    Best price ever!!!

Even better if can pricematch at OW —> $265.05

    • +2

I couldn't find stock at 4 OWs a few weekends ago when Bing had it for $299.

I'm not even going to bother trying this time. Probably head straight to DSE if I want it. But the iPad mini 2 announcement is so close…

      • OW website says stock available in a number of Melb CBD stores, I'm assuming the suburbs will be the same.

        • All 4 stores I went to either said In Stock or Limited Stock before I went there. The online stock checker is not up to date.

      • Consider waiting for iPad mini 2 if you have $400 or so to spend with. Otherwise this tablet is more affordable at a good price for now.

    • Wonder if you buy in GG today, will they do 120% if you go back on the weekend?

      • i suck at math, so what price will it come down and how does TGG work?

      • I think after the refund at good guys you will be $3.80 better off.

        • I think like the same as OW 5% OFF, isn't it? If that is true that mean 20% off from $279.

          Am I correct?

        • +1

Nope, it's 120% of the DIFFERENCE back. If you paid $100 for something and then saw it for $90 you would get $12 back so effectively pay $88.

        • OK, now they listed for $318, so 318-279=39, 39*120%=46.80, so still very good.

Hope they will not change the price tomorrow to match it and they have stock.

  • +1

No kidding, this is a great price!
Soon enough they'll be even cheaper than the price I paid for the KitKat I won mine with recently.

    • …and my Ice Cream Sandwhich just melted all over my pants.

      • will be a long time before you eclair will see a donut then. let alone a cupcake. ;)

    • ahh guys.. you do realise he is not joking.. Android 4.3 is called Kit Kat, and there is a promo competition where you can win a Google Nexus 7 or Google Play money when you buy and enter the code on the wrapped of a Kit Kat 'biscuit'

      • this kit kat is also only available for purchase from Woolworths

  • Any phones actually good value if you subtract the $100?

    • I'd say that the best value here would be (in no particular order):

      • HTC One
      • Samsung Galaxy S4 Active
      • Sony Xperia Z1

Saying that, you'd probably be able to find them cheaper elsewhere if you look around.

      • HTC one is actually pretty deal at DSE, isnt it?

    • -3

      iPhone 4S 8GB White $529 Unlocked $529

  • Oh was this sent to you via email?

Can't find the offers page on their website? Would be easier to pricematch at OW.

  • +4

Well.. it really isnt "$100 off" since the gift card they give you is a Dick Smith Gift card as opposed to say, an EFTPOS card etc. This means you are pretty much forced to having to respend the $100 at DSE. Unless you have things to get or you want to bundle things up, then the offer isnt exactly that good IMO.

    • DS gift cards can also be used at woolworths group companies? Unless they change it.

      • +2

        Not anymore.

  • none available at OW within 500 kilometres of Brisbane

    • You talking about the Nexus 7? If so, my search doesn't concur.

  • bigw dont stock nexus??

  • DS gift card still can be used in Woolworths?

    • +1

I am getting one this morning. I will let you know.

Edit: I called Woolworths and they said wish cards can be used at DS but not the other way round. I will still give it a go.

      • Interesting… Definitely want to see where this ends up!

        • +2

No, unfortunately my DS gift card did not work at my local Woolworths supermarket.

    • No tried it and wouldn't accept it so for DS only.

      • Thanks for confirming

  • +2
  • is this deal good for the note 3?

  • As soon as I saw the $100 GC with any phone purchase I could see this was going to be a raw deal… so I checked the price of the Phones.. wow, a Samsung S3 for $547.00? I could have got this phone for $412.00 [delivered] a couple of weeks ago from Kogan. Even with the $100 GC its still not a good deal, especially since its not cash where u can spend anywhere u like.

They jack their prices up by $100 and then proclaim to give you a $100 GC. Don't buy into this and do some googling!!

This is so far from a bargain it should be deleted of this thread

    • Agreed. 16GB HTC ONE for 718??? Geez…Harvey Norman is only selling 786 or sth for 64GB!

      • The HTC one is 32gb. The offer also applies to apple phones including the 5c. Where can you get australian stock at effectively $100 off RRP?

        • i wouldn't say it's effectively off RRP, but still a sizable discount if you were willing to purchase at RRP

    • +1

This bargain is for general, like the nexus 7 at 279 is amazing at today's market. Well of course, you can't gonna compare today's market if you gonna purchase in 6 months time…

      • Nah but you can try your luck with a 28degrees card that has had shoppers protection enabled..

    • Can't compare grey import with Aus stock.

  • This is a great price on the new nexus …. Juicy plus from me… Until a few moments ago I had no incentive to upgrade… Now … I do.

  • Hmm nexus 7 2nd gen now or wait for the price drop when the new Ipad comes out on the 22nd…

    • Wait and compare. Nexus 7 will only drop in price not up

      • It's already sold at a loss though. There's only so much lower it can go.

  • dammit its not within 60 days for my TRS claim!

    • +3

Please show us all where you can buy Australian nexus 7 (2013) stock from a b&m store for less than 279.

    • +1

Where can you find it $15 - $20 cheaper?

    • TilacVIP….what are you on about?

      • on drugs i think.

    • At the $300+ price, Google is making a loss on it.

      Get a clue.

