There's lots of other stuff that it's great to get 10% off.

Surely you already have an iPad if you really wanted one, after the numerous deals this year?

    • I'm an idiot

  • looks like its going to be another gift card frenzy https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/146066

  • So other gift cards are included? Do they sell Myer, DJ or DSE?

    • I got Myer and DJ at the last sale

      • +1

Looking forward to the giftcards :)

      • Do they have Visa or MC prepaid giftcards?

        • They do but won't work. Tried it last time.

      • +2

Supercheap Auto is great for oil, they are bang on market price for that!

  • Thanks!! Shame I have work D:

  • +2

Need to start topping up my ING for this deal.

  • Do bigw sell BBQ's

  • Wondering if I can buy Optus recharge vouchers at 10% off

    • +6
  • can you buy loadable pre paid visa at big w?
might be a way to get free money???

    • +1

I don't know if Big W have them but my understanding is that there is a surcharge which might be worth more than the free money.

    • +4

You'd only get the discount on the $3.95 service fee, if at all. The balance is a cash deposit, and therefore not a "sale" in the normal sense.

  • +5

So all I need to do is print it off to scale and the bar code will work?

    • +3

if the bar code doesn't scan, entering the bar code numbers should work

      • -1

Okay. Not sure why I was down voted for asking a construction question.

        • +9

dunno. people also get downvoted for saying thanks shrug

        • +1

          Constructive?

    • Hi, Do you still have the old barcode ? can you share it. Or anyone who has the old flyer and care to share, much appreciated. Thanks.

      • The link for this deal is the old flyer.

        • -2

Nope, it's the new one. T and c states cards excluded.

        • @nzthunderboy: Looking again at the deal link it says

…& cigarettes cartons and packets, all Wish Gift Cards and all Woolworths Limited Gift Cards including BIG W…

          whereas the new flyer says

…& cigarettes cartons and packets, all Gift Cards, all Wish Gift Cards and all Woolworths Limited Gift Cards including BIG W…

        • -1

          @awoff1:

Read again in the flyer. It clearly states cards are excluded. I took this to store and had a good argument.
Also the have one barcode which is exactly the same one as this and it doesnt like the discount for gift cards.

        • @nzthunderboy: Well looking at the revisions, it shows that the URL hasn't changed at all, so this is the 'old flyer'.

The old flyer only specifies certain gift cards being excluded eg, Wish Gift Cards, BIG W, Woolworths, and Masters Gift Cards etc.

It does not specify any of the giftcards in the list by heal eg. Myer, David Jones, JB Hi-Fi, Supercheap Auto etc.

The added clause of "all Gift Cards" now means all gift cards are excluded…..

I can't really help if you've been unsuccessful in getting gift cards, you can only try your luck with the old flyer, some have been able to purchase gift cards.

        • Sale would be ended with closed shops?

Whilst I did not go to either I noticed last time ran a day longer; could have been better. ..I figure with discussions exposed now, that really core deals ie westfield cards would disappear very quickly. At best - chatter flows in to lock-in-w' Myers/DJ will be led by a-flakey..1/10. \o/

  • thanks..

    edit: what did i do?

    • +27

      No idea!
The last 296 times you've simply said "thanks.." nobody batted an eyelid

    • -5

No need to say thanks on every single ozb post

      • +4

but it's not against the rules, is it? just like it isn't against the rules for me to drool every time i see you post on here :P~~~

it's probably annoying, but if it bothers people that much then they need to stroke more eneloops

      • +2

i don't get it. why not say "thanks.." or "thanks" to show appreciation for the OP's time and effort in finding and posting deals?

        • +5

How many thousands of people are on OzBargain? Do you want them all to say thanks? Give it a + vote if you think it's a good deal, that's the way I say thanks without pissing people off.

    • +1

      Spamming.

      • +2

i spam a lot in real life as well..i.e being grateful..

  • +1

Just be wary they might give you some poor excuses not to sell gift cards. Last time I dealt with them I had to go back and fro and only to be honoured when I threatened to bring it to the consumer affairs for the misleading advertising.

  • +3

They remembered this time to include the condition on the form that you can't use the discount coupon and scan an Everyday Rewards card. I managed last time to get my QFF points credited manually because they changed the terms and conditions of the offer after they sent the flyer.

One of the good things about this deal is that it doesn't have a minimum spend.

  • +6

So it should stack with the toy catalogue… xbox one bundle $478,

    10% off = $430.20.

buy $400 gift card from RACV (maybe you can buy the exact denomination, not sure) for $380,

    buy bundle with card + $30.20 cash, = $410.20

    • I noticed this too. Amazing aint it?

    • +3

all the good deals everywhere except JBHIFI who I just so happen to be stuck with $170 of gift cards..

      • can still get good deals on games with the jb hifi NOW 20% discount

      • +2

Why are you stuck with the gift card? So say I buy $450 worth of JB Hifi gift card, can I use that to buy an IPAD?

