Anyone used Priceline before? I just read through this: http://www.consumeraffairs.com/travel/priceline.html

    • Plenty of comments on the LAX deal of people having used it and having good experiences.

    • Used them to book MEL <-> AKL last year, no problems. Like anything else, ensure you read the fine print and understand it before you do book.

    • I know that priceline owns booking.com so you know they are legit.

    • +1

The Priceline Group [NASDAQ: PCLN], is a provider of online travel & related services to consumers and local partners in over 200 countries through six primary brands: Booking.com, priceline.com, agoda.com, KAYAK, rentalcars.com and OpenTable. Collectively The Priceline Group operates in over 200 countries and territories in Europe, North America, South America, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East and Africa in over 40 languages.

    • +1

I'd trust anything support by Denny Crane.

    • Priceline is a very well-known travel site in the US. No worries using them.

  • The prices are double if you book through emirates?

If booked through Priceline would you be eligible for the Dubai connect where they supply accommodation for long layover?

    • +1

Even if you aren't eligible, pretty sure even half of the money you save vs booking direct would stump for a 5 star hotel for a night.

    Today is.. OzBargainTravelDay..

  • +1

Edit: Nevermind - second set of dates came up at $551 which is close enough.

I just put in some random dates in October to Maldives and it returned $1,776.30pp. What dates did you use to get the A$530?

  • Can you provide any more details? From which location? To which Maldives airport?

    Thanks

    • +4

Didn't think there was room for more than one international airport in this island country. :)

      • To be honest, I had no idea either until I went looking.. They have 4 international airports.

        https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_airports_in_the_Maldiv…

        • Yes, but if you click on the 3 airports other than Hulhulé (Malé) you'll see they are located on small islands that in no way can support more than a trickle of traffic. All the majors go to Malé. The others are probably listed because there is a customs official there and you are rich enough to arrive by private plane.

When I check for October & February, I'm getting $1400 for Emirates.
What dates you guys are checking?

    • +1

      See my comment below

  • Don't forget its USA $, if you change it to Canadian dollars its close enough to what it will cost in AUS dollars

Don't like the search system, you need to put exact dates, should be more of a open field search over a larger range of dates

The website is getting bombarded by aussie surfers :-)

  • During Feb you can get 555$ PP BUT the hotels during this period are alot more expensive also so might negate the savings for the flights.

    • Maybe they can discover AirBnB

  • beware it only takes $ US and $ Canadian, they are good deals but converting rate will be killing.

  • +3

Trust me, even at full price the flights will be the cheapest part of your trip.

  • +2

post screenshots next time as proof please, this is quite a fruitless exercise as the prices are over $1k when I checked for Oct, Nov and Feb.

    • Same when I search dates it comes up over 1k aswell. Best I could find was about $855 USD return.

  • +1

Which reminds me, you had better not have any anti-semantic (sic) views if you want to visit. This was on their JP visa page, and is still there as of today:

    Refusal of Entry

Any visitor arriving in the Maldives maybe refused entry, if the Immigration officer during questioning or interviewing the passenger

    Have reasonable grounds (not necessarily solid proof) that the person is carrying fraudulent travel documents;
    Suspects the apparent intention to the possible disruption of harmony and unlawful activities;
    Has strong anti-semantic religious or political views;

Pro Tip: Keep them to yourself when entering country.

    • +2

I think some negger doesn't know the difference between semitic and semantic, like the person who wrote up the web page. :)

    • +2

      French are highly anti-semantic =D

      • +3

But very much in favour of semiotics.

I just searched for 10th Nov Sydney to delhi and return is 30th Nov.

The price coming is 461$Even in US $ its far cheap. I am not sure If this site is really genuine.

      • I always used to book with Priceline when living in Canada. Great prices on hotels and airfares, and never had a single problem with my bookings.

    • What they do is buy seats in bulk (Like hotel booking sites buy rooms in bulk).
When they realise they're not selling their allocated setas, they whack 'em on sale to offload them.
They also buy quotas off partner airlines who need to dump their seats.
Thats why you can get cheap deals on Qantas from expedia Ireland & Brazil, as their local Qantas partner airline want to shift their allocated seats, which they haven't been able to sell.

      Weird, but legit.

  • This site looks too good to be true. Emirates have over $1000 on their site, so looks a pricing mistake

I think I know what's going on. Probably the fares are being re-aligned with the surcharge (surcharge component moved into fares), with the surcharge updated (to lower or none) and the old fares still lingering (until end of today).

  • $852 from Syd-Maa for Dep Feb 5th return on 13th Feb (Orbitz), $1,100 on flight network & $850 on Skyscanner. Did I miss it! :(
Those days + or - 1, do you think someone can find me something like $450?
    Cheers !

    • +1

try on http://www.flightnetwork.com , also try different dates

      • Got a 598.21 flight that lasts for 38.5hrs & 41.5hrs. That's a massive waiting time! Maybe that's the lowest it will go. Now I have to decide if 2 days of my life are worth $250 lol… :D
        Ta mate

  • Flightnetwork still has the offer active. I just grabbed it for October.

  • Can anyone find me something from Sydney to Maldives for a good price for 2 people, from end of this month into next month, for say 9 days total trip inc flights?

Does anyone have advice for accommodation, i.e excellent places or islands to stay at in the Maldives? or what to stay clear off?

  • Accommodation seems very expensive. Where to find deals for those luxury water villas?

    • +1

Purely Maldives is the best accommodation resource. But yeah, Maldives is very expensive. I'd definitely go back there though.

      • I am willing to spend around $400 a night (for couple share) need to know what I can get for that. Can anyone suggest where to go to get good accomodation or suggest any activities to do and see and any massage and spa that are the best?

        • As I said, check out Purely Maldives - you can search for the type of place that suits your budget.

  • +1

Now it's saying all the flights to Delhi are sold out. ahhhhhh so difficult!

    • Definitely gone. Price jacked up!!

  • Looks like they have fixed the pricing error, those of you who made a reservation let us know what they say when they contact you? I would stand my ground and demand they honour your bookings. You have already paid… They can't do anything.

    • I'd be like I've already packed my bags and on the way to the airport… Will get there in 4 month by slothing…;)

  • +1

Looks like it's completely dead now…

  • I booked 2 tickets on this deal Melbourne to Colombo. Went through then the bank rang to say Emirates had out a hold on the transaction. Got a confirmation number and everything. Had a great call from fly and save Canada call centre this morning saying they were ringing everyone who had booked the deal to let them know Emirates were not offering the advertised fare and were charging double. The booking doesn't auto cancel from their system till tomorrow. So my question is in the next 24 hours what rights do I have to try and hold Emirates to honour the advertised fare that is on my credit card as a transaction but with a hold on it. thoughts.