  • I started liking the Samsung 8 inch devices. Would you still go for this one instead? Screen resolution is better but 7 inch instead of 8. Is the processor blowing away the Tab 8 or Note 8?

    • resolution is the KING!

    • You might wanna check this, but apparently the new nexus 7 completely destroys the tab 3s in terms of processing. I can't back this up off the top of my head but I'm pretty sure that was what I had been reading.
Resolution on n7 is ridiculously good too, as noted already.

    • 1280x800 TFT vs 1920x1200 IPS.

      1.5GB RAM vs 2GB.

Dual core CPU vs Quad core.

If the prices are anywhere near comparable, the Nexus blows the Tab out of the water.

  • Finally an even better deal than Bing Lee.

    In store or online only?

  • point and shoot looks interesting too…

Wait for the iPad release rumours on the 22nd of Oct.

If the mini has a retina screen, buy apple! :P

  • -7

@krim, did I say anywhere that at the moment it can be bought for less than $279.00.. read my comment again

@mastablasta, again read my comment. I am saying this deal [Asus Nexus @ 279.00] is only $15 - $20 cheaper than other place.. so it would definitely suit someone who was after this particular model and was planning on buying this weekend.. however I wouldn't call it a bargain @ 279.00

    • +3

Could you kindly post a deal of some sort so that we can understand what your definition of a bargain is? I'll keep an eye out for it.

      • -7

My definition of a bargain is when I am mildy interested in a product but the price it too good to resist and the temptation doesn't hold me back. Everyone I guess has their own theory what a bargain is to them and their needs/wants. If people think its a bargain, good for them, their money,go ahead and buy, I am just giving my opinion on what is and was is not. Isn't it the reason why we come here, to actually get a bargain? The Asus Nexus at $279.00 is not a bargain in my opinion, its a good price for a 7in Tablet that in 2 weeks time a very good chance it may be had for less.

Can anyone actually call DSE selling the Samsung S4 for $698 and then giving you a $100 GC card a bargain, when the same phone can be bought for $547.00 from Kogan. Great marketing, but far from a bargain.

        • +2

Here's a thought… go found your own bargain site. Call it "OzREALbargain" or something, so you can decide which deals pass your high personal standards and earn a seal of approval. Here, users decide what does or doesn't constitute a bargain by popular vote and friendo? you're not doing yourself any favours.

        • So your definition of a bargain is a price that would make you buy something you weren't planning on buying. If you were already planning on buying it, then it's not a bargain even if it's the lowest price going around.

          Have I got that right?

Can you post a bargain for this product? Because I don't think one exists. Which means for someone who actually wants one of these, and isn't looking to for someone else to force their hand, this won't cut it. They should pass on this.

BTW, your S4 example is not apples for apples comparison. DSE is selling Australian stock, not grey imports. If you're going to compare DSE's price you have to compare it to another retailer selling local stock, not Kogan.

The ball is in your court.

        • He's been a member for only 2 weeks. That should explain a few things.

        • This is silly, it doesn't matter if it's a good price for you or not, if it's a good price, it's still a good price and for some people out there, that's what they are looking for.

  • The Galaxy Express is actually cheaper $298 for Aus Stock after $100 gift card.

  • +1

My advice on the nexus 7 would be to go to JB Hifi, ask them to beat it and then ask for an invoice at that price, then take that to Officeworks and ask them to beat that price

    • JB's cost price is ~$283. Will be a tough bargain getting them to go lower than that.

      • +2

Bulls… Never believe the cost price shown in JB's system.

        • Sharp you have a point.

Retailers often receive rebates on stock sold. Depending what the product and the deal with the supplier, a retailer may sell at what appears to be cost yet still come out ahead.

      • I bought 2 at $275 each, two weeks ago.

    • M8

We shall wait for u to commit then pls load receipt and all will jump on the wagon after!

  • Does the Woolworths staff card still work at DSE?

    • Yes

  • +2

So much hate from previous dick smith deals has been forgotten. Despite all the fuss they raise, people's loyalty is ultimately to their wallet. Just saying.

  • +1

I personally think apple computer is a good deal if you have a 28 degree card. People see what I mean?

  • OW have just lowered their price on the Nexus. No more 5% discount :(

    • Hi its just gone back up to 318 @ OW

      • Yeah, you're right. I wonder if that was just damage control before they could send memos to the stores. It may well end up back at $279 once the discounts at Dick Smith hit tomorrow..

  • OW has it listed as $279 now.

  • +1

Anyone successful got nexus 7 at dse today? With enough stock?

    • Yeah at their head office showroom in Chullora NSW. Only 1 in stock by the looks of it.

  • Ahhh tempted was waiting for the nexus 5 but………….what the hell just got one.

  • I paid $312 at GG yesterday. Went back to get the 120% difference back today. The guy somehow worked out that $33 ($312-$279) multiplied by 1.2 (120%) was $79.80. So the tablet cost me $232.20.

    • Either you or the person processed the refund calculated the price difference poorly.. Or maybe both?

    • Which tgg? I hope the person did not get fired.

  • No such deal shown at Hornsby. It's this really store wide?

  • The title is misleading as I thought you got a $100 game cube with your purchase :(

    • I would jump in if they gave a Dreamcast.