    • I bought the xbox bundle but then returned it after finding out Microsoft have a much better deal in place.

  • +1

Good price for Sunset Overdrive for Xbox one catalogue price is $68, so should be around $61.20 after discount

  • can you combine with staff discount?

    • Usually not as these are staff and friends discounts, so are inclusive of the 5%

  • Has anyone used Wish(Woolworths)Gift cards to buy non-Woolworths gift cards?

    • -1

why would it matter how you pay ?

      • Because at most stores you can't use gift cards to buy gift cards.

    • +1

Yes, all the time. Self checkout to minimise the possibility of problems - the machines don't seem to have any issue with it.

  • I remember seeing some thread "somewhere" about being charged as a cash advance when you buy a gift card with a credit card. Does anyone know if this is in fact true at Big W using an AMEX?

    • +1

I think it only relates to purchase with credit cards issued by GE Money

      • +1

Going off of that, it's to stop The GO Mastercard users from buying over $250 worth of gift cards and getting it 6 months interest free.

  • Is Big W not selling consoles anymore online? I typed in XBOX, only the controller show up.

    • +1

They've only got a fraction of their products online. They sell in store

  • I'm getting the xbox one bundle for $431 this Saturday, plus a few Christmas presents.

    • +2

I just noticed that the Big W Toy Catalogue is missing some pages, including the page containing the xbox one bundle. Can someone confirm this or am I going crazy?

      • I remember seeing the games page when it was first posted but i can't find it any more!

      • +1

I noticed that as well, it had a lot more pages earlier in the week. However, if you search by category, the Xbox One and PS4 specials are still listed.

        • Awesome! Found it here

    • -1

why not get the ps4 deal?

      • +1

because the Xbox is better value?

  • anyone sell steam gift cards or spotify gift cards?

    • I think EB Games might be the only place that sell Steam gift cards. I know both of my local Woolies sell Spotify cards so BigW may well do too. Just call your local to confirm

  • 1 thing i would like to know, will these gift cards be extreme hard to find on that day? i plan to wait before they open…

  • Is it possible to scan the barcode directly from your smart phone is you save the PDF flyer?

    • yeah I have done this before, also as someone mentioned above the number is enough too (staff can manually enter it)

    • nope, laser barcode scanners can't see it

edit: led scanners can, laser ones can't. depends on the shop

    • You can type the bar code in

  • -1

Does anyone have a flyer with higher resolution or point me to where I can find them (online or in-store)? Thanks!

  • Anyone know if the DJ and Myer cards have an expiry date?

    • 1 year I believe.

    • +1

      Myers usually have 2 yrs

  • +3

They will hide all the other gift cards that is not listed in the exclusions like they did last time.
I went to Big W Doncaster on the night before the sale went on not realising that it was too early, they had different gift cards from all companies. The next day when I went there again, they were all gone missing.
    Disgusting.

    • +13

Go 2 days before, get the giftcards you want and hide them at the back of the men's underwear section. Go there on the day, get them and scan!

      • +5

        OzBargain approved stash zone lol

      • +14

I went to the undies section last night and there already was a huge stash of gift cards. Someone beat me to it.

      • +2

im so doing this ;) but in a section no one would ever look ;)

        • +4

No we need to keep the hidden place standard. We don't want to hide the cards from each other, just the Big W staff.

      • Will this work if i hide them in the women's bra section?

  • anyone know if you can take gift cards from woolies and activate them at bigw POS?

last time all the giftcards were mostly sold out

    • Depends on which POS you're referring to.

    • +1

The moronic staff at woolies would probably report you for shoplifting though

  • so i can use wish gift card to buy jb gift card?

  • Does anyone know if JB is going to have a 20% DVD sale soon? I've been holding off for so long…

    • +1

Register for JBHiFi now and they will give you a 20% off coupon for a purchase up to $100 (so $100 costs you more). If you need more, print off multiple coupons and go to different stores or different days. I think they generate a new bar code every week or so. If you need more, create another JBHiFi now account and get another coupon.

  • Does anyone know if theres any limit to amount when buying JB Hifi gift card? and can I use that gift card to purchase an IPAD? Thanks

    • Did this exact thing last time, also I got JB to price match the big w price (showing catalogue) which was cheaper by $20. Had no issues other than the big W lady having to type every gift card in manually as the scanner wasn't working…

  • +3

Looking at a new 5k Retina iMac from JB Hi Fi. $3000 retail.

Purchase $2700 worth of Woolies Wish Cards from RACQ for $2565 .

Go to Big W and buy $3000 worth of JB Hi Fi Vouchers for $2700 using the Woolies Gift Cards.

I end up with a $3000 Apple iMac for an outlay of $2565 .

Oh and dont forget the 2565 QF Frequent Flyer Points accrued on the Visa Card.
