I have the A550, actually using it now to type. Great TV, got it for $2300 in September.

Awesome picture especially FullHD material, awesome polished black look, good remote.

The very minor issues I have with it:
Plasma makes buzz from the when displaying brights (this webpage for example). The buzz reflects off my wall behind but can easily be dampened with wall dampener, pillows, or curtains.

PIP doesn’t allow you to swap the sound for the other picture.

Reflective screen, not suitable for bring rooms but looks better than LCD in dark environments.

This is a good TV, one of the ‘premium’ range units. It is obsolete now, but the new models only have 1 year warranty and come with marginal improvements.

With that said you can easily get a Panasonic TH50PZ80A for much less. Even the new G series Panasonic’s won’t be much more expensive, but they are a much better picture.

For $2600 it’s not a bad deal, but not ground breaking. Tomorrow COTD have a huge Samsung LCD sale, you should definitely wait for them.

Specs look nice, Samsung do pretty good LCD’s and Plasmas.

LA46A650 $2099

Well that 52A650 is an absolute bargain. 3 year warranty too. Even the 46A650 is so tempting..

I picked this tv up in Brisbane at the Good Guys for $2300 back in Jan. So they should be able to go for less now.

Good deal , even better than the one I put on the forums 10 days ago (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/11908 ) , much more accessable - mine was pretty well Perth only.

Probably the best plasma available today , certainly better than existing pana models but I havent seen new models from Pana or Samsung yet.

Apart from power issues and potential burning I dont see why you would get the samsung lcd over the plasma.

Hey guys… I have been awaiting the special at COTD.. But have read some pretty disturbing feedback…
http://blog.ozbargain.com.au/2006/catch-of-the-day/

I would love to buy one of their TV’s for their prices but I am very cautious after reading some of the feedback…

I have bought many things from them and have had no problems at all. I bought the 22 inch monitor 2 weeks ago, and it arrived 2 days later. The comments were also made in 2006.

I bought a Toshiba HD STB from COTD a year ago and it was partially faulty on arrival. The On/Off seems to have a mind of its own in that it works intermittently. The factory box was quite worn too. It was supposed to come with 12 months warranty but Toshiba wouldn’t cover it coz COTD is not a valid store so I gave up pursuing them knowning it’ll be a waste of my time.
