now my GPu is the bottle neck on my machine.
    I Have an Intel i5, 8GB RAM, 120gb SSD and a Radeon 6850 gpu.

I was looking at the 660ti for a while, but found the cost vs benefit seemed still less than I'd like.

So i suppose my question is, is this pretty much the best $ for performance increase i could possibly get, or is another card say the 760 (or something more powerful) going to be my best bet if i can hold off for 6 months or more?

If anyone is kind enough to answer thank you in advance.

    • If you are near a MSY perhaps the 7950 for $308 is a good deal, because you'll still need to pay shipping on the above graphics card. The % you'll pay extra, does not reflect the % of performance you'll get.
      http://www.msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=8724

If you are near Umart, you can get the Power Colour 7950 for $285:
      http://www.umart.com.au/newindex2.phtml?bid=2

They are better bang for buck, I got a big increase going from a 6950 OC to the 7950 from uMart.

      -Edit-
If you wait for a better card 6 months away, you'll always be waiting. Only time it is worth waiting is when one is a month away or so, which one isn't, or so I believe.

  • I'm still rockin' my 5870, I'm hoping to hold out until volcanic islands roll out, should be coming out around the same time as BF4.

    • Likewise, this card is pretty cheap I reckon the new card is coming soon :)

    • Same here. Hoping to pickup a cheap second hand GTX680 or a 7970. Hopefully by then AMD will fix their crossfire latency issues so I can CF the 7970.

  • Awesome price! Just bought one at cockburn store. It did not however come with the games. I looked everywhere in the box (which had been already opened) and did not find any codes.

    • Codes are separate to the box. I bought a card from PLE a few weeks ago and had to remind the guy and he rummaged out back for the code coupon sheet.

      • If PLE are going to advertise it in the description it seems a little strange that you have to remind the employees, otherwise you miss out for the fair assumption that they would include an item that is clearly advertised.

        • Went in and asked about it. Apparently stock is limited on the game codes. Dude was nice enough to sort me out with a code from another store. Great service!

  • Far out, wish I still had time to game I'd have bought this like a shot. Good price for beaut card.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the gigabyte hd9790oc? also 1gb OC - all 3gb - but specifically has better and more fans?

  • Rep, what's the usual turn around time for shipping after paying? I paid via Paypal yesterday, and the status at the moment is: "Being Processed". Was hoping to get it before the weekend. :) Thanks.

    • I would have thought it would be posted off today but then again they may be yet busy packing and sending off all these orders.

If it's sent via Australia Air Express you might get it tomorrow. But PLE is in Perth so it's a long way to get to the eastern states. But probably arrive tomorrow.

    • All the cards are in stock and all orders should go out today.

      • Thanks, got it this morning.
Perth to Sydney in one night, fantastic.
        :)

  • So tempting to buy this and skip the next gen.
