you can download it for free till 8th Aug 2009. the pdfs can be used later to read.

when you search for a pdf it shows you an small pdf link. You need to click on it to download. please let me know where it is asking to pay?

The site’s a bit confusing but I found this quote. I understand it to mean everything on there’s free at the moment and they’ll later charge a subscription.

“Our goal is to provide Free public access for a month to 2 Million eBooks. During the rest of the year you may continue to download your selection of about 500,000 PDF eBooks by joining the World Public Library. Annual membership is only $8.95 per year.”

From what I can tell, you don’t need to join to get anything. I just browsed, clicked a few random books and a download link popped up.
Now to see if anything actually looks any good!
