Pk of 20 Energizer AA Batteries for $9.99 @ Officeworks
On page 12 of the new Officeworks catalogue (for sale period 22 Nov - 24 Dec 07), they have the 20 pack Energizer AA Batteries for $9.99 (half price).
If you have a copy of the Officeworks catalogue, take it to Kmart and get them to price match it and you’ll also get 10% of the difference off, so the batteries should end up costing $8.89. (Kmart’s current price on the batteries is $21.00 so the difference is $11 and 10% of this is $1.10).
Otherwise, if you prefer Duracell batteries, Go-Lo has in their latest catalogue pack of 4 AA or AAA Duracell batteries for $2.50.

Found this link with comparisons on the battery life although looks like it’s from 2002 - http://www.users.bigpond.net.au/vk3yng/batteries/aa_battery_...
My understanding from my research on batteries a few months back is that alkaline batteries (eg duracell, energizer) last longer than carbon zinc batteries (eg eveready super heavy duty).
Also found out that cold storage is good for batteries and will extend the shelf life of the battery, so store it in the freezer or fridge.

Bunnings Hardware sells ARLEC POWER alkalines, $9.95 for a pack of 30. I’ve been pleased with them.
Great deal especially with xmas coming up

How do Energizer Max compare to Eveready Golds? (what I usually buy for $12 for 16 when on special) Would they be good for things like Wii controllers, Digital cameras and stuff?
