Thanks for sharing. But is the bike any good though? If it’s like one of those $99 K-mart bike that’s difficult to ride and reputedly falls apart after a year or so, maybe better off spending the $60 elsewhere…

Bike details doesn’t say much…

Well looks like a good company behind the bike, RepcoSport, its also part of Pacific Brands.

I’m thinking of getting one to start riding. But it says on the page that it’ll take up to 90 days for the bike to come so probably won’t be able to review it!

Details I found from the FAQ section:

Q. What are the bike specifications?
A.The promotional bike is a Repco 26” Adult MTB, Black Gloss - YS728, Steel frame, alloy wheel rims, 18 Speed Shimano Rear derailleur and thumb shifters with front suspension fork, front and rear ‘V’ brakes and kick stand. Complies with Australian Standard – AS/NZS 1927:1998. The bike is only available in black and men’s only frame style. Valued at RPP $169.95.

I haven’t been able to find anymore details. The YS728 refers to the black gloss colour (I did a Google search). Closest thing I’ve found was a BigW page but the specs aren’t exactly the same. BigW was selling it for $168.

is it a type of competition ??

Not really — depending on how scarce those “4 unique code” are. Initially I thought you are qualified to get the bike for $50 after eating 4 Subway meals. Then I noticed the unique code requirement. They might limit one particular code so it effectively becomes a competition…

No, Scotty:

Its a promotion not a competition. Everybody who completes the requirements ARE GUARANTEED TO RECEIVE A BIKE.

Q. Is this the only bike available?
A.There are 315,000 Repco Bikes available. Repco bike is available in the one size and model only. If for any reason the promotional bike stock runs out orders will be substituted with a generic Repco Bike of equal RRP value.

There are 1,260,000 promotional scratch cards produced. Each promotional scratch card has 1 unique code, which can only be used once.

Thanks for the info mate.

Although if all the scratch cards are unique, why did Subway specifically want 4 unique game cards. Wouldn’t it make more sense for them to produce normal game card without unique codes and just ask for 4 game cards?

Yeah. It does not make sense to me. Oh maybe it is just marketing to make you “feel good” about getting 4 unique cards, although it is impossible to get identical cards. Hmm.

They want to make sure that every claim is associated with four separate purchases. The easiest way to do this is with unique codes, as they can only be used once. So database is kept of what codes have and have not been used. Also, unique codes can be verified online without having to send anything in to claim the bike.

That answer your question? Make sense?

Fair enough, I overlooked the fact that you didn’t have to send the game cards over, you can just enter the unique codes online.

It’s certainly a good deal, if I eat 4 Subways from now until December, I’d probably buy the bike for $60.

There must be some catch…
Wonder how many bike they actually send out.

No! It’s a genuine deal. They would send out bikes to everybody who complete all the requirements. Remember Subway and Coca-Cola are reputable companies! Plus you also get an invoice once your credit card is charged. Proof! :)

Guess what, I bought one meal today and they gave me six of those tokens. That was easy! :D
