I'm a physio and found the Tiniest TENS machine you can find on the maket. Relieves pain.
Hi all,
I am a physiotherapist, and recently my Mum wanted a TENS machine. They are the things you hook yourself up to, and it helps ease chronic or acute pain.
Problem with TENS machines, usually they are big, complicated to work, and expensive.
Thus I embarked on a mission to find a good one for my Mum, and we are now stocking these in our clinic too.
I found a BRILLIANT little unit. It is tiny infact. 5cm x 3cm x 2cm. Weighs only 18 grams, as opposed to the 250g machine we have in the clinic.
Name of range is the PAINEZE. The have models called PainEze PLus, PainEZE EXTRA, and a sports madel called Sportsmed.
If anyone wants a TENS machine, I wholeheartedly recommend this brand.
We sell them in the clinic for:
PainEze Plus: $109
PainEze Extra: $139
You might be able to find them online somewhere a bit cheaper, but if not and you want one, feel free to email me at my ebay address at ebay@undiesdownunder.com
If you need any advice happy to answer quewstions too. Se ya!
Hi there,
The best thing about this machine is the tiny size. It fits into a pocket v’s the other ones that you need to clip onto a belt. 18g v’s 250g makes a difference given that if you clip a big one onto your belt, the weight is on one side which is not good for your back. Some people like to wear them all day, so tiny is best. This is the main reason I chose this one for my Mum.
These are great for general back pain. Basically stick the electrodes where it hurts and turn it on. Basic model is probably all that’s needed for general aches and pains. I bought the “extra” model for my Mum, but she only uses the “plus” program on it anyway, so she could have had the cheaper one in the end. Here are some pics which I just copied onto my photobucket site;

I have typed up some general info for you about TENS machines and why I picked this little one for my Mum. Honestly, all TENS machines are pretty much created equal. However most are too complicated for patients to use, as they have to bother with frequencies etc on a digital read out. This one is easy and tiny.
If you do end up wanting one just email me and I will order one for you. My home email address is my ebay one ebay@undiesdownunder.com
Or any questions, just ask!
TENS works in 2 different ways;
1) Gating - Used for acute pain. Works quickly, but pain relief doesn’t last too long after the machine is switched off. You might use this after surgery, or straight after you strain your back or break your arm.
2) Sustained - This is used for more Chronic pain, and works by releasing endorphins. It takes about 30 mins for the endorphins to be released and kick in, but once you turn the machine off, the pain relief can last for 12-48 hours. This setting is not as comfortable as other settings though. Some users (like my Mum) don’t really like this setting on its own.
Why the PainEze brand?
It’s simple to use. They have a single setting -PainEze PlusT- that combines the benefits of the gating and sustained. So you only have to push 1 button, and you get the gating effect followed by the endorphin release. Best of both worlds, and the setting is really comfortable.
What is the difference between the models?
PainEze Plus
Has only 1 setting, so you only have to turn it on and off. The setting combines both gating and sustained for the best of both worlds. This setting will work for everyone, and works on acute and chronic pain. Has PainEze PlusT setting only.
PainEze Extra
This machine has 3 settings;
1) PainEze PlusT setting
2) Gating setting
3) Sustained setting
So it is exactly the same as the PainEze plus machine with 2 extra settings added on for you to choose from.
Which should you choose?
For most people, the PainEze Plus is all that you will need. If you buy the PainEze Extra, it is likley that you will only use the PainEze PlusT setting anyway. The reason you will likley just use the PainEze PlusT setting, is that it is comfortable and will provide pain control.
That said, the EXTRA model, provides more choice of settings, and is still very easy to use. Technically, the sustained mode will give you a longer lasting relief from pain, but will you be able to tolerate the feeling of the sustained mode? If you can, then this machine would be better for you.
Which model would I choose?
1) If money is an issue, go for the PainEze Plus. Most people will probably only use the PainEze PlusT setting anyway.
2) If the extra $30 is not a problem, I guess go for the PainEze Extra. You will probably only use the PainEze PlusT setting, but the others are there for you to try and if you can tolerate the sustained mode you might get a longer lasting effect.
3) Both models are the same size and weight. Both are TINY.
Why do I recommend PainEze TENS machines?
1) The biggest reason - SIZE. These are tiny
2) Easy to use - no complicated knobs or digital readouts for you to cope with.
3) Brilliant results - same results as you wold get using a complicated machine in the physio clinic.
4) Cheap. Do the same job as an expensive machine.
When is the PainEze TENS not what I need?
1) PainEze TENS machines only have 1 channel. So you can only treat one area at a time. If you want to treat 2 areas, you will need to treat them one after the other. In order to have the smallest machine around, I think this is a small sacrifice.
2) Muscle stimulation - if you want muscles to contract and be built up ( ie after surgery), then neither of these TENS machine are for you. You would need the SPORTSMED Micro which looks the same and is the same size, but is a TENS machine and muscle stimulator in one. Not too much more expensive than the PainEze Extra.
YOU SHOULD NOT USE THIS TENS MACHINE IF
- The source of your pain has not been diagnosed by a doctor and /or health professional
- You are pregnant
- You have a pacemaker
- You have a metallic implant

Thanks for your recommendation. I am interested for my Mum as well. Is this suitable for general back pain, or is it for more specific type of ailments? I also don’t understand the benefit of having a ultra-light unit, 250g is not that heavy right? Would it be possible to provide links to more information about these TENS machine (first time I’ve heard of them) and the differences between the models?
Thanks for your help.
