Based on the spec it doesn't seem like such a good deal, especially once you add in a monitor.
Compare it to this Dell deal for $899 (less 7% cashback through moneybackco?):
http://configure.ap.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=au&cs=a...- includes 23" monitor
- faster CPU
- twice as much memory (4GB)
- larger (500 GB) and faster hard drive (7200rpm).
- 1 year on-site warranty

The studio hybrid can't be compared directly, because its designed to be low power and compact, hence the use of a laptop CPU and laptop hard drive. Alot of people leave pcs on 24/7 now (eg a home media server) and need a low power option.
+3 votesDespite the temperatures, the Studio Hybrid excels at using very little power. At idle, the system only consumed between 27 and 30 Watts of electricity.

I dont think you can compare it to a desktop. Also you can use the XPS 8% discount.
inherentchoice on 12/12/2009 - 09:51 ¶I'm not sure what's up with these compact 'desktop' pcs. I would've thought it's much better to go for a small form factor or low profile desktop, or just get a laptop.

You can actually get it for $459.40 if you customise and select
"I don’t need help while operating or getting started with my PC [subtract $39.60]"
And I'm guessing with the moneyback co, it'll get it down to $426.87?
:D
BTW, it's probably worth changing the title, it's a little confusing to say save $500, rather than saying what the price is (e.g $500) or $459.40/$426.87 as per above.
