Thank you for your info. In this case, we will offer the same shipping rate as 1salesday offers.
Btw. i can’t find pickup option in their website. This means buying from us you can save $9.95 by picking it up. :D

And we are adding HDMI cable as option now. 1m HDMI cable for $3.99 and 2m for $5.49.

I suspect the cost of air fare would outweigh the benefits, but good on you for upgrading the deal. Gets a + from me :)

The Astones look quite good. Two features I need in a media player are
1. to be able to select files for playing by clicking on a thumb image of the DVD cover art and
2. to use menus in ripped DVD files.

This is so my kids who are too young to read can use it. Does the Astone offer these features?

If not does anybody know of any player that does?!

Thanks!

Hi skysurfer there is a model you may be interested.
Astone AP-360T. This is a recordable media player which can record DVB TV and Analog Video Record: NTSC/PA. But you may need use an dvd player as output source to record the DVD into media player.

How this compare to WD TV?

Gravatar
0 vote
[Rep] iibuy on 27/11/2009 - 09:53 ¶

File Formats Supported by WD TV
-> Music - MP3, WMA, OGG, WAV/PCM/LPCM, AAC, FLAC, Dolby Digital, AIF/AIFF, MKA
-> Photo - JPEG, GIF, TIF/TIFF, BMP, PNG
-> Video -MPEG1/2/4, WMV9, AVI (MPEG4, Xvid, AVC), H.264, MKV, MOV (MPEG4, H.264), MTS, TP, TS
-> Playlist - PLS, M3U, WPL
-> Subtitle -SRT (UTF-8), SMI, SUB, ASS, SSA

AP-110D supports more Video and Audio formats. e.g. FLV(flash video, means u can watch download youtube flash video on you HDD, special software required), REAL Video and Audio, DTS Surround Sound.
AP-110D supports network access to NAS, pc shared folders, etc. But WD TV doesn’t support.
And AP-110D has a more functional remote controller.

The new WD TV Live does support network access:
http://www.wdc.com/en/products/Products.asp?DriveID=735

I’d still get the AP-110D though if I were you, Excite.

I jumped in too early and bought the MNP-101. has the same chipset as the AP-100, but seems to have less frequent firmware updates, and not as good a GUI. and cost me over $150. still a great little unit though.

Hm…can we get free shipping? I will buy it directly :) I just don’t want to create another account because I have account with 1saleaday already. Please let me know. thanks

Edit: What is the ethernet speed? 100 or 1000?

[Rep] iibuy on 27/11/2009 - 10:24 ¶

Hi surat, this price is already running under cost. I’m sorry that we couldn’t offer free shipping on this model.

And there is no information on official Astone website about lan speed. So I presume this unit only supports 100Mbps.

Yes, double check with support 100mbps. Thanks

Thanks guys for the info, I noticed that there is another model AP-300, probably with more specs, wondering if it is worth paying a few more bucks for AP-300?

Gravatar

1 salem on 27/11/2009 - 10:35 ¶

Main difference seems to be the AP-300 can hold a hard drive internally.

Where are all the files you want to be playing? if they’re on a server/NAS/external HDD/USB stick, then the 300’s extra feature won’t be useful.

Gravatar

[Rep] iibuy on 27/11/2009 - 10:35 ¶

AP-300 has similar specs as AP-110D.
The only differece is AP-300 has 3.5 inch SATA HDD slots built in.

timhn on 27/11/2009 - 10:50 ¶

The AP-300 has 1x Y/Pb/Pr component out for those who need connect to older display unit/projector/TV.

AP110D has YPbPr output as well.

1 salem on 27/11/2009 - 10:56 ¶

The AP-110D also has that. It has a special little minijack plug, with a special cable that plugs in and splits out into three RCA cables. you can see the little port on the picture of the pack of the unit on the iibuy link.

Can you pls add the Astone wireless N dongle as additional option? As I think most people would like to have that together since this has an option for wireless.

The spec of astone wireless dongle is pretty much no different to others. We will tested it later to see if it is compatiable to othe wireless dongles.

I have tested most of them, didn’t work and I have to purposely the Astone brand. If you check on most forum, you will see most of them are not compatible.

nice! 2 general questions: *) do these units run hot during ‘normal use’ e.g. 2 hours playing a 1080 file and *) can anyone offer comment from experience using this versus the WD TV Live’s user interface?

Gravatar
0 vote
leolapin on 27/11/2009 - 13:28 ¶

If the 110D has the same interface as the AP300, then I’ll say that it’s not as fancy as the WD but definitely one of the better ones out there. The interface offers a preview screen with is very quick as you scroll down the list of media files.

iibuy, i’m trying to order the 110D and a white Astone USB 2.5 case. There seems to be another charge of $20.59 for delivery and handling. Is that correct?

Gravatar

[Rep] iibuy on 27/11/2009 - 14:35 ¶

Astone USB 2.5 Case is not flat or free shipping item. So the shipping cost is calculated by the weight and the area you put in.

This will create large amount of back orders. So the best way is check this item regularly, or place an order by phone and state you wish to wait for re-stock.

The new firmware suppose to have fixed it.

Check: http://www.astone.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=515

If you have a Sony TV, then you will most likely need a firmware upgrade.
